  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 17, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) I thought aside from the price, Lilly was a good signing for the Cubs. Well, if you put it that way, then yes. But if that was the case, every signing could be considered good if they were cheap.
  2. Hopefully Danks... any confirmation of Contreras pitching B>W, or are you just speculating?

I agree southsider. I am a bit pissed about Sweeney's current approach to the plate still. He is just trying to put the bat on the ball. I want to see him get those hits open and hit some scorchers. But in all likely hood, Greg Walker is probably doing something wrong here... With Dye and Iguchi finally coming around it looks like, and hopefully soon Paulie, I lineup of something like what I will post below won't look half bad.... Erstad, CF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Pierzynski/Hall, C Uribe, SS Crede, 3B Sweeney, LF
  4. Well, I could see him starting tomorrow since we are facing Lilly. Speaking of Lilly... Lets remind him why he sucked in the AL>
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) If a catcher sees a hitter cheating trying to step in the bucket to get around on something, they usually setup away and make it nearly impossible for the hitter to make contact with the ball. 2 things they fix before you get to college. One is a hitch in the swing, the other is stepping into the bucket. If you dont fix that, pitchers will exploit you. I didn't see the AB, but if it was once or twice times where he stepped into the bucket, there is no problem with that. Garrett Anderson is a perfect example of guessing for the inside pitch, and stepping into the bucket every so often. Personally, I'd like to see Sweeney do that. Sometimes when he has that 2-0, 2-1 count, he should guess and step into the bucket, get those hips open and drive the inside pitch. Right now the scouting report teams have on him looks something like bust him in with fastballs. But you're right. Consistantly stepping into the bucket is no good.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Uribe with a nice step in the bucket there. His front foot moves towards third base, and then he swings. Dont they fix that s*** in high school. What does Walk do again. Nothing wrong with stepping into the bucket once in a while... Sometimes you need to guess as a hitter.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) that is way to premature to make that statement. If he puts up the stats he is doing now in high A and double A I dont know how you could say that. So until he shows he cant hit at a higher lvl like he is now no reason to think that. It's just my personal opinion/feeling about him as a player. He doesn't seem to draw much walks and strikes out a few too many times one would like, but he can hit. I am usually wrong about these things anyway, so it's cool anyway.
  8. You know, I don't see Carter ever being a great everyday player, but I think he has the potential to be a great bench/role player.
  9. Also, Danks was really throwing today. This had been the best all season I have seen him throw. He has popping the fastball up there at 92-93, and had that good late break going with his slanting curve. Plus, his change didn't look to shabby either. He still needs to work on that control through.
  10. I guarantee you all that Sweeney will have made some adjustments. I am sure we aren't the only ones who noticed that the scouting report going around on Sweeney is that he has trouble with the inside pitch. So, he has two options for adjustment. Either back off the plate a little bit, or get those hands in quick and open up those hips. Also, I still am the driver of the Sweeney bandwagon.
  11. At first, I thought he said Joe "I wish I was good" Crede... That would have been better then what he really said. And that is so true about Sweeney and Ozuna.
  12. Danks would probably go on two days rest with no pitch count in high school anyway. I see this as a no-problem.
  13. why did I click on a thread with this bum's name on it? I am ashamed of myself now.
  14. I love Griffey... One I was growing up, he was by far my favorite player. I remember I got a classic Marines Griffey T-Shirt Jersey. 24 forever!
  15. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) As of 10:14 tonight's game has been postponed. This coming from the official white sox email. LMAO. Lol, I got that to... But at least I also got an e-mail from my brother saying that he is getting tickets for me to go to a Sox game.
  16. QUOTE(Scwible @ May 15, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) I'd like double headers more if I could go to both with one ticket. I hear that!
  17. Well, I personally love double headers... Wish they kept it like in the old days where there would be day-night double headers every weekend.
  18. 4 Days rest isn't that big of a deal. When Danks was in HS he would probably go on 2 days rest sometimes, with no pitch count. You don't want to overwork him, but it isn't a huge problem.
  19. QUOTE(Scwible @ May 15, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) Comcast during the day. WCIU at night. how do you know this? Not doubting you, just want to make sure...
  20. ah man..... I think I'll watch until 11, and if the game is still going on, record it and then watch it in the morning.
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) remember when I kept getting laughed at when I was calling Placido Polanco the solution to our problems at 2B back in '04. Oh how times change. I've always been a big fan of Placido... well, before he joined the Tigs. If I was here posting back in 04, I would not have laughed at you, but have agreed.
  22. ^^^ Jack Cust would be league MVP as well...
  23. I forgot about Rowand... yeah, he will likely be heading back to the south side next season. This is probably just another contract year season to, and when he gets a pretty good sized contract from us, he will revert back to his usual self.
