  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) question... If you don't owe anything, do you have to file? Do you mean you had no income? Then no. And there are certain minimums on income. But the bottom line is that most of the time, if your receive a W-2 that you paid income tax during the year, you need to file a return*. *Not a substitute for actual expert advice. YMMV.
  2. The whole modern closer thing has spun out of control. It seems now they have to be part psychotic, and have a razor thin point of great / suck.
  3. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I actually got money back this year (albiet very small) for the first time in 5 years. Gotta love mortgages. Send 'em more during the year and getting a bigger check, and a warning I am amazed by people (not you) who look at this like a savings account. They knowingly overpay during the year, giving a zero interest loan, and enjoying a big refund, that they reduce by paying for electronic filing and a cash advance. Why not pay the correct amount, put the oberpayment in a savings account, and earn interest?

  6. Meanwhile, any team that hires a stripper should probably think twice. Tossing another bone out there, do we think if this had been Duke's basketball team they would have been so quick to cancel the season? I believe, not a chance. It is pretty easy to cancel a non-revenue sport.
  7. Is pitcher's choice a team thing or an established custom around the league? I'll join those in saying it's the first I knew that, I assumed the team had to notify the league in advance if they were making a uniform switch. I figured there was a schedule laid out at the start of the year since some of the uniforms corresponded with special events. Google search, Diamondbacks have the SP select.
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) The boots always fit huge and loose on their legs, so they move around, not to mention, it's summer, aren't they hot as hell? Not unusually hot. Your feet and lower legs are always in shade. Actually sandals and stuff with the sun beating down, are hot also. The desert dwellers learned a thing or two about surviving in heat and sun. Loosly wrapped, garmets covering the skin are usually cooler. It is also one of the times in the out of doors where cotton actually works well. In cold weather cotton kills.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) I saw a lot of this when I was in Cali. recently and now I'm seeing it here these past few days that we've had warm weather. Women wearing shorts or short skirts and huge cowboy boots. WTF? I'm not sure I like it. Anyone? I prefer jeans and boots myself. The skirts and boots just seems a little weird. BTW, a great fitting pair of boots is about the best feeling on the feet. I have a pair of Justin steel toe ropers that are more comfy than slippers. Two for one
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 08:19 AM) LMAO I believe the Oz interview will also appear in the Playboy for Married Guys, it's the one with the same centerfold every month.
  11. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) Pissed off at someone or something? Someone.
  12. I believe the biggest question mark on the team is Jenks. Instant stars can just as quickly become instant flops. I also am not ready to give up on him and think he is the best option until proven otherwise. It would take a couple blown saves, some close jams he put himself into, some walks, etc. to start thinking about someone else. And IMHO a move to closer moves BMac further away from starting, not closer to, and I believe long term, he could make Sox fans forget about Buerhle as the greatest pitcher to put on a Sox uniform. (I am also predicting that by the time Buerhle finishes, he'll have a pot full of wins, a couple Cy Youngs, and a trip to Cooperston)
  13. What do you do when you are really, really, pissed off? I just went for an hour walk and got back and the &^#^^%$#(&^% is still pissing me off.

    Things to do in Utah

    I'm telling you people, if you love nature, there isn't a better state anywhere.
  15. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) FWIW, Ventura charged the mound after Nolan Ryan plunked him and I wouldn't consider Robin a "hothead" at all. I heard Ryan tell that story and by the end I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. He said he has laughed with Robin about it also.
  16. The AP reported he was examined at the house, that Doctor could have told her to take the baby to the hospital and ordered an x-ray, same as if you visited your Doctor in his office. Doctors refer patients for additional tests all the time. It is real easy to sit here and say I wouldn't have listened to that Doctor, I would have demanded this test or that test. But after raising two kids, and being in that position a couple times, if you trust your Doctor and have selected a good one, trusting his judgement is what I will do. But I have carefully selected a Doctor. I was in a similar situation with my son who fell out of a shopping cart at Dominicks in Vernon Hills. We took him immediately to his Pediatrician in Lake Forest who examined him. He had a bump on his head and we were very concerned. His Doctor's advice was to observe him over the next 72 hours and bring him back if we noticed anything out of the ordinary and gave us a list of specific things to look for. That turned out to be the correct course of action.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) :headshake My wife is an x-ray tech and worked in Highland Park's ER. She has witnessed so many needless exams, exposing kids to needless radiation and other procedures. If you don't trust the Doctor why go to him? Wouldn't you request a MRI which is better at detecting soft tissue problems? Why did you decide on an x-ray?
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:19 AM) One here. My kid or a kid I'm caring for hits their head on a floor, table, whatever, enough to leave a bruise - which is blood forming under the surface, and I'm taking them to the ER for an x-ray. And if the ER Doctor does not order the X-Ray? Presumably, this was their regular physician, someone they presumably would trust, and since he is making housecalls, I would assume, has decent credentials. I'm just saying I would follow the Doctors advice.
  19. Hmmm, she called a Doctor over immediately, which is what I would expect a celeb to do. No way she would want to go to the ER and have all the publicity. The Doctor said A-OK. How many parents would then go to the ER? If anything, I'd be upset with the initial diagnosis. She's still not the brightest bulb on the string, too bad they can't augment her brains, but she did seek medical attention, the Doctor was wrong.
