  1. Is it just me, or does it just seem like the organization just doesn't want Buehrle anymore? It's not about the money, and it's not about the NTC, they just want him gone, for some reason... I don't know, I just get that vibe.
  2. If Jenks isn't hitting his spots perfectly, he is gonna get rocked with the straight 90 mph fastball. Lucky it isn't tied right now.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Currently 1-9 Devil Rays pitcher Edwin Jackson EASILY has better raw stuff than Greg Maddux ever did in his wildest dreams. Stuff isn't everything. Where did I ever say anything like this? All I am saying is that some teams would rather have Garland because he has better stuff and is a good pitcher. Buehrle is a great pitcher, but with mediocre stuff. I personally think Garland is better overall, but people can make arguements for both. I like them both and would want to keep both. But I am looking at this from a GM's point of view.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Location on the fastball, back door slider, great change-up, good curveball, and works fast. Yes, I'm serious. Location and works fast isn't stuff... Mark Buehrle has very mediocre stuff, but with him being such a good pitcher, he gets by on it. I don't disagree with that. But when you look at pure stuff, Garland has the edge, by far.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) If I had to bet my season on a guy, Buerhle or Garland I would take Buerhle hands down and twice on Sunday. Buerhle has had stones from the time he came up from the minors. Garland up until a few years ago, had tiny nuts syndrome. Where if something bad would happen he would s*** the bed. Judy shows her ugly head here and there. Do you see me disagreeing with that? Buehrle is what Hawk would call a pitcher. He goes out there, attacks hitters, and gets outs. But if you look at pure stuff, Garland has the edge.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 05:00 PM) No. Buehrle has better stuff by far. Are you being serious? That is ridiculous to say.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) That would be correct. I'm not sure what possibly tells somebody that Garland is anywhere near better other than Buehrle's off year last year (and Jon had a 6 ERA into June in that same year) as well as the overrated "win" stat. Lots of scouts look at stuff rather then stats, and there is no question that Garland has better stuff... Mark Buehrle better go for the CG...
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) I'm one of the biggest Garland fans on this board, but the only GM's in baseball that like him better than Buehrle are ones who are soon to be and/or should be unemployed. The fact that Garland is signed through 2008 might get him around equal value on the market as Buehrle, but that's it (and that's even a stretch). So now if a GM likes Garland better then Buehrle they are bad ones? I would bet that there are more GM's that like Garland better then Buehrle... call me crazy, but whatever. Also, Pierzynski has a canon arm....
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) Punto is making some great picks at 3rd. Of course, it's because he's playing the ball poorly and into some bad hops, but still he's picking it. Garland is a righty, hasn't had nearly the career that Buehrle has, and he'll get us that much more because he's signed 1 extra year? Umm Buehrle would be a 3 month rental and said he won't sing with the team he's traded to. Garland would be around for 9 months of baseball and would be able to be signed to an extension with that team. Plus, it wouldn't surprise me if more GM's liked Garland better as a pitcher (aside from yesterday).
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Garland has more trade value than MB because he's signed through 2008 instead of 2007? Uhhh hellllllllllllllllllllll no. Uhhh helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll yes.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) I want Kemp and Billingsley or Broxton. I bet KW does too, and that's why we haven't traded MB yet though. Only Garland could get us a package like that...
  12. f--- yeah! I love you... so, he doesn't have a sinker, but a sinking fastball.
  13. I am sure we could get a Kemp and Betemit package out of LA for Buehrle... would any of you guys be opposed to that package?
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 01:37 AM) Hudson and Nipper for Buehrle....just shoot me now. I could see Contreras for Hudson...that I could see. I still would prefer a prospect somewhere in that deal but I could definitely live with it. I'd be stoked if we could do Jose and Iguchi for Hudson and Quentin. Hell, I'd do Contreras straight up for Quentin... Anything to get rid of that contract and get something young and with talent in return.
  15. he's been off balanced with his swing all year. He is finally fixing that and is starting to come around. I expect a big second half out of him and if so, I don't see him losing too much money, if any.
  16. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Exactly. A stat came on the board Thursday night vs the O's that said "When AJ catches, the Sox pitchers have a 2.96 ERA". That was during the 05 postseason... And if we are to get young, catcher should be a spot where we look to upgrade with youth.
  17. Can someone remind me what is the upside of having A.J. on this team? He has always been known for his offense, and his defense is very suspect. And he has been terrible offensively and I think his D has gotten worse. I really would like to see a ML ready catching prospect brought in.
  18. ouch.... that ball was destroyed. What a horrible 0-2 pitch by Goof.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) I'm gonna try and get the Egbert interview up shortly. something for me to look forward to concerning the White Sox now...
  20. Gosh, Jerry Owens is such a bad bunter.
  21. Dye has flu like symptoms? aww, poor baby. This explains why he sucks.
  22. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:27 AM) I think Bobby Jenks and Pauly are the only untouchables on our team at this point. I really want them to keep Buerhle and Garland also. As far as the rest of the team goes, I don't really care at this point. I'd hope not... he'd bring in a ton via trade.
  23. If we could get O-Dog from Jose straight up... where do I sign up?
  24. kalapse... what would your bench look like with O-Dog starting at 2B and Richar in the "ozuna" role?
