QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) If a kid goes up looking for a walk and gets it, I can't complain. Complacency can't be punished when it produces results. If the kid goes down looking on that fastball... hell yeah, I'd be pissed, but still he took the best pitch of the at bat for a strike and then laid off the crap. If you go up there looking to walk rather than hit, you won't last long. There's nothing wrong with getting walks, but that is a god awful approach at bat.

There really isn't a reason why Castro shouldn't catch for Contreras from now on.
-
If you missed the LSU game today, you can likely watch the game on ESPN 360 anytime, like I will do. However, the game might be re-aired in the middle of the night on either ESPN channel.

Guess who's career averages these are (the percentages take into account all years, but the other stats are averaged from seasons with only 600+ AB's): .275 BA | .366 OBP | .486 SLG | 142 SO | 82 BB | 41 2B | 27 HR | 81 RBI | 29 SB | 116 R If you guessed , you are correct! If Jordan Danks can come anywhere near those numbers in the majors, I'll be f***ing ecstatic.
-
I didn't see it... but from Dam's descriptions, that certainly sounds like a guy looking to walk rather than a guy looking to hit.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) Is Danks a little banged up? Not in the lineup tonight against a RHP. With the way things are going, you always have to wonder if he's been called up. He's been in a bit of a funk, so maybe he just got the day off to rest mentally.

QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) its not a rumor, just something I speculated The Mets are in dire need of a catcher, why not ship AJ to New York? I have no idea what we would/could get in return. The only negative is AJ is still a good hitter, something we need desperately on this team. Of course, you only do this trade, if we really are gonna give up on 2009 IMO The Mets already traded one of their catchers to us....

I think Rudy was the only movie that ever made me cry.
-
I figured Pujols was kind of a given though. Should have stated that better.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) Please show concrete proof before accusing. I don't know if your being serious, but I didn't think green was needed for my post. Mauer and Theriot are obviously not juicers.
-
I just realized you could make a legit case for Mauer and Morneau as the two best hitters in the American League, if not in all of baseball.
-
Right now, I'd rather face Pujols than Mauer, but that's only because Mauer has been absolutely on fire since he came back.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) It's an organization decision, not a Williams choice. Rick Hahn deals with every contract anyways. While Hahn does deal with every contract, I recall back in 05 or 06 we had him exclusively work on signing Crede.
-
It's obvious Mauer and Theriot are juicers... The Twins are gonna be scary for a long time as long as they have Mauer and Morenau in that lineup. They really need to move Mauer to 3B or even LF. With his recent back injury, it might be wisest to do it sooner rather than later.
-
Not only haven't we faced Parra before, but he's a lefty with a good changeup... be prepared for a long day at the plate.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) we all know how Mr Boras doesn't do extensions when his clients are primed to go into free agency. I know that... I was being hypothetical though. We gotta stop this no doing business with Boras thing, and let Hahn do all the work when we deal with him. Maybe the fact we drafted Goodwin is a good sign...

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Ugh, Papa Johns pizza has no flavor, and the sauce is too sweet for me. Pizza Hut just doesnt use good ingredients IMO. The garlic sauce for Papa Johns also makes me kinda sick, so my opinion of their pizza will change since alot of people like it and I dont use the garlic sauce. Caesars is the best out of the options because the crust is meh, the sauce has a decent flavor, and the cheese and toppings are also decent. But they make the difference in the little things because they actually use spices such as oregano to add flavor. Is it good pizza? No, but its decent. Papa Johns and Pizza Hut are bad pizza IMO. Dominos is cardboard with a red-like substance on it. I would love to spend more and get a better pizza, but Im also a poor college student. Speaking of expensive pizza... nothing beats Home Run Inn's thin crust or Giordano's stuffed pizzas. I could eat those all day. Also, nothing beats home run inn frozen pizza, if you go the frozen pizza route.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) You will probably be walking into an office building some day, see a guy playing guitar on the street, and get a craving for pizza. Just letting you know. Considering I like to eat... I get a craving for pizza a lot.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) They have a 7 game lead with 9 games left to play. Guess I won't get to see them clinch at home this year. How does the halves system work again? So if Birmingham clinches the 1st half, are they in the playoffs for sure? Also, do all levels have the halves system?
-
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) You need to see him hit. He loves to hit it to the opposite field, much more often than pulling the ball. He has the ability to be a major RBI producer. That's a really good sign...
-
His other stats do look sexy...
-
Everytime I drive by that place, there's some jackass out in front pretending to play guitar and dancing around. Oddly enough, while seeing that guy infuriates me, I get a craving for pizza.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 02:16 AM) I'm a huge fan of sophomore Virginia CF Jarret Parker. That dude's a f***in' stud. He's got top-10 pick written all over him next year. we thought Mitchell K'd a lot... just checked the stats, and Parker K'd 71 times this year!!!

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...9&fext=.jsp Interesting stuff. Seems like next year will be pitching heavy once again.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) What the hell...we should be selling, not buying with this god awful team. Bust them up already! If we're not giving up a s*** load and we can sign him to an extension, a move like this makes perfect sense... if we're trading a lot for a renta player though, yeah, it makes no sense.
