QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Wikipedia tells me (and I, believe it because it's on the Internet and therefore must be true) that in order to be a michelada, it has to have worcester and or tabasco in it. I dunno. My source is my bartender, and they are always right I've never seen Tabasco brand used. It is usually a different chili sauce. There are differences, I can tell on my popcorn. Which btw, Tabasco on popcorn with a michelada is awesome How are you microlacerations? Do you need some microband-aids?

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) I heard about her, too. I hear she can bench press about 400 pounds QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) I know I can't; how 'bout you? QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) Suuuure I can... ...not all at once, though. -
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) The carpet thing depends on the fibers. If the fibers are natural than barefoot is great, but if they are synthetic it tends to give my feet lots of microlacerations and socks are the way to go. microlacerations. wtf kind of board do you think you are posting at? Take those $$ words back to those PhD forums QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) I saw that when they introduced it. Ewww. Mostly because of the bad beer the recipe starts with. I'm not a fan of the tomato juice in beer thing, but I respect is as a regional variation on the theme. A traditional chelada can be good though and doesn't necessarily have the Clamato in it. The juice of one or two whole limes (depending on how much you like your limes) mixed with a Negro Modello or Dos Equis dark can be quite refreshing. Actually we call them micheladas down here and they are quite tasty. I had to get past adding anything to beer. Then ice and beer. But either with lime juice or bloody mary mix, they are great. I also prefer Sol or Pacifico when I make them.

Ketchup is not the answer, it's close, but not the best investment, the correct advice is salsa GEORGE: "Why don't they have salsa on the table?" JERRY: "What do you need salsa for?" GEORGE: "Salsa is now the number one condiment in America." JERRY: "You know why? Because people like to say "salsa." "Excuse me, do you have any salsa?" "We need more salsa." "Where is the salsa? No salsa?" GEORGE: "You know it must be impossible for a Spanish person to order seltzer and not get salsa. "I wanted seltzer, not salsa!" JERRY: "Don't you know the difference between seltzer and salsa? You have the seltezer after the salsa!"

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) Again, assbag of assbags. I think we have some good people trying to live up to an impossibly high standard in both parties.

I was thinking about b****'s comments about the lawyer that made him puke in his mouth by filing a lawsuit. Just wondering, but is our system really better off if the lawyers become the judges too? Shouldn't everyone have access to our legal system? We should have a way for a Judge to quickly and cheaply dismiss a case, but I would be uncomfortable if we created a system where it was up to the attorneys to determine if someone has an easy to win case or not.

Jim, While this wasn't directed at me, as usual, I will weigh in. For those that believe, there are no small passages in the Bible. The word of God does not have to be repeated a set number of times before it has value. I do agree that some people will cherry pick verses to fit their view of the world. We do that in all areas of our lives, from politics to religion. Next in this mix is the subject of witnessing, of bringing others to God. Each faith takes a different path with this, from those that will go door to door, to those with a more quiet approach. Of course, individuals take their own path as well. The most powerful example of that in my life was an incredible man I worked with who showed how much fun you could have and still look your Pastor in the eyes on Sunday. (Brian, thank you wherever you are, I miss you) So now we have people of faith who read the Bible and want to put their faith to work and bring others to Jesus. Some even believe they are commanded to do so. Some will quietly lead a life that encourages others to follow and still others will stand on a street corner and preach. I'm personally uncomfortable with street corner sermons and think they turn off more than they help. For others, they try for the easy sell. Taking two extremes, would be easier to tell you your life could be a little happier if you started going to Church, but your already a nice person and I'm certain God will accept you just the way you are, or tell someone they are going to Hell and need to change? Some opt for the going to hell route. And what are some of the quickest ways for a one way ticket on the long black train? Certainly homosexuality has become the new Communism. And people of faith are involved in many areas, and it's sad that a couple hot button topics steal all the press and form people's opinions. But each person gravitates to areas they are interested in. Human rights, abortion, capital punishment, living wage, health care, poverty, homosexuality, environment, immigration, etc. And every person will prioritize that list differently. Does God really care if Michael is homosexual? That is a question that I have not invested any time or effort to understand. I choose to be involved in different areas. My hunch is he cares that Michael is leading a good Christian life, including attending Church.

