  1. This is a perfect example of when to bump a 14 year old thread.
  2. I totally agree. I also remind myself that I've thought that for most of the past 50 off seasons and yet I allowed them to continue to disappoint. I'm going in with really low expectations. I'm not going to plan my days around watching or listening to games. I'm not going to plan trips to Chicago around home stands. I'm looking at some east coast and Canada games based on when I'm going to be there, not when the Sox will be in town. The last part I think will be cool. Cheering for the home team may enhance the experience.
  3. After fifty years of off season optimism I'm in the "I'll get excited when I see something on the field to get excited about" club. I do wish I had the old enthusiasm but I've been fooled to often but JR and Co. They've worn me down.
  4. What I liked most when I had season tickets (Sox, Bulls) it was making friends with everyone around me, knowing the vendors in my section, not worrying about sight lines, etc. I probably would still have them if I was living in Chicago.
  5. I'm laughing and crying at the same time.
  6. Upon further review by the figurative replay official, I'll withdraw my extrapolation of your comment and take a five yard penalty. Also, I appreciate your use of language.
  7. I wouldn't actually bet the under. This is more about my expectations. If expecting them to win 90 games makes you feel like a bigger Sox fan than someone who expects 80 wins, I'm happy for you.
  8. Expectations so low you can trip on them! Even our front office is injured! Increasing shareholder value since 1981! We're not the Cubs!
  9. I'll take the under. Always the under. You can't lose on the emotion. Then it's either being right or pleasantly surprised. Take the over and be wrong and disappointed or right and happy.
  10. By the way, the clinical term for the surgery is an addadicktome
  11. Excellent point jerksticks
  12. How often to we trust the people we work with to not screw up? Makes you stop and think.
  13. This thread is longer than . . . Yeah too easy
  14. Is that a mini Vienna sausage in your pocket or are happy to see me?
  15. Kraft wants Brady to sign a one day contract to retire as a Patriot. Stupid or cool?
  16. If true, he really should be in a Sox uniform.
  17. Yesterday my wife and I were in the dentist office when we both received news that we were closed on Wednesday as well. We both gave a little yell "yes!" It's causing a little jam up in my golf schedule. Normally this time of year I have two to three tournaments a week. Now I have four days out for a few of them. My sub will be busy earning her "cruise ship" money.
  18. Fifty years ago I would have been standing, rocking with nervous energy in front of the TV, as Ray Raynor read off the list of school closings. Then rushing to get outside with my friends. Today it was glance at a text on my phone, roll over, and sleep a couple more hours. Either way, winter bliss.
  19. We have a couple home improvement projects that we will finally finish. One with our "stick and bricks" and one in our "mini casa" travel trailer.
  20. . . . your new hire is indicted a week after you sign him. I'm certain we can write a book on things that go wrong on the days, weeks, and months after signing. . . . his agent insisted on no back to back games for three months.
  21. Because this team is a dumpster fire, just enjoy the game, embrace the career role players, and enjoy the experience. Nothing beats a summer's evening at the ball park.
