QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Oh dear lord... Exactly where would the ineffeciencies be? That's a laugh. That's why they hire guys like Kap and pay them the big money to find them. Being a small business owner, do you know exactly where all of your ineffeciencies are? Now multiply that times billions to get governmental health care scale and try answering that again. Pricing is in Economics 101. Quantitative Analysis is quite a different field. Are you saying the inefficiencies would be on the payer side or the provider side? If it is on the payer (government) side that would not affect the health care you receive. I don't know why my Doctor would be any more or less efficient if he was receiving a check from the US or from Blue Cross. Would the inefficiencies cost more than the profits the insurance companies are generating now?

18! I was surprised. I thought that Cliffy had a shot at something with 5 so early in the season. He's got a long way to go.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:47 AM) Its not really opinion, but economic law. Ineffeciencies are always more present in fields where their is monopolistic pricing models. There is no incentive to reduce cost, because of lack of competition, there is no pressure to keep prices down. They can put whatever price they want on it, because people have to have it, and there is no one to undercut their pricing. Exactly where will the inefficiencies be? In the Doctor's office and Hospitals or at the payment centers? As far as keeping costs down, first of all wouldn't that mean making it more difficult to seek treatment and tests and a reduction in the quality of health care you would receive? Interestingly Doctors are more concerned about dwindling reimbursements for treatments. They are worried that the government will not be as generous with their payments as private insurance. They also worry about differences in costs between say Manhatten, NY and Manhatten, IL. If the reimbursements per procedure are the same, it would be a disaster for big city Doctors.

What is shows is how a team is like a puzzle. Lee IMHO is a better player, yet we could take a little away in power to add some speed, and come out ahead.

Looking at the trade today, it seems like one of those rare trades that both sides could be happy with. El Cabalo is on his way to the All-Star Game and Pods has been very useful at the top of the order. Toss on the balance of the trade and it is one of those rare both sides are happy trades. Especially nice that it involved an NL team.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 06:59 AM) Yep, those immortal word came out of that cute kid sitting in the field in that photo. It didn't take him long to get his priorities in order. That realy should be in a song

Defining point: Is a coach more influential to getting a team it's base of wins or putting it over the top and a championship? I believe the players get the team in position and the coach helps finish the deal and puts the team over the top. The coaches biggest influence isn't winning the first game, it's winning the last.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) LMAO - you do have a point. I just did some quick research and calculations. Based on Southsiders posts for that week, a modest 40 wpm typing skill, 6 hours of sleep per night, communting to work, etc. it left exactly 3 minutes and 12 seconds for sex was it good for her too? remember I kid because I care

Are you able to do anything for your employees? That's where I think the greatest benefit to our economy would come. By making small business competitive in benefit packages, talented employees would be more willing to start or go to work for a small business.

Lets hope for some early runs to help the kid out.

I remember rabbit ears and channel 44, then sportsvision which was a pay over the air subscription service that was easily stolen via "black boxes". Those decisions are being felt today when we are tens of thousands per game behind the Cubs in attendance.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) He still looks like he's ready to hit a pitch a mile and a half. He's totally imposing up there. I told my son when Frank walked up it would be a walk or a home run. Damn he looks so solid.
-
I don't like hyperbole, but this is rapidly looking like the best White Sox team in my lifetime.
-
Watching Frank draw the walk was vintage 1993. Even today is scares the s*** out of pitchers. Amazing.

I Love This Team

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but that woman's quote makes it sound like they saw the whole thing develop and let it continue. "We were just laying on the deck watching him...." QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) That's exactly what it sounds like. "Hey honey get some popcorn, I'll get the blanket, I think the wierd neighbor boy is finally gonna drill the dog".
