  1. I don't think it is the government owes you a retirement. If we have decided as a society it is better to feed and shelter the hungry and homeless, that would include the retired. I see social security, in part, as forced savings. It's the government saying, dammit, if we are responsible to feed and shelter you, we're going to mandate that you will contribute via payroll deductions. And as far as food and shelter, into the equation is reduction in crime and where to go for help. I'm as faith based as most here, if not more, but image a system where Churches ran all the soup kitchens. Would the Christian right really prefer a system where people listened to a Islamic or Satanic service in order to eat? I'm guessing not.

Obama seems to be the favorite here, but it's very close. I'm surprised, very surprised.

The system is flawed and since most people are so afraid of a negative feedback, it holds everyone in check and we get this worthless system.

    QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) Based on Primary results, Obama would score a mid 30's. We'll see.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) now we're getting somewhere. I knew there was something more to it. We've both had negative experiences from two different sides. eBay is screwing the pooch by lumping me in with bigger businesses. They should perfect the system, not elminate it. Talk about thinking inside the box that's inside another box. As a seller I always refund whenever someone asks. So I never would have had your problem. Including the person who bought a video game from me, played it for at least a week, then claimed it was defective. Managed to work in two other systems when I got it back. No problem, I re listed, it cost me a couple bucks, but she was happy. I was also as accurate as I could be with why it was negative.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) Nah, Clinton's good for at least 20% in Utah. Kerry was good for 26%, I'm guessing the DEM candidate for change is in the teens at best.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) Weren't you the one telling me to stay on my side of the street, Tex? :-P

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Good question. But the truth is we only have three major candidates left. However, on the bright side, UT loves Romney. Romney - 90% McCain - 5% Wow. Predicting the future . . . However, on the bright side, UT loves white men. McCain - 90% Clinton - 5% Wow.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) You are really into physical appearance when it comes to candidates. Nixon lost to Kennedy, in part, because he sweated like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee during their televised debate. We want our president looking "Presidential". Confident, strong, etc.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) Well that and making babies Already been done and I am surprised that you would miss the reference.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:53 AM) So when is the last time we have had four major candidates left in the game at this stage of an election cycle? It's been a while, but I'm not certain how "in" Romney is. It's looking pretty bleak on the delegate count. What will be interesting is looking back in 5 or 10 years and seeing why some excellent candidates did not gain any traction. I think we all thought Rudy G would have been a factor, and Thompson certainly had potential. But they were like a wet sparkler on the 4th of July in states where they are still legal.
  12. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) This was a disturbingly short rant. The ADHD manifesto? I posted this earlier in the video thread, but here it is again to make sure all the candidates have rattled Tex's cage real good. I added that to my blog excellent
  13. This is starting to have a Kennedy-esque feel to it. He would be the best looking President since Kennedy.

QUOTE(juddling @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) As much as I hate to put two Kevin Costner movies on my list.....he does make a fine sports movie..... --Bull Durham --Tin Cup and my non-KC movie would have to be Slap Shot with Paul Newman. I always have to watch that movie when i see it on TBS. What he said. Perfect list.

The system doesn't work perfectly as it was. As a seller, I always gave immediate feedback as soon as the buyer paid for the product. As a buyer, as soon as I received the product and was happy with it. One thing that is not reflected in the system are the sellers with 20,000+ transactions, they are running a business like any other and should offer a higher level of service then someone like PA. If I'm unhappy with an item after I receive it, you're damn right I will speak up. I bought a 8 port USB hub that was crap from a seller. The case would not stay shut, and had compatibility issues with HP printers and Western Digital external drives. It was new in box, unopened, and they were selling hundreds of them each week. They refused to do anything, so I left negative feedback. I also bought some memorabilia that was suppose to be mint, and it had some drawer dirt and a couple smudges. It was a private seller who did not know what we considered "mint" in this hobby. They also refused to do anything and I gave them neutral, allowing for their ignorance in the field.
  17. BTW, I believe after yesterday my man McCain is the GOP nominee, a thank you to the other candidates for playing the game, but let's stop fighting Reps and start thinking about how to stop the Obama - Clinton train.
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) Read the wikipedia entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_dollar International Use It's enough to get you thinking about a new Depression within the next 20 years. Thanks for the link

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) Edwards staying in would have handed Clinton the nomination, just like having a three person race gave the nod to McCain for the GOP. I start getting a headache when we begin to decipher how one candidate effects the others. In a five person race with two chimps, a zebra, an elephant, and a chipmunk, the chimpmunk takes the small critter vote from the chimps, but the chimps take the poo flinging votes from the elephant, who takes the walks on four legs vote from the Zebras, who take the eat grass vote from the chimpmunks . . .
  20. Here's the point Huck, who used it a lot last night. By the time you are in position to actually have a campaign for President, you are part of the same machine as everyone else. You can't change anything that much besides the face we see on TV. Wow, that face is younger, older, whiter, blacker, then the last person we elected for "change". Here's change Huck, a Senator being elected after a 40 year string of Governors. Not talking about that change? In our lifetimes we've seen monumental shifts on who is elected, we've seen the Dems and the GOP have free reign and basically there is no change that anyone can really see and feel. It really doesn't matter, in a sense who we elect, at best that can cause this huge lumbering country to veer .001 degrees from the path it is on.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) And there is that whole democratic thing of redistributing wealth by taxing the living crap out of people who they deem rich and redistributing that to the lower class. Thats a bit socialist don't you think. If you mean by redistributing wealth you mean education benefits, better roads, better police and fire protection, health services that keep communicable deseases like TB from spreading, then you are right. Let's live in a country that only the poorest can afford. Let's cut food programs to the poorest, let's cut financial aid, let's cut health services. Let's get out of Iraq because the poorest can't afford that war.

  23. I favor a constitutional ban to any candidate at the state or federal level campaigning on a theme of change. It is the single biggest pile of crap that a candidate can use. One person, even one party, can not make that great of a change. It will be 98% of the same old crap no matter who wins. So Mitt, Huck, Obama, Hill, and Johnny, STFU about change.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) think those people have seen Mitt's speech a few times? lol His advance people are rehearsing the crowd.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) you don't get to be "disappointed". You read the discription of the item and make a choice as whether to buy. If you dont like the outcome, you're the idiot. Now if I misrepresented something, that's a different story. this is not a retail store where the customer is always right. this is private individuals doing business through a 3rd party. This guy didn't ask questions and didn't ask for a return. He was simply upset that the junk that he bought from me wasn't a gem. I upheld my side and got burned...therefore, what is my recourse under the new rules? I won't be selling anymore, that's what. Recourse? So you think someone saw your negative and then checked his to see if you gave him a negative? Doesn't work that way. But if revenge is important to you, then I guess you shouldn't sell there.
