QUOTE(mreye @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) What really burns me about all this is that the left, not all, but most on the left, and even a few here at Soxtalk, seem to be rooting against America, and are downright giddy when the US fails. All that gets reported is death and protesters and any failures. If you want to report the news - report ALL - good and bad. Personally, when our troops are in harm's way, I root FOR America, no matter who the President is. I don't pick sides based on my political beliefs. Let us not forget that we are the good guys in this. When we uncover prisoner abuse, we investigate and prosecute our own. It is not tolerated. Does Al Qaeda do that? Do Muslim extremists go after the people beheading innocent civilians? No, they're "martyrs." Some here seem to agree with that. That disgusts me. LCR, you keep harping on how the Pentagon waited a few days to deny this report. Would you rather them deny right away only to find out it was true later? They investigated before commenting. I, for one, like and appreciate the due diligence. It's what I expect from my country. Sometimes rooting for the Troop means pushing to get them out of harms way. Sometimes rooting for America is pushing to hold ourselves to a much higher standard, not using wacko terrorists as the standard bearer for our conduct. I cannot believe for a second you are thinking we should judge our conduct based on theirs, so I must be mis-reading your meaning. What burns me is so many on the right accept whatever our GOP-led government is doing as correct, no matter what and quickly brand anyone else as un-American, even communists. Remember the Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Bush bumper stickers? That behavior goes both ways. If Fox News' lead story was 6,000,000 drivers arrived at work safely today. Stories that begin like "here is one driver who commuted from Elmhurst to the Northside and arrived SAFELY, tell us about the trip." Would you be reading the article? If there is a 12 car pile up on the Kennedy, would you read that? Stuff working like it is suppose to isn't usually newsworthy, or of any interest to most readers.

Norm Coleman Gets Owned on MSNBC
QUOTE(Yossarian @ May 23, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) I saw Galloway. He is a fierce debater, a veteran of the British Parliament where they regularly have real live debates with real live debaters. You could not help be impressed with his performance. He made his accusers look weak and small. He was direct, articulate and defiant. Why the big surprise? Like I said, in Britain they are far more skilled in the art of debate than the arrogant, pea brained, blow dried assholes we have in both houses of our Congress. However a little investigation is in order. Galloway has a past and quite a bit of baggage to go with him. Hey, if you're left oriented he's your guy. Our man George is still lamenting the fall of the old Soviet Empire. You think we have left leaning politicians in the good old USA? Galloway and company make Dennis Kucinich look like Eisenhower Republicans. Yes, George Galloway won that round of the debate in convincing fashion. It must have given Bush haters everywhere cause for joy. Maybe a couple of 9-11 style attacks and it will be Partaaaayyyyyy. After all, it's been a while. Jolly good show old chap. Ooops, I shouldn't have said that Galloway is from Scotland. That was a fine show Laddddie. He's still an asshole. You don't even have to turn over any rocks, just a little basic investigation will do. I also enjoy the British debates. I look for strong leaders of character in the Senate, party affiliation is usually secondary. I would love seeing a 50-50 split always. The Congress, less so. I am a bit taken back that anyone would think that Dems would Partaaaayyyyy at a 9-11 attack. In fact I am appalled that anyone would even think of that. If anyone should be looking in the mirror, it is you. :headshake

Sex offenders in NY getting Viagra paid for
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 23, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I think the real question isn't why is Viagra paid for sex offenders by medicaid. BUT WHY IS IT PAID FOR ANYONE WITH MEDICAID. We wonder why the government is so messed up. It does seem kind of strange, but we do pay for other quality of life drugs.

Uribe's "foul call"
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 23, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) GMAFB. What's next "your shoes are untied?" If the difference between this team winning and losing is childish ploys like this, this team is in trouble. There are certain things you should outgrow, I guess some people haven't. I'd rather see them play like men, not little boys.

Why the Sox should be #1 in Chicago
I was thinking today, if the Cubs and Sox didn't play in Chicago, where would they fit in? The Cubs seem like a L.A. team. The fans, the atmosphere, the "charm". The Sox seem more like Detroit or Pittsburg. Chicago should be rejecting the plastic, fake Cubs and embracing the Sox, yet it still isn't close. It just doesn't make sense. What happened the the working man's teams? The Bears during the Dikta regime tapped into it.

Uribe's "foul call"
What Uribe did was so Little League as to be laughable. There are many unwritten rules in baseball, and this is probably one of them. What's next Uribe chanting Hey batter batter, Swing batter!? I'd bet when Fisk was the team leader he would have had more to say than Kong. There is a professional way to play.

