I was expecting a great year from Jon. But this is well beyond anything I dreamed. I figured he to be #2 or #3 in wins on the staff. What an unbelievable start to the season.

Thank you. I realized last night some of the guilt I was feeling was there are many posters here who I would feel a much greater loss if they passed, then someone who I knew since junior high school and who I was closer to than my own brother. It was a big strange to read his obituary and find out all the cool things he had done, that I was unaware of. I am up in Dallas for a week of training, which relieved myself of any duty I felt to attend the wake or funeral. I also provided a great bit of therapy to spend the evening with one of our admins and his lovely wife. Thanks Kap.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) One really has nothing to do with the other. I mean all of us here at Soxtalk know what we're talking about and we've never played any pro ball. Good Commentators all like the Sox Evil ones do not 30 teams in MLB, each team should, in theory, be the top story once a month.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) http://www.canada.com/national/nationalpos...26-6ae788a3ea57 Maybe the influx of all those medical dollars here will help with the trade deficit. Evil are you able to offer health insurance benefits for your employees? How long did it take your business to get in that position? Small businesses are the ones that will not outsource to Taipai, the grow roots in a community, yet have the hardest time offering decent benefits to their employees. I know we could do better than England and Canada with a single payer system. I have employees making between $6.75 and $10 per hour. If I covered their health insurance it would result in a 40% tod 90% increase in my labor costs. We have to do something in this area to strengthen American small business.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) I can with near-certainty guarantee that the Falstaff brand will be sold and resurrected in someone else's portfolio. The original Falstaff Brewery got into serious financial trouble back in teh early 70s spreading itself too thin with the Ballentine acquisition, and it had been a hard grind and a bounce from brewery to brewery ever since. But there is too much history and name recognition for the brand to stay dormant for too long. Let's pool our money. I'll kick in $55.87

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I really think the next attack will come into the US over the Mexico border. I believe it will be on a flight from Europe or possibly home grown again. With tourism making it very easy to visit the US, the terrorists would recruit people without records to travel to the US. Nice and easy. Hop on an airplane and arrive in the front door. Why take the risk of never making it by running out of water, snakes, sensors, patrols, etc? It is much easier to come right in the front door.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) I never said I had all the answers. If I did, I'd give Hillary a run for her money in '08. But we do need more effective border control. Somehow. I agree. We could start by acknowledging that a couple million migrant workers come to the US every year, stay for 8 or 9 months, then return to Mexico without hurting anyone, taking someone's job they want, planting bombs, etc. Employers need them, they need the employers. We are far safer when we have prosperous neighbors than starving neighbors. We should fear economic ruin before bombs. We are borrowing hundreds of millions of dollars every year from foreign banks and countries. The next act of terrorism will be financial. Do we really think Bin Laden would send terrorists into the country with nothing more than a gallon water jug and the clothes on their backs?

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) And Dye and Rowand look worse and worse each game. Iguchi's looking better, but I would like to see him drive the ball a little better. Be great if he could get some doubles, etc. Such is the season. As long as the entire team doesn't get in a funk at the same time.
