  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 08:19 AM) LMAO I believe the Oz interview will also appear in the Playboy for Married Guys, it's the one with the same centerfold every month.
  2. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) Pissed off at someone or something? Someone.
  3. I believe the biggest question mark on the team is Jenks. Instant stars can just as quickly become instant flops. I also am not ready to give up on him and think he is the best option until proven otherwise. It would take a couple blown saves, some close jams he put himself into, some walks, etc. to start thinking about someone else. And IMHO a move to closer moves BMac further away from starting, not closer to, and I believe long term, he could make Sox fans forget about Buerhle as the greatest pitcher to put on a Sox uniform. (I am also predicting that by the time Buerhle finishes, he'll have a pot full of wins, a couple Cy Youngs, and a trip to Cooperston)
  4. What do you do when you are really, really, pissed off? I just went for an hour walk and got back and the &^#^^%$#(&^% is still pissing me off.

    I'm telling you people, if you love nature, there isn't a better state anywhere.
  6. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) FWIW, Ventura charged the mound after Nolan Ryan plunked him and I wouldn't consider Robin a "hothead" at all. I heard Ryan tell that story and by the end I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. He said he has laughed with Robin about it also.

    The AP reported he was examined at the house, that Doctor could have told her to take the baby to the hospital and ordered an x-ray, same as if you visited your Doctor in his office. Doctors refer patients for additional tests all the time. It is real easy to sit here and say I wouldn't have listened to that Doctor, I would have demanded this test or that test. But after raising two kids, and being in that position a couple times, if you trust your Doctor and have selected a good one, trusting his judgement is what I will do. But I have carefully selected a Doctor. I was in a similar situation with my son who fell out of a shopping cart at Dominicks in Vernon Hills. We took him immediately to his Pediatrician in Lake Forest who examined him. He had a bump on his head and we were very concerned. His Doctor's advice was to observe him over the next 72 hours and bring him back if we noticed anything out of the ordinary and gave us a list of specific things to look for. That turned out to be the correct course of action.

    QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) :headshake My wife is an x-ray tech and worked in Highland Park's ER. She has witnessed so many needless exams, exposing kids to needless radiation and other procedures. If you don't trust the Doctor why go to him? Wouldn't you request a MRI which is better at detecting soft tissue problems? Why did you decide on an x-ray?

    QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:19 AM) One here. My kid or a kid I'm caring for hits their head on a floor, table, whatever, enough to leave a bruise - which is blood forming under the surface, and I'm taking them to the ER for an x-ray. And if the ER Doctor does not order the X-Ray? Presumably, this was their regular physician, someone they presumably would trust, and since he is making housecalls, I would assume, has decent credentials. I'm just saying I would follow the Doctors advice.

    Hmmm, she called a Doctor over immediately, which is what I would expect a celeb to do. No way she would want to go to the ER and have all the publicity. The Doctor said A-OK. How many parents would then go to the ER? If anything, I'd be upset with the initial diagnosis. She's still not the brightest bulb on the string, too bad they can't augment her brains, but she did seek medical attention, the Doctor was wrong.

    OMG, it is an outdoor lovers dream Moab area has Canyonlands National Park, Rafting down the Colorado River, Arches National Park, the Salt Lake Tabernacle should be reopening soon. Utah is an awesome state for outdoor stuff.
  14. The Monitor Perhaps the problem in Detroit is more understandable. Mission is a town of about 25,000; McAllen's population is about 125,000.
  15. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Since I am 6 days post-extraction, I should be clear of developing dry socket, right? We talking about teeth? yes
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Expelling 12 million criminals who are a burden to our social services and contribute FAR less than they take is the only appropriate measure to take. If he use the yardstick of contributing far less, then every poor person in America will have to be expelled. Employers will have to pay everyone a wage that will allow them to contribute in taxes the benefits they receive. These jobs will never pay that kind of wage. We all know that everyone working at minimum wage or even a step of two above it will not pay much in taxes and will qualify for Medicaid, Food Assistance Programs, educational assistance, will drive on the same roads, etc. For the most part these people are working jobs that need to be worked. Expelling them and crippling several industries, including our ag programs, is shortsighted and stupid. I do wish Reagan was still around, the great pillar of conservatism offered amnesty. Bush, who conservatives still believe is this outstanding leader, doesn't have the political capital to invest in amnesty, but is at least pushing for a guest worker program that leads to citizenship. But the rank and file, seem to reject their leadership in this area and I can't understand why.

  19. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) The employer doesn't have to be an ID expert, we both know this. Run his/her SS number or have some sort of background check on employees before you hire them if you are worried they may be illegal. The problem is the Social Security number usually will seem ok. Employers have made tax payments with the SS# and no problem. Only later is it discovered. If the IRS accepts the payments, the employer should not be held responsible when the employee is found to be undocumented. For these low end manual labor type jobs the turnover is usually so great that spending a lot of money on hiring, background checks, etc. would create a hardship. I guess you could check on every Mexican you hire, but that doesn't seem right. If the employer gathered the required information, and the forms were not obvious fakes, I wouldn't fine the employer. If they accepted an obvious fake, then that would be different.
  20. Picture and the rest of the story
  21. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) yes Seems harsh. Could put some people out of business. Someone shows up with a Drivers license and a social security card, it seems like an employer would have to trust that. I guess they will have to be experts on all 50 state driver's licenses and birth ceriticates from every city. I find it hard to fine the victim of a forgery. I guess the next outcry will be a renewed demand for national ID cards.
  22. As far as the employers, most of the illegals have paperwork (forged or stolen) that shows they are legal to work. Would you still fine the employer for being fooled by false paperwork?
  23. Better news here than if the same thread was in the filibuster :rolly
  24. This reminds me of a story when this guy left on vacation and asked his brother, who was a little dim witted to watch his cat. A couple days into the vacation the guy called home and asked his brother how the cat was doing. The brother replied the cat dun got run over by the garbage truck and is dead. Devastated the brother yells, asshole don't you know how to break news like that? You should have told me the cat was lost, then maybe stuck on the roof, then maybe tell me she died. Jesus Christ, learn something. Hey, how's mom? Ahhh, she's lost or maybe on the roof . . .
