Actually, I really want Borbon now. He is a Junior, so it should only take him 2-3 years to develop, and we do need a future leadoff hitter. He might not have the best arm, but if he can hit something like .310 with a .380 OBP, while hitting 10 homers, and driving in something like 60, and stealing 30-40 bases, his arm won't be that big of a problem. Especially if he plays a good CF.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) Sweeney should be starting for us for the next 10-15 years (yes, he's that freaking good). Beautiful swing, great athlete and he'll be a premiere defensive left fielder (he's pretty good out there, plus most left fielders are pathetic defensively). He is just flat out impressive for someone his age and I think he plays up to his competition and sooner or later he'll improve when it comes to turning on inside pitches (like the way he turned on that pitch today) and develop 20 plus HR power to go with a high average. Right now, he is trying to hit for average. Hit the fastball to LF and turn on the breaking stuff. The same approach Uribe is taking. But like you said, once Sweeney matures some more, he will turn on those pitches some more. I see something like a 300+ avg, 25 HR, and 100+ RBI as his possible averages in a couple years.

Erstad is better then Pujols at 1B by far. But the rest you listed are all pretty much some of the best at 1B. Teixeria is another one you should add to that list.
-
Okay, this Erstad vs. Konerko debate at 1B is pretty stupid. Konerko has limited range, but has the softest hands of practically any 1B in the majors. Erstad has the best range of any 1B and has good hands. Practically, it really doesn't matter who we had out at 1B because they are both very good at it.

He has a team option for 08. If he keeps this up, he will stay in the 2-hole, and that option will be picked up. But that is a BIG IF, no a HUGE IF. Uribe is known as an incredibly streaky hitter.
-
Long with a good K per IP ratio tonight. Is the org just starting him to stretch out his arm? They don't see him as a starter but a reliever, correct? Carter has been beastly, and Shelby doing better, but still has a far ways to go.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) If you can resist f***ing with your IF defense late in the game, you try to leave it alone. That's just what I believe. I'm just more comfortable with Paulie finishing it off. Well, I think we all would like to keep the same chemistry, but the pinch running for Konerko was a no-brainer.

Chris Young does something good (while not on the sox, f'in kenny)

I see Chris Young putting up similar numbers to Mike Cameron at his best. Nothing wrong with that, but not studly. -
Any word on Honel's velocity yet?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) PK's been playing it for about 7 or 8 more years though. what Kyle said.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Best wishes to Cintron. Gonzalez should start at 2nd base, and Iguchi should start looking for real estate back in Japan. Hey fathom... Andy Gonzalez pretty much sucks, and would probably be worse then Iguchi.

The other night they showed the pink bat, and it looked like a good piece of lumber. I am expecting an offensive outburst tomorrow.

QUOTE(Hanky Panky @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) I was worried about us going into the 11th w/Erstad having to play 1st base. I'm sure glad that didn't happen. Why? Erstad is a better defender then PK at 1st, and Terrero is no slouch in the OF himself. Also, Ryan Sweeney rocks your world.
-
tonights lineup: Erstad, CF Uribe, SS - he's been doing okay, I guess, but 2? Pierzynski, C Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Mack, DH Crede, 3B Iguchi, 2B Sweeney, LF - yahoo!
-
Koufax I guess you can say was more scary then intimidating. He wouldn't throw at you, on purpose, but the way he pitched, I'd be hitting the deck every pitch.
-
God Mark Grace is a bad announcer... Phillies need bullpen help, we need a grinder... I see a possible match
-
I thought about doing today, but I'm bad mojo.
-
over/under on when KW trades for him?
-
Randy Johnson and Sandy Koufax should have been in the top 5, IMO.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 12, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) That makes no sense. His control is his best attribute, not his biggest problem... I thought he was having some control issues this season... But like usual, I am probably wrong. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 12, 2007 -> 04:08 AM) Yeah Faustino is the s***. As for Broadway I really like him for reasons I can barely describe. I think he will be a respectable to solid Major League starter. It's his name.
-
I still like Broadway as a prospect. Better then McCulloch anyway. Broadway might not have the best fastball, but he is working on a 2 seemer similar to Garland's with the sinking action, and he has always had a good curve. He also has a decent change, correct? His biggest problem to me seems to be his control. He might never be a stud, but he could be a serviceable 4-5 guy at least. Maybe even a bullpen guy?

Hopefully after today, Ozzie will realize that Sweeney is da Man.
