  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Tex, learn to grab the exit rows on the right side of the plane. 3 seats with awesome legroom, than on the left there is an exit row where one of the seats has no seat in front of it. Best spots on the plane, imo. Yep, those are my next favorite. http://www.snopes.com/travel/airline/announce.asp I think some attendants have read and used these. I have heard the adults acting like kids comment and the Capt Kangaroo

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Maybe there should be an umbrella organization called Scouts of America? Then there can be the BSA the GS and then the Scouts of America which will be co-ed? BTW, I am absolutely sick of the political correctness of this country. I have no problem with girls as a scout, but if there is going to be a separation, then keep the separation. If there's no other choice, then fine, like a girl on the boys wrestling team. The folks at GSUSA are making too much money to ever merge. Those cookies are an amazing fundraising deal. BTW, if anyone would like to order some Boy Scout popcorn, I can set you up.
  4. Out of necessity a few years ago, I started flying SW, They received about 20% of my flights and caused me about 2% of my flying grief. The attitude of their employees is heads and shoulders above Continental and AA, my other two choices. Tip on SW. My favorite seat is row 2, window. I never, ever, want a window seat on a regular airplane, except for that one. The first row has two seats facing backwards, row two is three seats facing forward. There is a nice ledge that the window seat occupant can stretch out and rest.

One of factors that has more young women looking at BSA programs is the outdoor choices. This past year my Scouts have rock climbed, rappelled, motor boated, water skiing, wilderness backpacking, deep sea fishing, shotgun, rifle, archery, been to an Astros game (with Clemens pitching), and will be camping on a barrier island next month. We are fairly typical in our trips. Most Girl Scouts just don't do much of that. With most High Schools eliminating outdoor clubs and the like, BSA offers a very solid High School ~ College program.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) I actually quoted the first part of this line in my music perception class: This is a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why. Oh, it's nice, what is it called? I call it, "Lick my Love Pump." I'm influenced by Mozart and Bach. This is a Mach piece.

wireless is cool until you need to trouble shoot a small network. Whenever I travel and link up to a hotel system, getting everything back to normal whe I get home is sometimes a pain in the arse.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) How sad is it that the most controversial board that we have on here, is a much happier place to be than anywhere else on here? It is sad when sex, lies, and politics is an escape from the pain that is sports. Since my previous Buffett references was overlooked

QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) The Boy Scouts have programs where girls can join. (Partly as an incentive to keep older boys in the program) That's been happening for years. As far as I'm aware, girls can't be regular scouts though. BSA has had co-ed programs for a long time. Learning for Life is a classroom based program open to anyone. The program that is probably getting press there is Venturing. Venturing is open to boys and girls who are 14 years of age and have completed the 8th Grade. If a Venture has earned 1st Class rank as a Boy Scout, he can continue to earn Boy Scout advancements while in a Crew. This prevents girls from becoming Eagle Scouts, something GSUSA has always felt threatened by. There is also Explorers which is generally set up with fire and law enforcement groups and again is co-ed. Interesting to me, and maybe one or two other people here, The World Organization of Scouting Movements (WOSM) is in almost every country and each country has control over how they implement the program that Baden Rowell started in England almost 100 years ago. In the majority of countries, Scouting is co-ed. We see many Troops from Mexico at our events and it is always a kick to see how knowledgeable and competent their young ladies are. Chicago link. WD Boyce, a Chicago businessman, was the founder of Boy Scouts in America Linked here Juggs, I am sorry you fell into that kind of group. With any volunteer organization, there are great leaders and the not so great. Sounds like these adult leaders needed some more training. I hold 5 or 6 different positions within BSA, and I can assure you that your situation was rare. My hunch is there are more units like that than we think, but a tiny percentage.

  11. Are all the words spelled correctly? Better than a previous VP. Could that be code for hey Condi, how about a little me and you party in the back? Wait, that would have been out last President.
  12. Nuke, I'm glad you will blindly recite anything a politician tells you to. What should we do with the people that will not recite the pledge? Either they are with us or against us. I think we should lock them all up at Gitmo as terrorists. And finally, how many of y'all recite your state pledge? Every school child recites this after the US Pledge. I'm not certain if we secede from the Union, which Pledge takes precedence. "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible."

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) First of all its Fraternity. And stereotypes are for the ignorant. If you have that much to say about one, you wish you were in one. I have a lot to say about women, but I'd rather date one than be one.

  16. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) I'd go right for the 'Must suck to be you' jab. Hey, it can only get better from there. I was on the same line as Jim only what the hell happened to you? Or, why noy try some Freudian Therapy on her? If she is wasting your time, you might as well waste hers.
  17. This is now crazy. As a manager, I'd be thinking this erratic behavior could be brought on my a drug or alcohol problem. Not speculating exactly with Marte.
  18. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) I didn't really think it was all that tacky but a couple posters there got bent outta shape over it. It is probably tacky on that Hot Irish Chicks Getting Married Board you hang out at picking out tiarras and wedding gowns Hmm, green for Ireland or green for sarcasm??

  22. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) A tacky joke I saw on another board: Q: What is George W. Bush's position on Roe v. Wade? A: He really doesn't care how people get out of New Orleans
  23. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) it's MB without a doubt. Jon is new at this "being good" thing, and Freddy has been relatively inconsistant all season, whereas this is a new thing for MB. Mark has led our rotation for years, he should be the no. 1 be it opening day or the playoffs. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
