Sox Mailbag has some interesting tidbits
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) With the money they're all likely to get, I don't really know if any of them make sense. I have trouble thinking that a $12 mil a year + center fielder is going to work on this team salary-wise. well, odds are that rowand would give the white sox a discount. It's no secret that he'd like to come back to chicago, and that KW and the org. would like him back.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) It cracks me up the Rowand love fest on this board. I mean, I liked him and all... but not at the cost he's going to get this offseason. Between all of the FA CF: Cameron, Hunter, Byrnes, Jones... Rowand makes the most sense.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Egbert has to be put on the 40 man before next year unless we don't like him. 4 years already?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) I was really getting a feeling that Russell might get a chance in the pen in September as well. ah, I forgot about him. Well, we might as well just put Reynoso on waivers now, he has no future with this team.

Which area is KW's biggest concern?
oh, if we deal w/ the Dodgers, might as well get Meloan as well.

Chin-Lung Hu for short stop in 08.

Well, there is a very good chance that Rowand will be the CF next year, and if we don't trade for an OF like Kemp or Ethier, Dye would probably be brought back as well. That leaves LF open for a ST battle between Owens and Sweeney.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) I think there is a decent chance you see Egbert make a few starts this year or at the very least pitch out of the pen a lot. I am puzzled/surprised that Donny Lucy wasn't promoted to Charlotte. I expect him to be given every opportunity to succeed and I wouldn't be shocked if he's the Sox backup next year (with Hall being moved) and if he isn't the backup it will be because the Sox are hoping he can make enough strides with the stick to replace AJ as the starter. I think Lucy will be added to the 40 man and will see a lot of action behind the plate come september. If Lucy gets added, that means there would be 2 opening left. My guess is that one would be Broadway and another one of Egbert or Gonzalez, probably Egbert (More polished, Gio would just move up to Charlotte to replace Broaday). Also, speaking of people who will get playing time in September, it would be a good opportunity to see Oneli pitch, and maybe be a candidate for the pen next season.

Gio voted 5th best lefthanded starter
hey, throw Poreda in there and we have a left foursome!

I personally want no part of Joe Crede and his 4 million dollar salary next year. I wouldn't mind him getting traded for a A ball pitcher. Josh Fields is our future at 3B, might as well keep him there and spend the money we'd save from Crede on something else.

Next to #300...
I think there will be another 300 game winner.

Are Tigers '07 the White Sox of '06?
QUOTE(Linnwood @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) So which team will be the 2007 White Sox in 2008? royals.

White Sox Winner!!!!!
Hey, if the 51 giants can comeback from a 13 1/2 game deficit as late as August 12, why can't we come back from a 10 game deficit as of now in an extended season?

Does anyone see Ryan Bukvich in the White Sox plans for next year? I hope not, cause I ain't buying his recent resurgence.
-
Miguel Tejada?
I'm no fan of Tejada for many reasons, but with that being said, he is 100x better then Uribe.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) Hu and Kemp might be a little much for Garland, IMO. Maybe with the legendary 72 hour window. They might well do Hu and Ethier though, but I don't know Coletti's long term plans any better than anyone else. But it is fairly obvious that they have more players than positions out here. There's a couple other places that would work too. Garland to the Angels for Aybar + another good player would be an interesting thing to think about too, if anyone else still likes that kid as much as me. Well, first thing is first, we need Jon to come back and Judy shot, killed, and burried in a hidden location so she won't come back at anytime during this season.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) If Floyd could repeat what he did today about a dozen more times before the end of the season...then it makes perfect sense to try to move Mr. Garland for say, a Shortstop and an OF. Because we need to find a SS Somewhere this offseason. Floyd panning out and Garland for Hu, Kemp and maybe something else... I'd probably cream my pants.

Draft signings
also, it'd be nice to see Jordan Kendall sign as I just realized we share, along with Sweeney, the same B-Day...

it'd be really nice to see Guinn signed.

8.4 games
Jim Gallagher has really been tearing it up down in G-F. 4 for 5 last night with an RBI and a double. He is no up to .336 with 6 homers, 28 rbi's, and 3 sb's in 5 attempts.

what is that? I mean, I know what that is suppossed to be, but are those real videos made by the people who make Lost, or what?

Gavin Floyd?
also, it was nice to see Floyd keep his composure when he didn't get a lot of calls.

Buehrle says he won't win 300

why do people want to spend 15+ million on Bonds? It just makes no sense. He is old and mediocre, at this stage of his career at least, and bringing him in just defeats the purpose of trying to get younger and faster. In other news, KW better freaking get Chin-Lung Hu to play SS in the offseason.

he says that now, but I'll believe it when I see it.
