Rowand baserunning
I like the fact he had a reason for the play. He was definte in his explainatin, not stammering like he knew he was wrong and trying to build a case. It was also a fun sequence of Rowand, AJ, and Crede.

Keith Olbermann's blog on msnbc.com
You pitch enough games and you will have enough results that any story could be written.

Memo to the White Sox:
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) When was the last time there was a BIG game at Wrigley Field? The future World Series champs played a few games there this summer, dumb ass. It's called inter league play.

Memo to the White Sox:
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) Unless you're at Wrigley Field. I've never heard it done on any broadcast for the Cubs. Excuse me for asking, but why the hell are you even listening? BUSTED! CUB FAN JUMPING ON BANDWAGON! I kid because I care

Greenspan successor to be named shortly
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) I heard Bush is going to name the guy who does his taxes at the corner H&R Block in Crawford, TX. to the post. "He's a good man and I know what he thinks when it comes to money stuff" Anyone know if this guy is anti-abortion?

Sorry Harold Reynolds
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) I may be alone in this, but I actually like Reynolds. Of all the idiots on ESPN I think he's the best and usually knows what he's talking about. Kruk is a joke. As for McCarver and Buck....morons. I think the are entertaining. When Kruk and Reynolds crack themselves up and Gammons sits there like a school headmaster with stick up his ass, I laugh. I thought it was the kiss of death when they had the Sox winning everything. As for McCarver and Buck, trying to call a game and be unbiased has to be the hardest thing in the world. If they do their job perfectly, Astros and Sox fans should both hate them and call them biased and the rest of the country will say, nice game, great broadcast.

Damn Jeff Brantley isn't even TRYING
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Im fairly sure that Jeff Brantley and Barry Melrose are the same mullet-ed robot that ESPN uses for different shows. They just change his program from hillbilly(baseball) to canuck(hockey), and then take the wig off and he transforms into Sean Salisbury. LMAO

Did anyone see this?
QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Did we not ban Mariotti articles from Soxtalk? No WSI banned Mariotti articles, attendance threads, negative posts, and anything else George doesn't like. Silly soxtalk, we think we can discuss these things without having to ban anyone. Crazy ass kids over here.

Memo to the White Sox:
QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) and we could also have michael moore and george soros sing the 7th inning stretch too! its not like you are a flaming liberal or anything...just a guess. I think forced patriotism is a bad idea. It is a staple of communist regimes. But then running up huge debts, discrediting the media, taking away a free judiciary, are all communist game plans that conservatives are in love with. And I guess you are a conservative.

Neither did Mariotti

A Miracle
QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Hope we win Tuesday Well I hope we win Tuesday and Wednesday, then I hope they make us come back and "prove it", and we kick their ass on Thursday. But hey, that's just me. Y'all can disagree if you like.

The no villian World Series
QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) Who would be the villain(s)? Why, the umpires, of course. At least, they're the usual suspects promoted by the media. I think he brings up a good point. I can't believe I missed the obvious target.

They're Like the Olsen Twins
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) It's ironic .. the whole white supremacy thing these days .. there's only one way for any ethnicity to become supreme: big families. Yet's it's pretty clear statistically that caucasians are well behind Hispanics, Blacks, & Asians in that department. They have by their own design opted to raise smaller families so that they can enjoy a higher lifestyle. Singing about Hess & Hitler is not going to help bring about big families. Their best bet is to try religion. I guess that explains why the Catholic Church is against birth control.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Mock away, but you missed one heck of a talk on sensory habituation and sensitization. I think that this is going to be a very good week. Sorry, not mocking, just think a huge clap would be a bit overstated for a University setting. BTW, How will this help you later when your husband comes home and you are

Nominate Mike Greenberg for Just Shut Up Award
QUOTE(Goldmember @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) iguchi wasn't safe. he looked out to me. Too bad it wasn't an Astros runner or we would have seen 73 replays, from 9 angles, and super slo mo close ups.

Rowand baserunning
The announcers made a big deal about it, he explained with the height of the ball, thought it would either be caught or a home run so he planned on tagging up. The announcer felt with the body position of Burk in left, Rowand should have been on second and possibly scored when the ball caromed off the wall.

Jenks
QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Can you imagine what one of the biggest discussions in Phil Garner's office is going to be? Despite his public vote of confidence. They have even less of an option. BTW, the one Astros game I was at, Lidge blew a save. They went on to win with a walk off home run, but it was another screw Clemens performance. Later, I heard Lidge was suffering from the flu, but they didn't think they had a better option.

Jenks
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) I'd think, given how he has managed all year, that this isn't even a discussion and Jenks will be out there next time there's a save opp. You mean 1/2 year. I don't think AA pitching can really factor in at this point. I agree he's the guy to have out there, but he's the weak link at this point. At the minimum, he's a question mark.

Memo to the White Sox:
I thought this was a mlb mandate, not a White Sox or individual team thing. I know they do it in Houston and Dallas as well. I'd like to see them switch back and forth between the National Anthem and a couple other patriotic songs at the begining of the game.

Clemens Situation
QUOTE(Wedge @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) My initial fear is that Clemens, the Astros, and the media would make this into a "bloody sock" type of thing (the blood was katsup, by the way). Even if it is, I don't think Roger will be able to capture Schilling's magic. Clem is a competitor and if he didn't go in Game 5, he's hurt really bad. I don't think he was rocked enough to pull this kind of stuff. But who knows. At this rate, it will be a non issue when Thursday's game isn't necessary.

Jenks
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) You guys are unreal. The kid has one bad game and there's already "well, maybe he shouldn't be the closer" talk. Get a job at ESPN if you're into knee-jerk reactions. I'm sure Bobby's going to be just fine next time out. It isn't one bad outing. He is 6/8 in save opportunities and 1-1 W-L record. .750 save percentage isn't exactly lights out. I think there are good reasons to be wary of a kid who was just called up from AA a few months ago, and is now closing in the World Series. Especially one with checkered history of not always having his head screwed on straight. I'd be very surprised if this isn't the biggest discussion in Ozzie's office today and tomorrow,

I'm getting misty thinking about how much fun those style boards are.
