  1. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) just received that email... sounds serious. Anyone that might be able to help, here's her email: KristyColwell@andesdelsur.com I never receive those emails.
  2. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) I am sure we could find alot more than 200 that we could do without. And while we were at it, we could grab a bunch of people from the Humane Society of the United States, which actually has nothign to do with any of the local Humane Societies in the country, but is almost a clone of PETA, just with a better name. And we could find the dog fighters, cultists, and other assorted torturers of animals. I guess it becomes which side you want to be on dog.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 08:35 AM) Do that and candidates could have debates with themselves.
  4. Texsox posted a topic in The Filibuster
Any chance we could pull off this idea. A debate but the only posts allowed are candidate quotes with attribution? Perhaps we could try with one topic and see how it runs?
  5. QUOTE(zimne piwo @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 01:49 AM) Hello, yeah it's been a while (since we've done this), so here we go... Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone Dont it always seem to go That you dont know what youve got Till its gone
  6. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) Yup, they are surley a class unto themselves, those PETA people. http://www.consumerfreedom.com/pressReleas...cfm/release/109 As usual, Tex, you take my comment and go so way over the top that it isn't funny. Cruelty to animals is one thnig. My wife, myself and my oldest son do alot of work for the local Humane Society, donating both time and money. But when PETA devolves into protesting windmill farms because a few birds might get hurt, settign tame minks free into the winter snowscape to die rather than be used for fur, or to try and take away my steak dinner, they have go too far. And if someone from PETA showed up to protest the testing on COCKROACHES, that would just be sad. I am sure PETA has many menbers who are caring, loving people who desire better treatment for animals. But there are also many in PETA who couldn't give two s***s about you and me, as long as the animals are better off. I guess the ones in the story I linked don't fit into either catagory. However, I don't think they were merely just 2 rouge elements in an otherwise pristine system, but rather that the system is rotten to the core and merely shows us the side it wants us to see in order to keep raising money. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa38...01/ai_n17180337 C'mon, who with a sane mind would make this comparrison as a moral equivilent: Which is why I find it so funny you suggest 200 should be radiated.
  7. To be fair, Rush says stuff on his show, a lot of stuff. Could he have a slip of the tongue? Could he misspeak? Of course. It is up to the audience to decide.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) I don't KNOW exactly what he meant. But I'm not going to make a statement as fact the meant this or that. You don't have to, plenty of Rush's fans and supporters have already done so. BTW, RUSH is still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  9. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) Maybe they can test the myth that PETA people could survive radiation and use them for the next experiment. The first 200 that show up to protest instead volunteer. Really, what kind of losers would go around protesting against the torture of animals? Maybe PETA should have been at Abu Ghraib instead of shooting Come on, they're rats for God sake. Of course, like many other US government and private interests, what to do if you can't torture? outsource
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) You're a mind reader now. As is everyone who claims he meant only one guy, or only one group.
  11. Texsox replied to Texsox's topic in The Filibuster
In concept I agree. Then look at all the competing interests around the world. Is it possible to achieve something?
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) The "conservatives" want a true conservative candidate, who also has name power. No one outside of a select few really gives two craps about the guys in the race now. The two guys leading the race are both guys who are way to centric to satisfy that wing of the party. Thompson gives them name recognition and a record to go with it. Personally I do think you are reading too far into that statement to make it into something else convient. All of the candidates seem to be trying to corner the "one with God" thing. Its rather annoying actually, as if you know anything about Christianity, you aren't supposed to be doing things for recognition, it is supposed to be between you and God. If religion is a system of beliefs, isn't it important to know what those are for a candidate?
  13. Speaking at a gathering of Evangelicans linked I can see why some people here are impressed. He seems to be garnering the hard core religious types. Perhaps cleaning up the airwaves, slowing the porn industry, cutting back on abortions, might be a step in the right direction.
  14. Is there value in a forum for all the world's nations?
  15. That is so cool. They were just down at my University for HESTEC.
  16. But if they drop their private insurance, they will have more money to spend and that results in billions of tax dollars.
  17. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 12:01 PM) His whole issue of whether or not he deserved a Purple heart would have been greatly diminished if he had actually thrown his away in protest, like he pretended to do. if he had not held ontp the real thing for some reporter to see in his office, no story. Exactly. The value is in what they do with the award. We all learned that the military hands these out like band aids without much fact checking. It is a shame that in the effort to smear and disgrace Kerry they caused every Purple Heart to be questioned. Only the most partisan GOPerheads will believe Kerry was the only one to fraudulently receive those awards. Only the most partisan will believe that all those other medals were earned. So how many were faked? 40%? 80%? 99% I guess we'll never know. I use to believe the military had honor and integrity and would not fake awards. I believe the Swifties should have focused on his actions after serving his time. But instead some veterans felt the need to smear a fellow veteran. Ironic since the other candidate used family influence to avoid serving in Vietnam. It was one of several things I did not like about Clinton, and Bush.

    QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 08:43 AM) There's your 2006-2007-2008 Democratic Partiy in a nutshell. Thanks for the soundbite, Bohner...
  19. I get the S&C feed. Some of the buys are excellent.
  20. 6.) Advertising dollars funneled through and from Republican donors. Even markets like this which is 90% Dem have a plethora of conservative talk. Give them air time and it makes a profit for the stations regardless of ratings. 7.) All the hatred for the "liberal media" and a desire to know the "truth". 8.) Older people listen to more radio than younger. 9.) as Kickass mentioned, better talent, hands down, not even close. It's like community theater and Broadway.
  21. I was playing with the search function and found a couple tid bits. Back in 2004 I was suggesting Bush should run with McCain and in August of 2005 posted this For those that have said McCain is some recent facination and only a passing fad.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) I've hung around a Tigers board on occasion. There are some smart posters in there. Also, my favorite team site (non-Sox) used to be Bat Girl. People here will probably hate me for that. Anyway, I thought she was bloody hilarious. But I guess she is sort of retired now. I traded a few batgirlll emails. She is very funny, and a good baseball fan.
  23. He managed to stick around there a lot longer than anyone else would have. I think he's about ready to hit the broadcast booth then retire.
  24. Pfft, actors, what do they know about running the country?
  25. I wish I was amazed.
