QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) ESPN Baseball Tonight had someone on who said that the Cubs actually got Pods. I'm pretty sure the guy was just jumping the gun and didn't understand the waiver claim, but I figure its worth mentioning just in case. It really is too bad Matt Murton would make it through waivers to the Sox cause I would love to pencil him in left field. As I type this another guy on Baseball Tonight claims Connor Jackson was very close to being traded to the White Sox prior to the deadline. Perhaps a deal will be revisited in the offseason Any word on who we would have traded? Likely Garland. Also, I'd love to see us get Jackson. -
Charlotte won 3-1. Broadway with a great start today. Went 8.1 giving up 5 hits and 2 BB, only 1 R, and struck out 5. Aardsma got the save striking out 2. Sweeney was back today, going 1-4. Neither Lucy nor Collaro played today. Ricks went 0-4.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 10, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) and if there is, you then find out about it and he's gone. Same s*** as with Jeff Nelson, but with fewer surgeries and way, way younger. I don't see the risk in bringing him in. Me either, but I was just saying...

Glad to see Phillie trying to make Iguchi feel at home. He sucked for the majority of the year for us, but I still love him.

I have horrible sun burn and I think I am about to combust into flames...

I find it hard to believe that no other teams made an offer for him and that the Indians released him for nothing. Something is obviously wrong with him.

I don't have as such as a strong urge or rather fantasy to bone Alba anymore... I mean if given the chance, I'd do her but I'd be extra careful.

question is, with him gone, who gets the nod? Terrero off of the DL? -

I'd see the worst record in the bigs and get that top draft rather then a pretty meaningless .500 season.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) When Buerhle uses his cutter and pounds righties in, and then goes away. He owns teams. When he throws away away away, and then leaves the pitch center cut. The gets wrecked. That's the risk of signing someone like Buehrle long term. Without overpowering stuff, if his location isn't perfect or close to it, he will get rocked.

Egbert knocked around like a rag doll... a part of heads has died today.

I f***ing hate directv and the directv tivo. Messed up on me and missed half the sox game now. I can't wait until I switch the cable and get a real tivo.

so 6 man now?

If it was up to me, I'd have all three, Stone, Hawk, and DJ work the TV booth. DJ as the color man with his occasional jokes and a little baseball insight. Hawk with his calls and story time of ball back in the day. And Stone as the smart one. Plus, this way, when Hawk disappears, we don't have to listen to DJ banter about nothing just to fill the air.

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) every season uribe gets hot for a month or so and then goes M.I.A. for a couple of months. if this is the month he gets hot, anything can happen. Lord knows he's due! He gets progressively worse. In 04, it was the whole 1st half. In 05 he had a decent 1st month and a real good september + playoffs. In 06 he had a good June but that was only the last two weeks of june. So, what's this year? 1 super good week?
-
QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) hey man, if you ride that wave of the emotion to dingers and victories anything can happen. This surely cannot be Uribe's first ever walk off hit... Glad he hit it and all, but it doesn't make him any better of a baseball player.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Boone Logan : lefties :: Ehren Wasserman : Righties Right handed hitters are 1-20 this year against Ehren though he has walked 2 of them so righties are putting up a .180 OPS against him in 23 chances. So if Ozzie could somehow control himself and try to limit Logan to facing lefties and Wasserman to righties this team could have 2 deadly specialists. LOOGY & ROOGY
-
lolz, I love it... one hit, and now Uribe is worth bringing back for next season? That homerun was merely redemption for his 2 errors.
-
that was probably the best horribly played game this season.
-
He did it again!! (What the hell was Ozzie thinking, volume 80

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) He couldnt PH for Erstad, or else Thome would have to play first, because Konerko was the DH. So he was going to have thome hit for Gonzalez and probably sub richar in the game, but thome never got to the plate Or he could have hit for Erstad and Gonzalez move to 1B... I agree with whitesoxfan101 on this, a lot of baffling moves tonight... and it is laughable to see Erstad batting 5th in a major league lineup. -
Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
BearSox replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 08:50 AM) The sox aren't going to have 2 rookies starting 2008 at both 2B and SS. Esp. if Richar looks like he's a keeper at 2B. why the hell not? Rookie or not, Hu would at least be, most likely, an improvement over Uribe. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) For pitchers, the White Sox don't generally view AAA as a necessary stepping stone. There have been several instances where our pitching prospects are promoted immidiately to AA, most notably Jenks and Day. With the season winding down, priority number one should be keeping him healthy -- he's on pace for right around the same IP as last season. Since he'd only get (at most) four starts in Charlotte, I'd just keep him in AA for the rest of the year and perhaps bring him up as a September call-up in a relief role. another prime example of that, IIRC, is Buehrle.
