  1. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Yep. That's exactly it in a nutshell. There are a lot of good members over there but I know there are here too. Thanks for the welcome. What you may also find is they change screen names when they get here and vice versa. What I always worry about is our new members get in a post with someone we've known to ignore, or we appreciate in spite of their flaws, and the new person stops visiting. In our desire to be open, we can sometimes chase away some people.
  2. QUOTE(afacio @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Gee, couldn't they just paddle them with their hockey sticks and be done with it? I like how you think, welcome to SL&P (Sex Lies & Politics)
  3. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) This is a fine opportunity for my first post. As a long time member of WSI, I've come to disagree with some of the policies over there. The mood and the atmosphere over there are getting downright scary. I checked out this site and joined approx. 2 months ago. I've lurked ever since. About a month ago, I was suspended for a ridiculous disagreement with PHG over the usage of the phrase "big game". OK, whatever. Since then, I've continued to watch member after member get banned, and I've grown weary of it. I like what I've seen here and while at this time I'm not completely abandoning WSI, it's bound to happen. In the meantime....here I am. We have a lot of members with "dual" and "tri" memberships. We also allow people to actually mention the other boards by name. In fact we love comparisons, and don't hide. No personal attacks, no nudity, and you're fine. BTW, the toughest part is leaving behind other posters whose opinions and comments you enjoy. Eventually, you find most of those same personalities everywhere. Welcome aboard.
  4. QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) There is a wider variety of opinions that are accepted here. The mods are a bit pompous & sensative at the other site. Overall it just shows that there are plenty of Sox fans out there so congrats Soxtalk on the sucsess. Yes we do have the finest mods and admins on the planet, Jason sprung for the deluxe mod package. We are taller and better looking than standard mods. We are also wittier, funnier, able to wield sarcasm with ease, bringing' the homeless blankets and dinner , we're regular Nobel Peace Prize Winners. Inside our heads may lay all the answers For curing' diseases from baldness to cancer, salt of the earth and real good dancers. As is easy to see, no pompous and sensitive mods here. BTW, if anyone doesn't agree, we're taking *** **** names and will ****ing ban you for 2 months.
  5. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Im concerned that we scored 2 or less 42 times!!! [temp thread jack] Clemens has started 8 games in which Houston scored 0 runs. During those games, his ERA is 0.7 [/back to thread]

    LOL But why is it everytime a white person is in a argument with a black person you hear a variation on "my best friend is black"?

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Something else I read that was interesting was the effect that the hurricane was having on many nonprofit organizations that depend on donations for their exsistance. I guess many of them are suffering through huge drop offs in their funding because people are giving to the Hurricane relief funds. Groups like people in ministry, local food pantries, and churches are really suffering through monetary shortages right now. Here's some irony, my local Red Cross office is taking a pounding, first from tsunami relief, now from Katrina, all that money goes to national and then towards NO.

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) http://www.joesherlock.com/Eight-Americas.html Geat find, now pass the tofu . . .
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Eh, she's a Twins' fan. But all of my friends are cool. I don't associate with unworthy people. Invite her to SL&P, and tell her to stay away from Pale Hose

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Bush takes responsibility for governmental failures Has that become a meaningless, hollow gesture in this world? People say the words, but there are no real repercussions. Not just politicians but people at work, etc.
  11. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) E-mailed it to a friend, and though her reply was worth posting: SoxyFriend: Um yeah. Interesting. Wow, could we emphasize stereotypes anymore? I think that the two should be combined. Everytime a footballer is spotted wearing Jimmy Choo shoes, you get 7 points. Gosh, I can't wait until I come up with a game that distracts people from the reality of their middle class American lives. Of course, what could I invent that would top religion? ChiSoxy get 10 points for having a really cool friend who should be posting here.
  12. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) What's the Sox magic number? 1917
  13. If you had offered both it may have been a runnaway. I didn't even know either one was coming back. Another tough poll would be which one would I most like to retire.
  14. I never think it's fair to after the fact pick who should have been drafted. It happens all the time that teams pass on people they should have taken. This happens less to the great GMs and a lot to the crappy GMs. And that's all sports. KW has had a couple stinkers, but he also bought E-LO cheap and sold him high. AJ, Gooch, etc. all have been excellent low dollar acquisitions. That makes up for the name goof a few years back.
  15. There are a whole lot more. I believe in modern times this is known as the WSI Code of Conduct as written BY George.

    QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:34 AM) Or if you have around 17,064 or more posts on a message board. We theadjacked a thread involving a Beatle member. I think we could be suspended. This has to be against the rules.

    Where there any alternatives to the floodgate system as proposed? There always seems to be another side that makes sense. I have a proposal, let's build a replica of the Great Wall of China all around the city to protect it from looting and floods. Sept 1 2065 If y'all had listened to me back in 2005 and built the Great Wall, none of this would have happened, but nooooooo, you said it was bad for the environment.

    QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Ahh, thanks for clearing it up. See, the deal is that I haven't visited the SL&P forum until this year (and I normally steer very clear of any politics talk). Anyway, I am happy to realize that not only are Sox fans intelligent, but are rather entertaining, too SFF Stop in any time. BTW, green = sarcasm, some people forget.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) I guess this would be one case where Hamarobi's code will actually take place. Is it not Hammurabi's code? And IIRC each one ends in he shall be put to death. Either the accused or the accuser. Loser pays. BTW, does my warning level go up again for overzealous grammar policing wink.gif?

    QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) I just figured since I'd never seen SFF here before I should clear that up. We joined the same day. Ahem, only I've been a little more active

    QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) You realize that post should be in green right? CC is the hardest core republican on the site. . . Gee, I thought he finally saw the light
  23. That is a pretty s***ty track record.

    QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) This is where, in the new spirit of Soxtalk, I just take a deep breath and quietly back out of this thread... BTW, 349 posts in two years? That's a good hour for southsider