A few thoughts I am glad a major religion does not change easily. Our understanding of Biblical truths happens gradually and change must be done with great thought and not to bend to popular whims. I wonder why God would spend so much time allowing gay sex. I great deal of people are offended by the notion of homosexuality. It isn't that they are concerned about what others do, as Soxy mentions, but become involved when the issue is placed in front of them with protests, demands to allow homosexual unions, etc. It becomes a matter of public discourse then and people have opinions. Seismic shifts in our society do not occur without a great deal of debate, anger, and sometimes hurt feelings. When we are messing with eternal life, some people get really concerned. So I applaud the intelligent debate, no matter their opinion. I personally favor civil unions as the only legally recognized contract recognized by this country. Further, since we would be taking sex out of the equation, you should be able to form one of these unions with anyone you desire. Relatives for matters of health care, survivorship, etc. But one at a time.

And because I have a great Doctor, I want choice left into the system for those that can afford it. As far as prevention and patient education, I think we need to expand the role of nurses and nurse practitioners.

Major props to Texas State University and their move in. Easiest ever. Pulled right up to my son's dorm, checked in took less than 5 minutes, lots of RA help, rooms were ready to go. From pulling up to moved in, including rearranging his dorm for bunks, less than 1 hour.

Great point. Don't suspend him while in prison. I wonder if he'll be playing in Arena II, Canada, or would his suspension cover NFL-Euro -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) The government, on our behalf. I have always envisioned a tiered structure which allows government payed, universal coverage for everyone. Probably without choice, but utilizing care facilities that would replace needless trips to the ER. Then a second tier, probably funded optionally by employers, to allow choice and greater access to additional, non critical, care. And finally, private insurance, personally owned, that would reflect what many people have today. You must be a registered alien, at the minimum to qualify, all others will have to hope for private charities. Harsh, perhaps.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) Sounds like a little kid throwing a tantrum. "I never wanted it anyway. It is stupid." As part of his disbarment, (word?) he is prohibited from displaying his law license.

There you go. Privileges get abused by some and it gets taken away from many.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) You missed the two other big players - insurance companies, and health care companies. Insurance companies have to have their premiums paid by one of the three. That's what I was pointing to. Who should be paying the premiums?
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) It depends on how things get structured. Really, if you look at it, employer costs of health care is a hidden tax, in a sense. But, some companies choose to pay more on behalf of their employees as a "wellness" benefit. If a person is making $8.00 an hour, they're going to get caught in the existing safety net anyway... and the taxpayers will pay for it anyway as it exists TODAY. (this is very generic... but generally, this is the case)... especially if you're an illegal immigrant, oddly enough. So let the government do it? There are exactly three groups to pay for this. Government Employers Individuals Which one has the best chance to control costs, have everyone covered, and offer choices for those that can afford it? As you pointed out, everyone does have coverage of some sort via our safety net and not allowing people to just suffer and die.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) My old laptop is falling apart! Today the n key fell off, and the guy said to fix it we would need to replace the whole keyboard due to the age of the computer. Dammit. I can live without an "n" I use a remote keyboard and mouse most of the time I use my laptop. My new machine has bluetooth built in, so I bought a blue tooth set up. But you should be able to pick up a cheap keyboard and just plug it in. I also place my notebook on a stand which elevates the display to be more like a desktop. At the minimum, it is a cheap and quick fix to this problem. BTW, after playing with my son's new Mac laptop, I really did not like the keyboard, but the rest of the machine seemed nice. I still would stay with a PC, at my advanced age, why relearn commands and such?

This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.

QUOTE(Cknolls @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Add three more victims to the illegal murder list. Its a great country isn't it? Illegal kills our citizens after twice receiving bail for two previous crimes. God forbid you ask someone to show proof of residency. Ask the five year old this sick f*** raped. Ask the parents of these three people who were murdered if they care about this a******* rights. We must be sensitive to illegals' rights. Sanctuary country is what we are people. New Jersey should fry this guy ..yesterday. They would have been so much happier if they had been murdered by an honest to goodness US citizen. Just like the DC sniper victims and Oklahoma City victims. Criminals are criminals and animals are animals. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 09:12 AM) Ok Tex, you almost always take the side of having government fix everything, including health care. You've implied before (not in this thread) that there's not enough done to provide health insurance for all, so the next logical leap is to have our government do it for us. Who are you kidding? Sheep in Wolves Clothing, or something like that. Unless it's Tom DeLay. Now HE'S the Second Coming, not Obama. On things that are better at a massive scale, yes, that is why the citizens on this country formed a government. So if not the government, how about employers? Or how will you have someone making $8.00 per hour afford even catastrophic insurance?

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 08:04 AM) Cost ME about $500 a month. Which many employees do not understand. That is about $3 an hour benefit. Probably is about 20% or more of his cost to you.
