  1. Great pitching again Terrero still sucks, and if he was playing correctly in the 9th Offense still sucked, but came through when needed, I guess Hopefully we will see Sweeney and only Sweeney for the next couple of games in LF Thornton throwing some major gas today Jenks with a clutch out vs. a tough batter Sad to see a team get shutdown like that against Odalas(sp?) Perez DJ is awesome For some reason, I was really tired today, and fell asleep during the first inning of the sox game. Luckily when I woke up, I was able to watch the archieved version on MLB.tv, and it was the HD feed. And it was a good game to watch.
  2. I read this earlier today, and I can see why teams aren't interested in Marshall's methods.
  3. I would like to Sweeney play today. He might be facing a lefty today, but this particular lefty is pretty bad.
  4. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:47 PM) If only he did... what? He didn't? Dammit, it was probably a dream again.
  5. Ryan Sweeney will be a ROY candidate if he stays up and gets a good amount of AB's for the rest of the season. Plus, there isn't much competition in the AL for ROY... Oh, I forgot about "Dice K" - I only call him that because his real name is too long - but he shouldn't count as a rookie in my book.
  6. Sweeney everyday in LF >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mack/Ozuna + Pods It really isn't even close right now.
  7. I see that Jermey Sowers kid from Cleveland has been doing pretty bad. Ever since his fisrt star against the White Sox, I knew he wouldn't be this big ace or whatever. He really looked unimpressive to me, and has only had 8 K's in 24 or something like that IP. He actually has more walks issued than batters struck out.
  8. I think our Rotation has surpassed Minnesota as the best rotation in the Central so far in this early season. Before last nights game, the Sox were behind the Twins like 4-5 place with a difference of ERA at about .10, but after these past two games, I am fairly certain that they have pretty much switched places. If our pitching can keep this up, with our offense hopefully coming back to life (Konerko is starting to come around, and Dye a little), we can be a very dangerous team. I think when Thome and Hall come back which could be as early as sometime next week, our offense will come to life. If it was up to me, when Thome and Hall come back, Stavo and Terrero would go down. Also, I am still pissed about forgetting about this game, and not tivoing it...
  9. The only excuse for sending down Sweeney and keeping Terrero up at this point is that Terrero is right-handed. But that is BS because Sweeney vs. left handed pitching is 10x better then Terrero to begin with. Plus, Sweeney has showed the grinder mentality, to go along with his great eye, and + speed. The only thing he has done wrong so far is not hit for power, but that will come.
  10. Egbert time tonight...
  11. Out of those 3, Borbon would be ideal for future leadoff man. The only thing I don't like as mentioned in that tid-bit is his arm. Russell looks to be the type of prospect the Sox love though. Big power guy, but also K's a ton. Could be a decent RF, but he is left-handed, and I'd prefer to have a right handed thrower in RF. Here is a link for one of his homers... http://www.bevosports.com/2006/02/12/kyle-...mer-beats-rice/ But out of the three you mentioned, I would want Burgess the most, but it doesn't look like he will sign with any team, but rather play college ball. I also wouldn't mind Matt LaPorta.
  12. oh my... I completely forgot about the game today, and missed it! I guess I'll watch the condensed game later today on MLB.tv... So pissed right now. Jose with a fabulous outing.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 9, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Did it look like he was using a cutter at all? No, it is still a work in progress. He has said he wants to wait until he has mastered it to use it in a game.

    5/9

nice to see Gio with a nice rebound...
  15. Danks could turn into a better version of Buehrle, if you ask me. Especially if he can develop a similar cutter, which he has been working with. He seems to already have the pace down. Working that fast seems to suit him well, especially with the way he attacks the zone. But what sets him apart from Buehrle is his curve. Danks also has 1-2 mph more on his fastball as well. Danks can become a dominant pitcher sooner rather then later.
  16. tonights lineup: Erstad, CF Ozuna, 2B Dye, RF Konerko, 1B Mackowiak, DH - puke Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Sweeney, LF - hooray! 'Stavo, C - wtf?
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 9, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) David can keep doing what he wants. She agrees VVV edit: nvm, I found out now. It's his girlfriend.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 9, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) Seriously? That's you're guess? Come on now. Oops, I missed read the question... I thought it said for the 2006 season only... The correct answer would be Aardsma, correct?
  19. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 9, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Anybody know anything about him? He's from Illinois. Looks good with numbers. Any idea what he throws? What his ceilings are? He's a marist grad. Was originally drafted by the White Sox in the teen-rounds out of high school, but didnt sign and went to some college in IL. Then he was drafted by the Pirates in the 4th or 5th. I am not sure about his stuff, but I think he throws between 92-94, with a decent curve, but I am likely wrong. I have also heard that he has a bad attitude. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/team/playe...layer_id=452733 you can see some of his clips a little down.
  20. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 9, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) I really believe they have both throttled back to gain some control. Also, it was noted that Sisco was throwing from a different arm angle last night, which may decrease his velocity as well. What would be considered dominating? How about leading the majors in ERA (1.65) and K/9 (10.72), with a WHIP under 1.00 and a HR/9 of 0.41 among pitchers with at least 40 innings since August 20th, 2006. Guess who that is? Papelbon? F-Rod?
  21. kinda ironic that Danks is ranked at 126 with only an average run support of 1.26... that something you should be impressed with.
  22. the earliest a fire sale could happen is early-mid July. As some others have stated, the team is still relying on Thome and Hall coming back and producing. The pitching has been very good, but the offense has disappeared. If Thome and Hall come back in a week or two, we could be in a good spot. When they come back, we could option Stavo and Terrero down, and keep Sweeney in LF where he belongs. If we can get a lineup like this: 1. Erstad, CF 2. Iguchi, 2B 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF 6. Pierzynski/Hall C 7. Crede, 3B 8. Uribe, SS 9. Sweeney, LF and if this lineup can produce a 5 run average per game, and if the pitching continues to deal, we could make a big run.
