  1. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:00 AM) AFFAIR McNAIR I lol'ed... does that make me a bad person?
  2. He had some really solid minor league numbers. And if Lillibridge could learn that's he's not a power hitter, he could be a decent bench player.
  3. Congressman Peter King was dead on about Michael Jackson. I wish the media and people would care about something more important, not the death of what once was a great talent. People idolizing and praising this guy non stop, it's almost sicking. This guy was a child predator (spare the never convicted crap, he made settlements in the past, celebrities always get off from crimes, and the fact he consistently had sleep overs with kids tells you something), didn't care about anyone but himself (hence the hundreds of millions of dollars he wasted on himself), and he was a plain old nut (non stop plastic surgery, became white, etc., etc., etc.). I'm sorry for his family, but I don't have an ounce of pity for Michael Jackson.
  4. You make a blockbuster trade and bring in Roy Halladay... I guarantee more fans will come. You let this team fade into mediocrity, and you'll see attendance numbers drop even more. And puh-lease about the Dodgers series. You raised the freaking prices for a mid-week series in this economy! Get over yourselves!
  5. Perhaps we might try and get him to drop down and throw more of a slow, slurvy slider, similar to what Carrasco and Dotel do.
  6. Yeah, this could very well be a move to get rid of Dotel. He seems to have probably a similar amount of value as Pena does, but we know we won't get draft picks for him, and this way we'll save money. Plus, Pena has the potential to be a lot better. However, I'm not gonna lie... I wouldn't mind making a blockbuster trade involving Jenks.
  7. QUOTE (rockren @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Does this move facilitate Flowers moving to 1B? I think the world of Pena's stuff and I'm glad we're getting him. I just thought Allen was Thome's replacement next year...guess not. Not really. We keep him at catcher until he shows he can't play there. As for Thome's replacement, hopefully it's Dye next year. Also, I think KW was planning on keeping PK around past 2010 anyway.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) I never buy the concept of a "Move to setup a bigger move" because I can't remember the last time it actually happened. KW made this move because he wanted Tony Pena. I can agree with some of that, but lets face it, how are we gonna get work for all of Jenks, Thornton, Dotel, Linebrink, Carrasco, and now Pena? Perhaps saying a bigger move was the wrong word, but I think something will happen within the next week or so. My guess is that Linebrink will go on the DL.
  9. With Allen gone, Cook can take back his crown of the undisputed most overrated "prospect" on this board.
  10. I really don't see how this move makes us so much better this season, so I'm not getting all the talk about KW going for it all and being a buyer just because we got Pena. I see this as a move to setup a bigger move.
  11. I really think this is a set up move. I don't know if that set up move is surprising everyone and trading Jenks, or trading Dotel or putting Linebrink on the DL. Maybe we plan on moving Carrasco to the rotation? I don't know, but I really think this is a set up move for something else. Plus, IIRC, Pena has some legit stuff, but has struggled to get good results. I'll take my chances with Coop, he has a good track record when it comes to fixing pitchers. And I agree with others, Allen was pretty overrated on here. I thought he was a solid prospect, but not this future Adrian Gonzalez people were making him out to be. I thought he'd make sense as a part of a bigger package, but I don't mind it at all.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Is she overrated? Of course she is. And her tattoos are hideous IMO. But she is still gorgeous even if she can't compete with the love of my life (Halle Berry). Black people sure do love their Halle Berry, don't they?... I haven't met a single black person who doesn't think Halle Berry isn't the sexiest woman ever. I agree, she's very sexy, but she wouldn't be my first choice.
  13. LOL at what some people think it would take to get Halladay. Look at what the Twins got for Santana. The only MLB ready player that got was Gomez, and everyone knew he was extremely raw. All this talk about Floyd or Danks needing to be a part of the deal is just silly. If the Blue Jays are expecting them back in a return, they weren't serious about trading Halladay in the first place.
