QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) If this was 1995, there would have been impeachment proceedings pending right now. I felt they were wrong then, and I would feel the same party politics stain on these. I also feel Californias law to reverse any election at any time with enough signatures is wasteful. I believe once someone is in office, it should take more than what I've seen from Bush or Clinton to drive them out.

I'm not allowing the (I), (L), ©, (S), and any of the rest of the alphabet soup. It's a (D) and ® world. Pick one.

I'm thinking of some ways to redecorate the new forum and I thought pinned threads for the left and right to celebrate or lick wounds together, without the "other" side, would be nice.

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) That was Tex spamming! Hell, if Jas is going to name the forum for it, I figured we should know what the hell one is. All I know I learned on West Wing

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) 2008? I seriously doubt he'll be up for parole that soon. No silly, that would be Slammer Time 2008

My take on media bias. If YAS and I both sat down to watch a perfectly nuetral newscast. He will think it has a liberal bias and I will think it has a conservative bias, and we will both be right. We will both pick a couple stories that were written in a manner that would seem to favor one side. I'm not certain, and no one has really tried to explain, what an unbaised newspaper looks like. As soon as a reporter sits down to write a story with say 25 "facts" he has to put them in order. Bingo bias. Doesn't matter left, right, or middle. So of one article can't be unbiased, how about if that newspaper for the day is balanced? Year? How about if the WSJ and the NYT both have widespread circulation, do they unbias each other?

The administration should put together an enemies list and check it twice each day . . . BTW, IMNSHO, Bush should not be impeached for this, so far. I think we are far better off with him in office, than dragging through the hearings.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Since our search engines are still (for whatever reason) disabled, I was hoping someone could assist me with this issue. Earlier this evening, I bid on a DVD set intended as a Christmas present for my older brother. This relatively unknown TV series was available in a DVD set featuring 72 episodes. The price? 29.99. I placed a bid of $30.00 and assumed no issues would present themselves. And why should I have? DVD set was guaranteed to arrive within several days, there were 4 items of the same product available, and only two (including my own) were displaying bids. The aforementioned bid dated back several days. As soon as 20 minutes before the auction ended, the status of the four items didn't change. Two items were bid on, two weren't.. I left my house assuming a victorious bid. Return home half an hour ago, absolutely stunned to discover I had been outbid 5 f***ING SECONDS before the auction was terminated. Immediately following this revelation, I sent the asshole a scatching message telling him there were two other items available for him, and he ruined my Christmas with his bulls***. Yes, a bit dramatic; but it completely derails my Christmas. Now I have to battle the crowds, horrendous Chicago weather, and literally search for a present. What this event taught me is never to assume anything relating to EBAY. You can't expect to bid on an item, no matter how obscure, and not expect some mo-mo to ruin your day. Now, I will become one of these people. If anyone is aware of the link to an automated EBAY list, I'd appreciate it. You do realize even with a sniper program, if someone bid $31 you would lose? You actually lost because someone bid more than you, not closer to the deadline. Shill bidding is one of the few areas that eBay watches closely, and acts quickly to stop. They watch for losing bidders matching up to a specific seller.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 07:12 AM) Trust me, if I even TRIED to build anything myself, one of three things would explode: My head The thing I'm trying to build or My house I am all thumbs, and even my thumbs are all thumbs! Plug and play is the only way!! It really isn't that hard, and I recommend anyone who uses computers regularly to build at least one. I'm a big fan of Newegg for components. My son and I build his last year, and he now knows more about hardware than almost any of his classmates.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) Once again APU is whining about his rights being violated. The government doesn't give a flying f*** about Joe Sixpack, Would they have gave a flying f*** about Ted Kaczynski, Terry Nichols, Tim McVeigh, etc.? Or are they Joe Soxpacks? Once the government decides who is guilty until proven innocent, then we open up on nasty can of civil right violations. Y'all can give back rights and freedoms, I'd like to keep mine.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) This was disgusting to wake up to. And I am very disgusted with the Dems right now because they could have made a stand and voted down the bill as long as it had the ANWR provision in it. A revised version of the bill without ANWR in it then would have been brought to a vote and could have been passed. Then they would have been accused of flip flopping and not supporting the Troops.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Rex, look at the damn article that started this thread. It MADE A POINT to talk about the amputee part. If she's so damn good as a candidate, why even talk about it? Ohhhh, because they have to so that she's more appealing. Come on. It's too obvious. And I'm not trying to mock her. I appreciate what she's sacrificed. But she was 100% recruited on appeal, not her beliefs. Kap believes what he reads in the biased newspapers? That's a switch. The GOP only picked Bush because he was religious. Let's find some articles that lead with that. Nope, The GOP only picked Bush because his Daddy was President, let's find an article about that. I can't believe y'all think the Dem party, or the GOP for that matter, would think that just finding a vet without legs will win an election. Each seat is important, too important not to try and find the ideal candidate to win the election. If she can't articulate, can't debate, can't demonstrate the skills to win, they aren't going to spend the money to try and get her elected. And a big part of both parties natinal and local organizations is to seek out and recruit qualified candidates. Do you really think both parties just wait and see who raises their hand to run? Besides fundraising it's the most important fuction the parties do.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) As long as you are not pretending that this is a Republican-only trick, I agree with you. Both sides do this, it sucks, and is the best reason ever for a line item veto for the President. This is a bipartisan technique. Part of the problem is one side doesn't trust the other. So a sneaky you vote for this and I'll vote for that becomes a I'll just tack it all together and we'll vote on it at once. Ugly, b.s. and the voters go along with it. When we here that so and so didn't vote for something, it may be because of something tacked on. We all should find out "the rest, of the story".

Why did the GOP attach the Artic Drilling, hurricane relief, and bird flu, to a defense bill? Because anyone who voted no, we be accused of not supporting the Troops and flip flopping. There outta be a law that eliminates adding unrelated items to a bill.

hey, hockey news, I think we allow hockey news here, right next to the NASCAR in the pseudo sports forum

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) In the right hands, yes. But I have heard some bad bagpipe playing in my time, and it is not pretty. The first time I heard he as going to play, I cringed, expecting the worse. The range of sounds a good bag piper can produce is actually rather impressive.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) So he's just being a f***ing asshole? That's it? No other reason? Conversation's over, I think, because that is what this always turns into. (paraphrasing)... George Bush did this because he's a f***ing prick asshole who takes a f***ing s*** with the US Constitution. No other motive, just wants to piss and s*** on it. (end) As I said, I'm not sure what to think yet, because truthfully I haven't read up on it (been away a lot)... on the surface, it's BS... but I'm really disheartened by the rhetoric that says he did this for NOTHING but to be a dick against the US Constitution. You are usually the first one to list f***ing asshole and Bush in the same sentence. :headshake