Is someone from Texas in here?
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ May 23, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) Never been to College Station but I have been to Athens, GA several times when I was living in GA. Dude, beautiful place. Athens is known as a music hotspot and you'll be surrounded by Georgia peaches (that's what they call the women, sweet as peaches). TX women are hot, but they haven't got s*** on GA women. Atlanta is only 45mins to an hour from Athens, not to mention you're within just a few hours of the Atlantic coast and less than 8 from the Gulf of Mexico. The weather isn't near as brutal as TX in the summer but just a bit cooler in the winter. So, educational value aside, IMO UGA is the school you should be checking out. A&M is in a more temperate band so summer wouldn't be as bad as say down by me or out west. GA has a lot going for it also. I don't think you could go wrong in either place.

Ozzie's Rant
With out track record with guys coming up to start, I agree with OZ's on field move. At least BMac wasn't in his car by the 7th inning in a hurry to get back to AAA . . .

Former Sox Player D. Jimenez
There are probably at least 1,000 guys world wide who have the talent to play 2nd base in the MLB. It's attitude and desire that makes the difference.

Ozzie's Rant
Will Oz's manners put fans in the seats, or keep them away? I'm guessing he's going to be a draw. In some ways I see some Dikta in Oz. I believe a quick analysis would have been better along with an Ozzism, but he's acting like a Chicago guy. I think changing his name to Ozzie Rogalski would be the final icing on the cake.

Irresponsible Journalism
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 22, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) That article incited a bunch of people to riot so your attempt at sarcasm falls flat. I didn't realize that so many people read Newsweek over there. Like the prisoner abuse story, much of this was told for weeks from person to person, in country, before the Newsweek story. And if America media is held in such high regard by these extremists, why aren't they throwing roses at our feet after listening to Rush? Certainly they would have become dittoheads by now. Amazing that people who would take up arms against the US government would wait for a Newsweek article before taking action.

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) This is exactly what Mariotti's deal is... He isn't trying to write about the facts. He's trying to stir up s***, just to sell newspapers. Even Cubs fans don't respect his worthless hide and if you lived in Chicago you would know that no one does. If you can't see that, well, I'm sorry. I lived in Chicago for 38 years, and am very familiar with Mariotti. Every column he writes sets off Sox fans. If it's negative, he's a moron, if it's positive, he's a band wagon jumper. If you can't see that anything, no matter what, he writes is criticized by some Sox fans, then I'm sorry. Almost all the complaints sound the same. That mean boy on the playground Jay is saying mean stuff again. Guess what? Not everyone thinks the Sox are the greatest franchise ever. Get over it. Perhaps 90 years without a WS and a playoff appearance once a decade isn't so great for a team in a major market. Wow! Even Cub fans? I had no idea. Now I'll whine and moan like everyone else no matter what he writes. at anyone that looks to Cub fans for justification.

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 22, 2005 -> 07:31 AM) LOL, wow. Mariotti is the biggest flip-flopping piece of crap in the world. If the Sox lose 4 games in a row to the Angels he will be the first one to say, "I TOLD YOU SO!" and that our team is a sham and never had a chance to begin with. He IS a moron and I can't believe you are defending the guy. This guy changes his mind more than John Kerry. :rolly A moron would keep saying this team is the same as 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. The team is different. Did YOU love the results from the 2003 or 2004 team? Would you have written the same articles in 1999 as 2005? If this team was 19 games under .500 instead of 19 game over .500 would you write the same article? His job is to write about the team. When things are going right, that's one kind of article, when it goes wrong that's another. I can' stand the whining like third graders that a commentator said something mean about the team. Every article he's either a bandwagon jumper or a moron. Sox fans only want to hear happy news. Instead of pointing out that Shingo isn't producing the same results as last season, Sox fans want a piece on how Shngo is now the worlds greatest setup man!! Mommy mommy he's saying something mean. Sox fans watching the news

Moronatti jumping on the Sox bandwagon?!
Let's see if he accurately reports that a team is one of the biggest surprises on baseball and for real, he's are a bandwagon jumper. If he continues to rip the team, he's an asshole. Nice to see Jay has so many good options here with Sox fans. No matter what he writes, most of the people here will find some childish way to rip him. Remember anyone who writes that we do not have the greatest franchise in history is a moron. Sox fans can only read a homer who tells us what we want to hear. Mommy, Mommy, Jay is saying mean things about me!
