Defiant Bush admits breaking law
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) If they ran my record they'd see Im a card-carrying Republican, NRA member, military guy and go "next". Which would be a mistake. Just a couple guys that fit the same profile as you. Based on this, YOU should be followed and all your weapons confiscated. They killed many innocent people. By keeping you under observation, how many lives will be saved?

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) WHY DID YOU LOCK THE FESTIVUS THREAD! well, yesterday was probably the best festivus ever. You should start a Post-Festivus Celebratory Thread- Christmas 2005: Where Are You?
How fun. It was like playing hide and seek, only with a river winding through agriculture and city scapes. I really enjoyed this photo.- Christmas 2005: Where Are You?
This morning a friend and I are doing some exploring is a local river that minds its way through the area. Development on one end has obscured the waterway and we are looking to trace the original path as best as possible for a Boy Scout trip. Later we will be attending Christmas Eve Mass, dinner, and for the first time in 17 years, I have no, nada, zip, none Christmas gifts to assemble.- Happy Festivus! December 23rd
In a stunning reversal of Festivus protocol, the celebration ends with the unpinning of the thread- Bush approval rating now upto 50%
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 04:56 AM) Yup. And that's the best you can hope for to get the "power" back. Can't win an election? Impeach the whole executive branch. Always coming back to Clinton and Monica . . .- Bush approval rating now upto 50%
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) If Iraq is stable and a lot of the troops come home, there's not a lot (right now) that's wrong. That can change in about 5 seconds with another act of terror. I'm not sure how much Iraq will help, domestic issues and a good economy will matter more. I think the American public just wants out of Iraq.- Bush approval rating now upto 50%
I think the Presidential approval polls like this are more a reflection on how Americans are thinking about the country than the President. Plus, this is kind of the lull in the two term President. I will make a bold prediction that Bush will surge over the next couple years and will peak at 60-65% at some point. Right now his supporters are still there.- 1st Time in history White Sox & Bears
Do they have a chance? Of course. Are they going to be one of the longer odds teams? That is my guess. I'm dusting off my Bears stuff to jump on the bandwagon- Need some graphics help
QUOTE(DePloderer @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 06:02 AM) I can add "Chicago Dogs " to any of my previous walls and resize to 10x8 if you would like, just let me know which one(s) you would like. Thank you how about this one?- Catch-All Anything Thread
I just got this "Road Runner: Raw" DVD and you would not believe the filthy stuff this bird says to egg on the coyote. Of course in the standard censored version all you ever hear is "beep beep." (Phil Andrews)- Senate rejects drilling in Alaska wildlife refuge
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) Yea, I find that a bit interesting as well. GREEN GREEN GREEN friendly... but it better not effect ME! Unfair comparison. Just like everyone who supports drilling, probably doesn't want to see pipelines and pumps in his backyard, there are better locations for wind and solar plants. Kap, have you been out to west Texas and seen the windmills out on 10? Quite a site, but I wouldn't want to see them on a daily basis out my backyard.- Wal-Mart in the crosshairs
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) Why is that? Because China's "union" is the government, and it was a prerequisite for Walmart to locate in China. Let's also understand that the American concept of Union is not universal. For example, the workers in Mexico's Maquilla Plants are all Unionized. But the employer picks the Union. If the Union becomes a problem, new companies will not select that Union, and they will see their membership fall. What the union facilitates for the employers is keeping wages down. Each plant negotiates with the union and the plants watch as each one negotiates and they help one another.- Wal-Mart in the crosshairs
I missed that. I love it when it is unpaid, and the employer is expected to force people to take unpaid time off. I know I would rather work 6 hours straight and eat afterwards then be at work 6.5 hours and have to eat at work, or at some place really close on a :30 break. BTW, in Mexico, large plants are required to provide free meals for their employees. And a medical care, usually a Doctor on staff, in the plant. Oh, and transportation, usually on company buses. They are so far ahead of us- Tony Dungy's son dies in Florida
I watched as my parents buried my brother, that is not the circle of life and something as a parent I cannot imagine. for the Dungys and any parent who is burying their child.- Need some graphics help
awesome. Thank you- Wal-Mart in the crosshairs
How can you blame the employer for their employees using government programs?? If you don't like programs for working poor, have them eliminated and push for a minimum wage over the poverty line. Do you think these programs are in place just for WalMart employees? They are for working poor and cover not only medical but child care costs as well.- Wal-Mart in the crosshairs
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Well, since employer-provided health coverage has bee the mainstay of the U.S. health insurance system for decades, you'd certainly hope that it should be Walmart's job to give their employees health insurance. Otherwise, they would just be either getting healht coverage from the government and the taxpayers or sitting at home suffering and sometimes nearly dying because they can't afford to see a doctor (much like a member of my own family). Walmart does offer health insurance. I'm not certain how many people here work for employers that *give* insurance. I will bet the percentage is low. Walmart, like most employers, charge a portion of the health insurance fee to the employee. A large number reject the coverage, some out of economic necessity, some because of spousal coverage, and some because of government health care programs that they qualify for. People earning $7.00 per hour ($14,000 annualy) will usually also qualify for some form of gov assisted health care. From the employer side. Insurance coverage for a family of 4 will cost about $800 ~ $1000 per month depending on coverage. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that it's even lower, like $500 per month. For a full time employee, that is about $3.00 per hour in benefit. If you are paying someone $9.00 per hour, well above minimum wage but not much over the poverty line, free health insurance is an almost 25% increase in employee cost to the company. So many companies have the employee pay for part of their coverage. In turn, many employees voluntarily reject the coverage. If you want to stop Walmart, you also have to stop every other employer who hires people for less than about $8~$9 per hour.- Catch-All Anything Thread

There is one local business here Chicago Dogs (great name in South Texas) that I visit weekly. They are opening a new and bigger location and he has a wall to decorate. Another customer brought in some ScRubs stuff. I wanted to print and frame a Soxtalk.com and Chicago Dogs pic for the restaurant. My skills are pretty crappy, but if someone could come up with something, their artwork will be framed and displayed. I was hoping for Chicago Dogs almost like a screen name would be displayed and of course soxtalk.com, included so maybe I could find the other two Sox fans in South Texas. I was thinking around an 8x10 so you have some space to work with.- Holiday Wishes Thread
