LOL, there is a difference between predicting a winner and being on a bandwagon. These guys aren't fans. With the White Sox up 2 games, they are predicting winners, not jumping on bandwagons.

Graffy, Man of the Year!
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) What on earth are you talking about? For someone who accuses me of arguing without reason, you sure are hypocritical. Okay fine, he'll be a good third baseman for some team then. Does that make you feel better there, bud? I was just pointing out you annointed him a 2nd baseman because that's how your team used him. I at least know where the man has played during his career, something you seemingly lacked.

Chris Berman?
We are so use to Hawk and being a homer, that anything approaching unbiased seems terribly against us.

Graffy, Man of the Year!
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Its not that I'm not biting, I am listening to everything youre saying with open ears and while he obviously won't repeat the season he had this year, and I'd be foolish to think that, I think he'll be a very solid second baseman for whoever signs him. Again, why at second? Because Boston had him play second? Look at his career numbers, he has also played a lot of 1st and 3rd the past 7 years. 1998 was his last season with an overwhelming majority at 2nd base. But if Boston calls him a second baseman that must be what he is. Because Boston is always right. You can't wake someone who is pretending to be asleep. I just don't understand how someone can sleep and type.

Graffy, Man of the Year!
He's a man without a position. Perhaps the best utility man in the game today. I'm trying to think of a guy who you can pencil in anywhere on the infield and feel confident he'll cover his position. The offense he has produced all this season is a great bonus. He's also a nice man. But he's not the starter at any position on most mlb teams. The Sox have a rookie who is outplaying Graffy.

Graffy, Man of the Year!
I can't figure all the man love for Graffy. He's on Bawlston because of an emergency. He's not the guy Bawlston will want long term. He'll pack up his 2 bedroom efficiency and head on down the road to another town, and Bawlston fans will have another man-love crush on whomever is playing second. Graffy has been an outstanding utility man. He routinely plays every infield position. Problem is he isn't great at any one of those positions. After almost 10 mlb seasons, for 51 games or so, he batted .319 for Bawlston. And some people will ignore the hundreds of games before when he was a career .268 kind of guy and call him a great hitter. 9 years, 700 games as a .268 vs. 51 games at .319 Can I hear a big Duh! He's not that good.

Graffy, Man of the Year!
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) He's made two errors, if im remembering correctly including tonight, since joining the Red Sox. This quote has been disected, explained, etc. in every which way. Seriously, get some new material. Seriously, why not post there instead of trolling here? There are Red Sox message boards? :headshake

DeLay Indicted for conspiracy!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Ahh, I misread. Thanks for the clarification. I stand by the last part of my statement, though, if one of the others indicted now has immunity to testify against DeLay, THE HAMMER is going DOWN. (waits for Tex) This is the liberal media and desperate Dems trying to bring him down. He is far too powerful. I am certain, by the time this is over, that Mark Furman will look like a fair guy compared to the prosecutor. My money is on the Hammer. He's a modern day John Wayne. Hammer '08

Graffy, Man of the Year!
I always liked Graffy, but today's game really moved him up a few more notches in my book. When the Red Sox cut him, and they will, I'd love to see him back in Chicago on the Cubs

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 2
I just got back from the Astros game Tough, tough call. Braves v Astros in person or Sox on tv. I guess I'm here for the exciting part.

Thomas feels love from fans, Guillen

Look what the cat dragged in
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Good to know we don't have to worry about that happening, eh Pallie?!? I've lived my life by something that was said at my High School graduation. I wasn't paying real close attention, but when I heard the speaker quote Winston Churchill, "Never, never, never grow up", I took that to heart.

Hope you guys win..
Thanks wiredawg! I always pull for the Al Central team, then the AL. I wouldn't hang my head too much, I's be counting the days until next season. I'm guessing everyone picking the Tribe.

Guess who's throwing out the first pitch?
Maybe Graffy could then bat for him*. *If you don't get the reference, you aren't reading enough threads.

It's like Christmas Eve!
It will hit me sometime tomorrow afternoon. Especialy when looking at the scoreboards and seeing only a couple games.

Look what the cat dragged in
He dropped by for 10 minutes and made like the wind. I guess that's what happens when you get a life

Congrats from the Cubs
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) The ballclubs and personnel are both respective enough of each other. But I don't expect or even want Cubs fans pulling for the Sox in the playoffs, because I certainly didn't wish anything but failure on them in '03. I was hoping for success for the Cubs. In my dream scenario they would be 1 out away from the WS and have it all collapse. This was close enough.

Illiterate man starts library
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Wow. I saw the thread title and was all set to come on with some snarky comment or another, and then reading the article just blew me away. Great story. Hopefully it attracts the attention of some well-heeled Brazilians that can give them some underwriting. Ditto. I have a hard time typing snarky comments with tears in my eyes. I complain about the McAllen Public Library, we are so spoiled in the US. And to Benny Franklin for coming up with the idea for public libraries in the US.

Newhan/fan incident last night
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Only Red Sox and Yankee fans are crazy. Finally something we all can agree on.

Best CHicago Rock Staion?
I grew up with WLUP. I even am wearing a WLUP T-shirt in my Junior class picture. From Brandmeier, Dahl, Sky "let's get jaked and blow chunks" Daniels, Bob Stroud, The Loop Rocks Family Album, etc. It's what almost 30 years of rocking?

Red Sox 25-man Roster
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) I don't mind it. Apparently my laughter struck a nerve. Let me retract my statement in the hope of making nice: tony graffanino is one of the finest hitters in the league and would bat wherever he liked on the white sox. And he's a much slicker fielder than Iguchi, Uribe or Crede. I realize it must be hard being a fan of two teams in the same league. I don't know what that's like. Sorry if I made you mad. If it's any consolation, at least you'll be feeling good no matter who wins, right? So you've got that going for you.

New York Style Pizza
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) come to Austin and I'll buy you a Mangia Chicago style deep dish pizza. Not like Malnati's or Uno's, but pretty damn good for Texas. Next time I'm up nort' I'll take you up on that. It's finding the ingredients that is the problem. The sausage usually is so bland, no fennel, no seasoning. The tomato sauce is closer to soup. There is a great hot dog place near me. He has buns and Viennas sent down from Chicago. His beef is great, but the buns aren't very good, he knows it, but can't find a supplier.

Are you playing hookie tomorrow
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) It's the hamsters that keep us together. I've only heard of this one time in history And you know how they turned out

Are you playing hookie tomorrow
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Scary thing is that he is a Packers fan as well. It's a good thing he works third shift - that way I don't have to deal with him lol. Whaaaaaaaat? :headshake My God, next thing you will say is he's Protestant.
