so, now with 'Stavo gone, we have two open spots on the 40 man, correct? yeah, I'd say odds are good of a trade happening soon.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Bobby Jenks could probably bring in a package of players similar (probably a bit less) to what Teix got the Rangers. I'd move him in a second if a team were offering up a deal like that. same here... I bet Colorado would give up a pretty penny for someone like Jenks.

with the Rangers getting Salty, I wonder if that means Teagarden will become available. I'd love to see the White Sox bring him in. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:07 AM) Get us HU!!!!!!! Perhaps we could deal Dye to them and throw in Count + cash... -
I like this deal for both teams. While Salty and co. were a steep price to pay for Tex, it is a price a team has to pay if they want to win now. I've always liked Tex and he is a very good hitter. He will give a team a .280+ avg, 30+ dingers, and 100+ rbi's and a 850+ OPS. Plus, he can hit from both sides of the plate. They had no room for Salty and the other guys are just prospects.

am I the only one who would want Bowden?

oh god, Pena and Declarman would be awful.

okay KW... time to send JD to Texas for Salty

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) Man we are in trouble with no RF!! oopsies... -
Hopefully Count can absolutely own the Jays tomorrow and some team will be willing to offer something decent for him.

QUOTE(Jeremy @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) I actually think that not attempting to resign Riske is the most obvious mistake Kenny made with the pen. For whatever reason he and/or Ozzie never liked Riske but the guy is certainly not mediocre. He's had an ERA under four in five consecutive seasons and posted a 2.29 ERA with 82 K's against 20 BB's with Cleveland in '03. If he would've pitched for us at all like he's pitched for the Royals this season, he would've been our best reliever. The Royals only ended up paying him $2 million which is nothing in this market. Also, FWIW I wouldn't call Sisco and Aardsma career middle relievers since they're so young and Sisco has started in the minors quite a bit. MacDougal has closed before but was never very good at it. he was never really a great closer, but he was a good closer.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
BearSox replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
I did this really quick in my head and wrote it down... I'm still working on the details of the trades. LINEUP: 1.) Owens, LF{It pains me to do this, but are there any better realistic options?} 2.) Hu, SS{Dodgers} 3.) Thome, DH 4.) Konerko, 1B 5.) Rowand, CF{Free Agency} 6.) Pierzynski, C 7.) Fields, 3B 8.) Sweeney, RF 9.) Richar, 2B BENCH: C, Toby Hall INF, Wilson Betemit{Dodgers} UTL, Pablo Ozuna OF, Matt Murton{Cubs} ROTATION: 1.) Buehrle 2.) Vazquez 3.) Danks 4+5.) Floyd/Gonzalez/Broadway/Egbert/Haeger/Cheap FA BULLPEN: CP, Jenks SU, Thornton SU, MacDougal MRP, Hansen{RedSox} MRP, Meloan{Dodgers MRP, Logan LRP, Russell -
If I had it my way I would have some sort of a three way trade where I trade Bobby for a ton of top talent and also get Brad Lidge.
-
can someone find me a better duo in the minors then Jack and Gio this season? Gio: 3.04 ERA | 7-5 W-L | 115.1 IP | 142 SO Eggy: 2.57 ERA | 11-7 W-L | 133 IP | 135 SO Gio & Eggy: 2.81 ERA | 18-12 W-L | 248.1 IP | 277 SO
-
Eggy and Gio need to be promoted to Charlotte ASAP. I hope the org. is just waiting until after the deadline to sort out the minors since we could be losing/adding prospects in any trades.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) I would jump on that, you cant have enough pitching. I would as well, especially if Garland/Vazquez are traded and Contreras is somehow disposed of.
-
just for anyone interested, like me, the guy we would have likely drafted before he got snatched up by Texas, Michael Main has pitched 8.2 innings this season, not giving up any runs and only 2 hits and 2 BB's while striking out 8.
-
oh come on... how could they possibly have 9 thousand votes?... I call shananagans.
-
Bad move if you ask me. I guess they are finalizing a trade and with the player(s) they get in return, they needed the roster space. Ledezma then will be moved in a different trade.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Looked good yesterday hitting, but not so much today. Good arm though. He looks like that's all he will do, find holes on the ground. He also looks like he could be a Luis Castillo kind of player. No one in the whole lineup looked good hitting today.
-
It is a bit fishy. I guess they just didn't want to keep Konerko on the bench three straight days perhaps. Or, Kenny Williams is show casing Mackowiak at 1B for teams interested in him...
-
Also, to anyone wondering how the Red Sox would get Dye in the lineup 5 times a week, they would platoon him RF with Drew vs. lefties, and plug him into 1B, LF, and DH to give Manny, Youk, and Papi rest.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) On the sunny side, at least Prancer didnt head it into the bullpen. He must forget that the large leather thing on his non throwing hand is to catch the ball with. We need to get Hu or Escobar and replace Uribe. Then call up Sweeney and put him into LF. Trade Pods to someone who needs a 5th OF, pinch runner. I doubt Escobar is going anywhere as the Braves were willing to trade Renteria just to make room for Escobar. Hu on the other hand might be and I would love to get him here.
-
hopefully the M's will get desperate and trade something decent for Contreras and about 8-10 million in considerations.
-
How bout this KW, Craig Hansen and Michael Bowden for Dye... I think Boston would do it, and it would be good value in return for us.
