Didn't Timo pitch in Little League? You know, just sayin' Depending on the state of the bullpen entering that game, I'd be inclined to use the pen before sending in starters on short rest. We have had one of the AL's better pens.

Nice pics. It looks like you arrived around noon for the game
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) Maybe you'd stoop to that level. The thought wouldn't even enter most Sox fans minds. I would be holding my breath, praying that some idiot doesn't give Sox fans another embarrasing moment.
  4. He's just a bandwagon jumper. He wasn't a fan before, now all of a sudden he's writing nice things about the Sox? You are right, the loser tag was wrong. Although didn't he lose his wife to Mark Grace?
  5. Anyone who agrees with Sox fans is an instant fan favorite, anyone whose opinion disagrees is an idiot. It is so easy to sucker in Sox fans. We go nuts as soon as anyone says something nice about the Sox and write 50 post threads if it's negative. My opinion of Sandburg hasn't changed by his obvious bandwagon jumping. Just another loser pandering to Sox fans. The only reason he said this was to jump on the Sox popularity.
  6. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Do they include Jews as a minority in Texas? If they do, I'm sorry, fellas. There is one Synagog for an area with over 250,000 people by me. One!
  7. I wanted to be a foreign correspondent and cover wars in far off lands. Then I was talking to a foreign correspondent, and he mentioned that the most disappointing thing he wasn't prepared for, was the lack of female companionship. He had gotten laid three times in 1980 and that was an average year. Now three times a year isn't bad for a Priest from a small parish, but . . . Switched majors the next day.
  8. I want to know if this was a bye week or bi week. With National Coming Out Day I thought maybe it wasn't just a hetero party.
  9. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) I blame the lawyers & insurance companies. If they continued to put out the fire and a firefighter got hurt, maybe the insurance company won't pay because they were fighting a fire they weren't paid to fight. Tex, if you yourself helped get this guy out of his trailer, and in the process injured him, your butt would be sued faster than you can say 'tort reform'. Where does giving of yourself stop because it becomes a burden unto yourself? There was a poll question on the radio asking if people were suffering from 'catastrophy burnout'. I say a resounding hell yes! I am tired of goving. I give, almost until it hurts. But I have a family to take care of, and 4 employees with families to also worry about. Have I sacraficed? Yes. But I don't know how much more I can take. For all youknow, these firefighters, who probably get paid per call, were not gonna get paid for that visit. And if they got hurt during an unauthorized visit, you could probably kiss disability goodbye as well. Why are people obligated to help those that fail to help themselves? It is very easy to justify walking by anyone in trouble. And that is the America we are building for our grandchildren. You are on your own. Don't help anyone unless you get something in return. Find any excuse not to get involved. You are not obligated. You can legally watch someone die, so watching their home burn isn't a legal issue.
  10. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) The guy who did this site, was it on a Commadore 64? VIC20 with a cassette tape for a "drive". misty watered colored memories . . .
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) It looks like f***! s***! they may have actually found COCK! BASTARD! ASS! the gene that is linked to f***! f***ING f***! some disease. . . http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory?id=1210252 Do your students know their Professor uses such language?
  12. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) t.s. pay your bill. One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7 An AMerica where every person is only for themselves is not the society I want to leave to my grandchildren.
  13. Actually he didn't have to redeem himself to Sox fans, we already love the guy . . .
  14. Poor guy is scheduled to be in left field tomorrow night, checking the fair pole I'd get sick if I was him. Close to the fans?
  15. The Red Sox battled the evil empire every season. It is a better national story than the White Sox. There are way more Red Sox fans around the country than White Sox fans. That happens when you make a playoff appearance more than 4 times in 45 years.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) I was thinking this to. Boras is a "Chicago legend" in BorASS's eyes. When BorASS asks for $8mil per year in December. Joe will have to be getting measured for his Tampa Bay uniform. Tack a world series and any sort of decent performance and 8 mil won't be the asking price. It may be the ending price.
  17. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Quid pro quo is fine and good, but there's no obligation to help someone who only looks out for his own quid. There was a day in America where we helped out of altruism. We didn't look for something in return, we didn't look to see if they had contributed in the past. We helped because it was the right thing to do. It was one of the things that seperated us from other societies. We gave of ourselves, we didn't keep track of credits and debits.
  18. I was wearing my 1919 road gray cap by the 9th inning. I had one by one tossed them aside, trying to find the correct rally cap. I forgot about the significance until Cheat's shop-job. What sucks is after we attract all the casual Cub fans to Cominsky, they'll take up collections to get poor Joe some shoes

It's killing me not being able to get to the playoff games. I'm pulling for Houston, where I can attend a couple games. Thanks for the post
  20. I'm trying to decide between a Graffy or a Paul?
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Wait, Kap is white? I wonder if his mom knows? I say this after watching him dance
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Damn you, that put a tear in my eye.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Well I know that, but the question was "Why". I was looking for a reason, such as with the infield fly being like it is to prevent the set-up for the double play and tricking the batter and runners. That's all. If you look at the fielding stats, the catcher is credited with the PO on strike outs. Konerko leads the team, but AJ is tied with Gooch for second. Sometimes, when explaining the rule, that helps.

This goes to show that even very good posters sometimes are at odds with each other. Far easier to resolve when it's good vs. evil.
