QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) I'm an internet junkie solely because of your avatar. ain't that the truth.

QUOTE(NUKE @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) You see, the funny thing is that a lot of that sort of thing gets labeled sectarian crime and thusly is somehow the military's problem when it would happen anyway. Which is why I was thinking if we applied "success" factoring in this stuff, what American city would pass? The law enforcement aspect to me seems like a huge misdirection of our attention. Seems unfair to our military.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:50 AM) The lady basically says she wants to stop the free market process and redistribute their wealth and that's a GOP problem? GMAFB. Some days, you're not even worth talking to. I'm not going to sit here and argue, anyone that would like to understand her quotes *in context* follow the snopes.com link.

And the free market failed. That's socialism at it's finest according to the GOP? The free market failed, if you read where that sound bite was taken from, in making abortion rare. I guess that reducing abortions is socialism? You guys are usually at least accurate when you take someone to task for comments. This is just unfair. There are plenty of things to criticize Hillary for without this sort of stuff.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 08:31 AM) Out of context or not, she is saying that she wants to enact socialistic policies, PERIOD. I guess this shows how effective sound bites are. So the Federal Trade Commission is a socialist agency? That overview of the oil industry is a socialist item. That trying to reduce our reliance on foreign oil is socialism? So Republicans favor stopping all monitoring of the most profit industry, the oil industry.

From a Survey of Out of Context statements perhaps? Perhaps a visit to snopes.com? http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/marxist.asp

Now this is a cool professor. Changed tonight's test to a take home and mentioned he needed to get to the Halloween party at his house. Then proceeded to invite the class.

SS convinced me the flat tax is the worst idea, ever. It unfairly taxes the lowest income levels who can least afford it. Look at it like homes. If you make $500,000 per year you have a certain home. Perhaps 4-5 bedrooms, a pool, five baths, a four car garage, etc. If you make $20,000 per year you probably rent, or if you do own your home, it is a modest 1,400 sq foot 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage. Each person can afford that home. Now look at taxes paying for the country we live in. Do you want to live in the country that is built based on what the guy that makes $20,000 per year can afford to pay in taxes? That is what a flat tax would create. Instead we have to tax the individuals who can afford it the most, in order to have the security we want, the roads we want, the education we want, etc.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Taxing is one thing. Boning someone who makes over a certain amount for no good reason is another. At a certain point, your tax rate is higher already the more you make. So whats with the inital kick before they reach in for the rest of the money. There is no need to tax the wealthy. By not taxing them, they will spend their money, employing more people, and with all that growth will come more money than what the government could ever hope to get by taxing them. It's been proven, just look at the last round of cuts and the resulting surpluses.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 02:39 PM) Of course not. . . . I was going to say, top shelf tequila and coffee have worked better, beer seemed to impersonal

Reading the news in any big city, shootings, knifing, killing, theft, assault, how much of what we are seeing is the run of the mill, third world big city violence that wouldn't be reported if the US military wasn't right there?
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) And, by the way, none of those things on that list work if a student is trying to befriend me nearly as well as a 6-pack of Guinness on nights when I gave to grade papers. Would you really accept a six-pack from a student?

QUOTE(mreye @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) Where is "Hook him up with a coed"?? Right after, be the coed.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 11:14 AM) It amazing how stupid the democrats are on their taxation plans. Goofs like Rangle can't wait to shove his hand in my pockets to steal more money. A Sur tax, kiss my ass. Why even tax us? Borrow the damn money, someone else will pay.

"This conversation is making me uncomfortable. My manner of dress is similar to the other women in the company and at my clients. Thank you for your concern, but until today, none of my clients have ever made mention of my dress" It could be that someone at a client said something about her and he is feeling paternal. For example, he's talking to the President of a client's company and he says. that Mary, wow! You really know how to hire 'em. etc.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 10:07 PM) This has pretty much been proven to be bulls***. Jerry Buss more than anybody wanted Shaq out of LA, he was sick of O'Neal's bulls***. Kobe is not responsible for Shaq's departure. Public relations.

Entertainment, a choice we make to accept and allow versus war. Following your logic, and tapping into my love of hyperbole and sarcasm Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, members of the Senate and the House of Representatives: Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific . . . . . . I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire. Of course by making this declaration of war, and by following this path, we must now allow any forms of entertainment to be produced and shown, no matter how violent or perverse. Franklin D. Roosevelt - December 8, 1941

In analyzing any deal for Kobe, you also have to factor in a year from now which players he will demand to be traded. Please stay away from him.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) What do you mean by "Jumps the shark"? I have not seen it used in this context before. Ratings are slipping, you need a big show to get back on track. This will be marked where his campaign stopped being relevant. Thanks for playing the game, it was fun. Enjoy a vacation with your hot wife.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) actually, in this case, it is... Since male and female, gay and straight, have all been infected, I think it is not specific.

Didn't the Dems try this the past cycle? I guess it must have been successful. He seems like a good candidate and anything that brings better candidates into the mix is a good thing.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 11:52 AM) where a team is lucky to have two good starters and hacks like Erstad, Uribe, and all those rag bullpen arms out there on a daily basis. Expansion has diluted the starting talent more than salaries. I actually think salaries would have the opposite effect, with the higher salaries attracting athletes to the sport that may have concentrated on basketball or football. I agree with everything else you wrote.
