  1. Wasn't there a weather related postponed game? If it was reversed, I'd sure as hell be wondering why they didn't flip flop the games.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 05:11 AM) They say this "worse drought in 40 years" is caused by global warming. Maybe so. What caused the one 40 years ago? Silly scientists, of course we all know there is only one cause of a drought. No rain.
  3. You actually have to win something to get some respect from these guys. That crazy. Our post season appearances and success is very similar to the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Cards, Braves, etc.
  4. I wonder if his land started on fire and it spread to neighboring properties if that would have been better.
  5. Some time ago the parties decide to divide up the issues like a deck of cards and move to the extremes. It was a sad day in our history and we didn't have a vote. The worse moment was when the GOP, lead by Ronald Reagan, figured out they could promise us riches without any of us actually paying for them. More services, more benefits, and LESS TAXES. Ordinarily this should have been countered by the Dems fighting the program. But they too lined up at the trough and started pigging out. No politician will stand up and say let's balance the budget and get out of debt. Cutting taxes is the way to getting re-elected. We actually believe we can fight a war while cutting income. We watched as the Soviet Union collapsed, not from military might, but from debt. As a country we have not learned that lesson. We have elected officials and given them a VISA with a couple trillion dollar line of credit. We are borrowing money to fight a war that our debtors did not want to fight. We won't join you in combat but here's a couple hundred billion dollar loan to go fight it.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) ? The PM counter is now at negative?? Weird. I logged out and then back in.
  7. My message counter is at -2??
  8. Looking at the 3 game vs. 4. Whichever is the day game should go to Freddy "Lights Out" Garcia. I have no problem adjusting between the two to get Freddy a day game if possible.
  9. Garland pitching 4th in a 5 game series would be more of an issue that 4th in a 7 game series. If the rotation made sense in the first round, it also makes sense in a second. Get your best guys out there first.
  10. I see no reason to not grab as many people and convert them and f*** THE CUBS. But if y'all want to show the Cubs some respect and not go and steal their casual fans, I guess y'all like the Cubs more than I do. That's the battle. Taking casual Cub fans and making them casual Sox fans. I'm certain that Brooks will use that as a marketing program for next season. If we want to remain the #2 team in the market, don't take advantage of a winning season. If we want to continue the 2nd best media treatment, don't trade on a winning season. If we don't want the salary dollars that comes with drawing 3,000,000 fans, don't encourage bandwagon jumpers. I find a new restaurant that I like, I encourage friends to go there. I see a good movie, I encourage friends to see it. Same thing with every other area of entertainment, etc.
  11. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) And if the series never gets to a game 7? You only throw your ACE one time in the series. That doesn't make any sense. I say play to win this thing as quickly as possible, and don't bank on game 7's. Plan for that and you will lose with bullets still in your gun. I knew if I read deep enough someone would have stated this. Bottom line Garland deserves a one start slot, not a two. Go back to Contreras, Buerhle, Garcia, Garland. It was the best shot in the first round and it is the best shot in this round. That is why you finish off teams early and hope the other series goes long.
  12. This is exactly why I favored ElDuque over Brandon, as much as I like BMAC, 6th inning at Fenway is no place for a rookie.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) That's a pretty sad list... Yep, and I am damn proud of that!
  14. LOL, there is a difference between predicting a winner and being on a bandwagon. These guys aren't fans. With the White Sox up 2 games, they are predicting winners, not jumping on bandwagons.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) What on earth are you talking about? For someone who accuses me of arguing without reason, you sure are hypocritical. Okay fine, he'll be a good third baseman for some team then. Does that make you feel better there, bud? I was just pointing out you annointed him a 2nd baseman because that's how your team used him. I at least know where the man has played during his career, something you seemingly lacked.
  16. We are so use to Hawk and being a homer, that anything approaching unbiased seems terribly against us.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Its not that I'm not biting, I am listening to everything youre saying with open ears and while he obviously won't repeat the season he had this year, and I'd be foolish to think that, I think he'll be a very solid second baseman for whoever signs him. Again, why at second? Because Boston had him play second? Look at his career numbers, he has also played a lot of 1st and 3rd the past 7 years. 1998 was his last season with an overwhelming majority at 2nd base. But if Boston calls him a second baseman that must be what he is. Because Boston is always right. You can't wake someone who is pretending to be asleep. I just don't understand how someone can sleep and type.
  18. He's a man without a position. Perhaps the best utility man in the game today. I'm trying to think of a guy who you can pencil in anywhere on the infield and feel confident he'll cover his position. The offense he has produced all this season is a great bonus. He's also a nice man. But he's not the starter at any position on most mlb teams. The Sox have a rookie who is outplaying Graffy.
  19. I can't figure all the man love for Graffy. He's on Bawlston because of an emergency. He's not the guy Bawlston will want long term. He'll pack up his 2 bedroom efficiency and head on down the road to another town, and Bawlston fans will have another man-love crush on whomever is playing second. Graffy has been an outstanding utility man. He routinely plays every infield position. Problem is he isn't great at any one of those positions. After almost 10 mlb seasons, for 51 games or so, he batted .319 for Bawlston. And some people will ignore the hundreds of games before when he was a career .268 kind of guy and call him a great hitter. 9 years, 700 games as a .268 vs. 51 games at .319 Can I hear a big Duh! He's not that good.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) He's made two errors, if im remembering correctly including tonight, since joining the Red Sox. This quote has been disected, explained, etc. in every which way. Seriously, get some new material. Seriously, why not post there instead of trolling here? There are Red Sox message boards? :headshake
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Ahh, I misread. Thanks for the clarification. I stand by the last part of my statement, though, if one of the others indicted now has immunity to testify against DeLay, THE HAMMER is going DOWN. (waits for Tex) This is the liberal media and desperate Dems trying to bring him down. He is far too powerful. I am certain, by the time this is over, that Mark Furman will look like a fair guy compared to the prosecutor. My money is on the Hammer. He's a modern day John Wayne. Hammer '08
  22. I always liked Graffy, but today's game really moved him up a few more notches in my book. When the Red Sox cut him, and they will, I'd love to see him back in Chicago on the Cubs
  23. I just got back from the Astros game Tough, tough call. Braves v Astros in person or Sox on tv. I guess I'm here for the exciting part.
  24. He's no Graffanino It would be a total disgrace to have Frank play in any other uniform.
  25. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Good to know we don't have to worry about that happening, eh Pallie?!? I've lived my life by something that was said at my High School graduation. I wasn't paying real close attention, but when I heard the speaker quote Winston Churchill, "Never, never, never grow up", I took that to heart.
