  2. People are basically good hearted and will help out a person in need. There is a special place in hell for the landlord.
  3. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Prepare to not be happy. Be prepared, the Boy Scout motto

Our local ordinance states nothing over 150mm after 2am. That includes, grenades, shoulder launcher RPG, surface to air missiles, etc. Welcome to Texas y'all. Actually it is illegal to set them off in the city limits, but that is generally ignored. There are several legal and illegal factories down here making them so they are cheap and plentiful. It is also considered good play to pull out your firearms and shoot bullets into the sky, because gravity is suspended on the 4th of July and the bullets won't fall to the earth.
  5. If Bush nominates a moderate to slightly conservative, he'll have my respect and admiration. If he goes neanderthal, juts out his jaw, and plays wild west sheriff, I will not be happy. Bottom line, if conservatives and liberals are disappointed, it's about right.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Stone for Brantley sounds like a winner to me. My first reaction was OMG, YAS and I agree on something. Then I realized this wasn't SL&P

Dodge 2500 V10 3/4 ton pickup I live in Texas OMG, I just realized it's green To balance things, my other car is a Pontiac Sunfire which gets decent gas mileage.

:headshake What happened to common sense?
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) You think Congress hates each other now? Wait until after these confirmation hearings... By the end of this process, Americans of all stripes will be ashamed of our elected officials. Sad. Bush will know which nominees will pass with little or no objections, those that could pass with a lot of objection, and those that have slim to no chance. I'm afraid my fellow Texan is going to pick from the slim chance category.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) My family didn't do family vacations when I was growing up, unless going to Brookfield Zoo or the museums count. Brian and I take vacations to follow minor league hockey and we are planning a weekend in November to go to a football game at either NC State (if hockey is back so I can see the Canes), Michigan State or Iowa State. I'll bet Brian would say that everyday is a vacation with you . . .
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) Steve Stone should do baseball tonight, he the smartest one out there and would provide the best insight. He still could do some analysis for ESPN as well. He would be good.
  12. Every season ebbs and flows. We were thisclose each of the last few seasons. I didn't think this was a major retooling, just a minor tweaking. It wasn't like we dumped every guy who could hit a 400 foot fly ball. What I was worried about was, I didn't see much in the way of batting average coming on board. Small/Smart ball is as much about marketing as anything. Remember the team got rid of a few fan favorites. They needed to sell the change, sell tickets, etc.
  13. More at link, but you'll wind up there all morning. I warned you.
  14. http://www.villagevoice.com/blogs/unameric...s_and_class.php More at linkage above
  15. Linkage Sadly the discussion just isn't going to be as lively without our old buddy.
  16. Glad the whole British empire thing is working out for y'all. We kicked 'em out a couple hundred years ago. Seemed to help us.
  17. Of course, when BBTN had Harry Reynolds put together his All-Star starting lineup there were zero White Sox players. The only pick that he made that I would have argued was not starting Buerhle or Garland. The best team in baseball should have at least one starter and I'm guessing it will be on the mound. I never have cared for Reynolds. He has a terrible voice for broadcasting. Brantley is an idiot, never liked him. That show is getting worse and worse.
  18. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) When I studied a broad in Europe, malls and coffee shops sold those huge monster muffins--and called them American Muffins (as opposed to the regular sized muffins). commas, are a good thing
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) Damn, that was fun! Come on YAS, Charlie Daniels?? He's the Barbara Streisand of the GOPerheads.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Has one year of arbitation left. I expect him to be signed long term after this season. Long term, in Sox terminology, is three years for a pitcher.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) 2.) We went on a day trip to a bog somewhere in Northern IL. Horrible, there were snakes and it smelled bad. We had lunch at a resturaunt that was made out of a decommissioned train. That also was really sketch I'm assuming that was Volo Bog.
  23. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/01/national...agewanted=print We need to cut everyone's taxes to zero and then watch the economy grow like crazy. The government wouldn't know what to do with all the money.