  14. The Jays would have no interest in Getz do to the fact they already have Hill... unless they plan on moving him to 3B after they get rid of Rolen, but I doubt that.
  15. Meghan Fox is sexy, but overrated. She's more of a f***ing crazy one night chick than a chick you'd actually want to date.
  16. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) I think in this case, with the rough negotiations and the fact that the Ricketts almost couldn't buy them, I wouldn't imagine they make enough for a full rebuild. I think Levine said the Cubs made $45 mil last year. And that is probably true since the Trib is publicly owned, they would have to release that. Anyway, that's not even CLOSE to what they would need to rebuild it. I don't think the Sox would make a dime off of the Cubs playing at Comiskey. The ISFA would. I'm not saying they're gonna do it any time soon, but maybe within the next 10 or so years, when hopefully the economy is better, they've made a lot of money, etc.
  17. I want no part of AJ after 2010, at least not as a starter. He'll be 35-36 at that time, and he has already shown signs of slowing down behind the plate. Maybe as a backup catcher, pinch hitter, etc., fine. But no way do I want to see him starting at C after 2010.
  18. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) Gavin = Mental midget. See last year's playoff performance. If Jose keeps pitching the way (don't forget 2005! he has, that's better than Floyd (who hopefully won't return back to being a pumpkin.) I'm nervous on buying high on Rolen. It'd be close to unrealistic to expect Rolen to keep doing what he's doing, but I'll take good D at 3B, a .260 average, and a veteran bat in the bottom half of the lineup for the next year and a half while we wait for Viciedo to develop. The thing that worries me is injuries, will he hold up.
  19. I should point out... The Jays could use an MLB ready 1B, and Allen is pretty near MLB ready. They seem to be getting frustrated with Overbay because they want more power out of the 1B spot, and Overbay just isn't a power hitter. Allen makes a lot of sense for them.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) How old was Pedro when his stuff took a nose dive...particularly his fastball? Around 34, but I don't see the comparison as Pedro and Halladay are two different types of pitchers, IMO.
  21. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) What's Rolen's contract situation? I honestly wouldn't mind having Rolen around the next few seasons. Try to make a deal, sign Roy to an extension, keep one of Richard or Poreda (probably Richard) and our rotation is set for the next 3 seasons. Poreda, Fields, Getz, Flowers, and Allen for Holiday and Rolen. Your 2009 White Sox: Pods, Ramirez, Dye, Thome, Konerko, AJ, CQ, Rolen, Beckham Buerhle, Holiday, Danks, Floyd, Contreras (Richard goes back as a long reliever/spot starter until 2010 when he replaces Contreras) Rolen has 1 more year left on his deal for 11 million. We'd either have to get some cash in return or get the Blue Jays to take on one of our bad contracts, and the only one that comes to mind is Linebrink.

The first two prequels did suck, but the 3rd one was really good. My favorite of all of them is probably Empire Strikes Back.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) I hope the Giants do something with that offense. It'd be a shame to let that pitching go to waste. I'd want no part of Lincecum/Cain in a playoff series (especially a best of 5) if I'm an NL contender. Rumor is that they really like Freddy Sanchez. He'd be a start, but they need more power in the middle of that lineup.
  24. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Bruce was basically saying that there is no way they do a full re-do of Wrigley. Won't have the money to do that. The best part was Bruce saying, "In some parts of Chicago, it would be condemned, but this is Wrigley Field." So, they will rebuild Wrigley? You gotta go with the opposite of what Bruce says. Also, lets say the Cubs do rebuild wrigley in the same spot and have to play a year in the cell... wouldn't we make a good profit off of that? Wouldn't the revenue drawn into the stadium when the Cubs play come to JR and the sox? Or at least a portion of it? Or at the very least, you'd think we'd make the cubs at least pay to play there.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Which one of those 5 goes to the bullpen? Put Jose in the pen, but I'd have him ready just in case Floyd or Danks falter early.
