QUOTE(striker62704 @ May 6, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) What's up with Uribe? He hasn't been in the lineup for awhile. he's back in Chicago taking care of his ailing mother...
-
Clemens has become such a whore. And I love how he can't live without his boyfriend Petitte. Oh well. Yankees can afford 20 million for 20 starts from a pitcher.
-
Only if we Terrero DH'ing. We could have the best 7-8-9 hitter trio ever thinkable.
-
Sweeney and Molina back-to-back is a deadly combo.
-
Was he trying to throw a splitter? Does he have a splitter? That is the only way I think you could dislocate your knuckle.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 6, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) Where's he going to play? BTW, his name is spelled Vasquez. I know, but true Grinder's spell "Vasquez" with a "Z"... see Javier Vazquez. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ May 6, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) Nobody is even talking about him. How good does that trade look with the Cubs right now? Neal Cotts has been lights out, but I kinda think that is due in part that no one in the NL has really seen him, and second time around the league he won't be so lights out anymore. Aardsma on the other hand, it doesn't matter. If he can mix up and locate the slider, that fastball is going to look like 105 mph to the hitters. And Vazquez, I am not to excted about because he sucked in ST, but he is doing good in the minors right now. Speaking of minor league relievers, when will Day get promoted? He is 2-1, with a 2.1-something ERA, but in 16+ innings, he has gotten 33 K's! Averaging 2 K's per inning. I really want to see his Slider because it sounds like a doozey.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 6, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) What reputable person has compared him to Brandon Webb? I've read it somewhere during the offseason. If I find the link, I'll post it.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 5, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) Of course, I could say that you're pulling that straight out of your ass, but that'd just be assuming something with no proof, now wouldn't it? No, I am pulling that straight out of my ass.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 5, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) Sweeney kind of reminded me of Mackowiak at the plate. How he is hitting so far, yeah. But overall, they don't match at all. Also, Sweeney is a much different player then Anderson as well.

Wow... Egbert must have one hell of a sinker.

Sometimes it is amazing how this planet and universe work.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 5, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Gustavo is a wasted roster spot since he never plays. He may as well be demoted now. Boone has been ok. ... The throwing part does worry me, but it is not like A.J. throws out a ton of runners. I know, but you don't want to risk him making it worse, especially right away. I think it would be best to just see how he progresses over a week or so in side throwing sessions, and when Thome comes back, then demote Gustavo.

Danks working on a cutter... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Looks like he is trying to mold himself after Buehrle. He has been working at a fast pace like Buehrle lately, and now trying to develop a similar cutter. Danks can be a better version of Buehrle, if you ask me. He has 1-3 more mph on his fastball, but he needs a bit more work on his change, which is already good. And if he could get better command of his curve, he can be dominate. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 3, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) Joe needs to start hitting or we're going no where fast. This team is in trouble. We're in danger of being buried in our division if we don't start hitting/winning. If anything, we need Dye and PK hitting.

Egbert is beastly... I hope the comparisons to Brandon Webb are correct.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Looks like he can be back in a real soon, which would be huge. If it was me however, I would activate Hall and option Logan to AAA right away. But, I would have Hall be nothing more then the DH. Keep Gustavo to be the backup Catcher. Hall can hit, he has taken numerous batting practice sesions with no pain and can still hit like he used to. But the throwing part is what is scary. And then when Thome comes back, Hall will be able to throw normal, and Gustavo can be sent down.

I think Sweeney is really going to breakout in the next few games. He looked pretty good today. He hit that rocker to deep CF which was unfortunately an out, but he got that nice double down the line. I didn't like his situational hitting in the 2nd however with a runner on 3rd. Luckily Erstad picked him up.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 5, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) so how was he going to make the Sox out of Spring Training? Not every single Sox minor leaguer can use the BA excuse. Im not making exsuses for him. If he wants to act like a baby, let him. I'm just saying the reasons for his struggles is that he is probably playing lazy, probably because he thought he played good enough last year to warrent a chance in the MLB. But I am not making excuses for him.

Also, I used to think this was a good bench, but I stand corrected. I have come to realize that Mackowiak is just not a good player. That is why he wasn't drafted until the 53rd round. I am shocked he made it thus far. He has a bad stance and approach to the plate. But, he fits the definition of a "grinder" perfectly. Below average tools, but his hustle and work ethic, with the way he can play every position makes him more valuable. He should have been traded instead of Gload. Cintron is just a decent player, could go either way. He is just about as streaky as they come (next to Uribe). But he is a switch hitter, but he's a pretty weak defender. Could be upgraded, which might be wise. Ozuna is fine. Very good speed, and a fairly decent hitter. Decent in the middle infield defensively. Stavo belongs back in the minors.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/5/07 (W)

Mack being a better defender then Dye is a joke. He might have more speed, but he has terrible reads, and makes plenty bone-headed decisions in the field. Hey, but that seems like the job of the Grinder is... -

I don't want to see Mack anywhere near the lineup anymore. That AB with runners on 2nd and 3rd last night where he reached at a low and away pitch to only ground out and ruin the rally has happened just way too much. Pure sickening. He deserves to be benched for the rest of the month after that AB. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 4, 2007 -> 11:17 PM) Or you could be completely reading something into that without watching him play. true dat...

This is at about the worst I have seen a White Sox team in recent memory. I say give it until mid-June. If we still suck, which looks like a very good possibility, it is time to can Greg Walker, at least. The minor league offenses aren't hitting either. I don't know if they would get new hitting coaches for every level, but it would be quite wise. If KW and Ozzie really want to be like the Twins or Angels, etc, then they need to get hitting coaches who praise the line drive and short quick swing instead of going for maximum power with a loopey power swing. Also, around mid June - late July is when the trade winds start to really heat up. Dye, Iguchi, Contreras and Crede seem like to be the most likely to be available. Buehrle, maybe, but I think he will stay, and the White Sox might try and work something out with him in the offseason. BA, might as well trade him if he won't play in the Bigs at all. Pods as well is useless. I'd like to see a speedy CF who can leadoff added, maybe someone like Chris Duffy. I also like the idea of keeping Sweeney in LF. Maybe get someone like Jose Guillen for right if Dye is traded. In free agency next year, I could see Omar Vizquel added, or possibly Rowand. Thats all for me for now...

It seems to me that Fields has lost motivation from not making the show, and has been quite lazy...

why vote for someone who cheated his away and took away awards from two of the greatest hitters to ever play.
