ouch... depending on seriousness, who gets called up? Russell, Gio, or Egbert? I'd say Gio since he has mastered AA before.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) 5 K's for Buehrle... 5 k's in 2 innings When did Brandon Wood get called up?
-
Our AAA rotation is looking like something like this probably come the end of the year.... Floyd, Broadway, Gio, Egbert, Russell. I see both Phillips and Haeger going bye-bye, and Nunez sucks ass anyway. And when we trade or let Buehrle go, or even both, we can let those guys compete in camp for the opning spots.

QUOTE(Disco72 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) The Score just reported that Sweeney is in the starting lineup today. hooray!

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 06:29 AM) Gio's certainly putting up some great numbers, and I don't think we could have hoped for anything more from him so far. However, you have to remember he's repeating AA and he's moved to a much better pitching envrionment, so I'd have to say what he's doing right now hasn't really shocked me. I think he'll be up at Charlotte at some point, and it'll be interesting to see what impact that has on his numbers and whether he gives up the long ball at a similar rate that he did last season for the Phillies AA affilate. It doesn't matter if he's pitching in my back yard, you can't deny the K's.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:35 AM) It was at 12:33 AM But yeah, I'm badass. I was using my other computer, and forgot that the time on that one is an hour slow... I am so sorry sit

damn, one of these days I will get the honor of making a gamethread... This should not count as you made it 33 minutes early, but since you do have almost 20,000 posts, an admin, and could easily ban me or whatever, I think we should let it slide...

there we go... vvv

Are you ready for the era of terra? If so... it is Sweeney Time! (give me a minute while a take out my good ole Sweeney sig)

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Ah, someone beat me to it. Take his word, son. After staring into the eyes of Stavo, I now know it's true...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) Yes, I called it. I love it. I think I called it first... EDIT: Actually no, no I didn't.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Should have acquired him when his value was low. He'll be back here, but not until he's a FA. Should have went for Gio and Rowand for Garcia instead... but hindsight is always 20-20.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) Sweeney hasn't dominated anything since HS. Why should we expect him to do it at teh major league level, besides your generally insane projections. The first part was a joke about him dominating. I know, it is tough to tell sarcasm on a message board. Sorry. I think Sweeney in his rookie season can do something like... .270-.280, 10 homers, and 55 RBI. Very similar to what someone else posted. But as he develops some ore and gets more experience, go onto something like .300, 20-25 homers, and 80-90 RBI and eventually to 100.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) Sweeney reminds me so much of Sean Burroughs. I don't see any possibility that he can dominate at this level. So what. He also reminds me of Garrett Anderson. and Anderson has done pretty good for himself, wouldn't you say?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) First time I've heard Sox and hit in the same sentence today. Actually... I don't think they were in the same sentence today.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) I don't think Perez would come here. That would make little sense for him -- come here for a month (or however long) and immediately go back to AAA once Podsednik comes back? Well, the plan is for Sweeney to dominate, never go to AAA again, and say goodbuy to Pods. Anderson stays down, and when Thome comes back, Logan would then go down.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:02 PM) I agree with you, here. Except we'll likely see Perez sharing times with Sweeney at DH and Mackowiak/Ozuna splitting time in LF. Guillen won't forsake his veterans for playing time in the outfield. Well, we don't have to worry about this because this would never happen with Ozzie.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) You don't, but Ozzie does. Won't that be nice, Anderson and Sweeney sitting side-by-side on the White Sox' bench? In all seriousness, you're right. Sweeney does need to come up here and be the everyday LFer or RFer with Dye or Mack/Ozuna moving to DH. But I think we're going to see more Cintron at DH. Well, there is hope. Ozzie has spoken of Sweeney in Grinder-God like ways. He is one young player that Ozzie might actually like a hopefully play.
-
This is a joyous day... I think I'm gonna cry. Even our minor league teams are filled with grinders!
-
This is a golden oppurtunity to see if one of our top prospects can hit at the MLB level. You don't waste his AB's by sitting him and having Cintron in the K'ing 3 times.
-
This is what I would do... Once Thome is on the DL, call up Sweeney. I would also maybe send down Anderson and sign someone like Eduardo Perez. I would have Sweeney play LF, Erstad CF, and Dye RF, with Perez and Mack being the main DH's, with Pablo getting some action once in a while. My lineup would look something like this... 1. Erstad, CF 2. Iguchi, 2B 3. Dye, RF (the spot in the lineup Dye has done his best the past 2 years) 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Pierzynski, C 6. Crede, 3B 7. Perez/Mack, DH 8. Uribe, SS 9. Sweeney, LF Now, at least to me, that lineup aint half bad, and would be ideal.

omg, omg, omg. For some reason I thought this game didnt begin until 7!!!

Yeah, I saw Patrick Willis wearing a Sox hat. The Sox hats seem to be the hat of choice for fashion for black people/rappers. Cool logo, it's black. It's not some fairy red and blue hat on with a d-bag logo And like you said, I doubt their either really fans, but just wear the hats out of fashion.
