  1. Gas will not hit $3 per gallon. Dubya will fix that well before.
  2. What a sick, disturb, bastard.
  3. We also shouldn't allow American countries to operate in any country that isn't an ally. If they didn't back us on Iraq, pull every damn product out of there and start building it in the US. If an American company wants to operate in France or any otehr non ally, they can just close their doors here. Let's take back America!
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Why are you so defensive of France? Me? I say screw France along with every other country on the planet that didn't back Dubya's play in Iraq. Why single out the French? There was about 150 other countries that did the same thing. They all suck.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) I'm sorry people ... Use all the logic and political arguments you want. I feel that France has been anything but an ally and if somewone invades their pussy ass country, as far as I'm concerned, they can fight their own battles. They are not worth one drop of American blood. Same can be said for Canada, Mexico, China, Germany, Poland, Italy, and all the others that didn't back our action in Iraq. There were WMD, Bush knew it, and these "pussy ass countries" didn't do a thing to help. Edited to add: Here's the Coalition of the Willing Full list of coalition countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan. The rest of the world can go to hell. Actually, with Pearl Harbor, screw Japan. Afghanistan helped Iran during the hostage crisis, so screw them. Any of the ex-Commie countries can get lost also.
  6. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I was merely agreeing with his point that anyone can make anything they want, but I was ultimately saying all of that crap is worthless and devoid of anything positive. Good point. I remember the Ayatollah Khomeini toilet paper of 1979. ANd all of the Khomeini dart boards with his picture and a bullseye.
  7. The nice thing is, we only have one or two on the planet, so we can save ourselves a lot in foreign aid that would be spent on food, raiment, shelter for our citizens. England, Spain, and a couple other small countries are still in, for now.
  8. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) I feel proud that I have either confused or dumbed down a large population of the posters here at Soxtalk. Here's to another 3,000 posts or something! QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) I just went back in the Soxtalk record books, and THREE of those posts DON'T COUNT!!!! Sorry for the Mr. 3000 reference..... to myself.... Nice touch on a baseball board.
  9. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) where were my purple heart band-aids again? Nothing like making fun and casting doubt on every Purple Heart ever awarded. Oh wait, Out of the tens of thousands of recipients, Kerry's was the only one in question. :headshake
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) That's all well and good, until the next time an equivilient of the Gestapo is running France. When that happens, the French can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned. An all or nothing foreign policy will work. Any country that doesn't 100% capitulate to US policies, wants, and desires is cut off forever. That should stop any country from going against US. Why have all this power if we don't use it?
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Kerry on, my wayword son. Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea

That's why they invented the ignore feature. No need to read when you know what the post is about.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) You mean you'd do it liberally! Some would Rush to do it

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) As long as Frank comes back for 2mil a year I be happy on keeping both. 2/7 of our payroll is realistic, 20 mill of a 70 mil payroll, I don't see JR raising that, unless we have a huge attendance this year. The only good thing if we do rebuild it should be with a new GM.. something that should have taken place 2 years ago IMO. Congratulations on your 1,000 post slamming Kenny!! Not many people have the tenacity to post the same thing over and over again!! Way to Go. $2mil for Frank? I guess you don't want him. You don't want to reward loyalty, you don't want your #1 draw, you don't want the only guy who will be in Cooperstown wearing a White Sox cap the past 20 years. :headshake It seems like some people think we can put a bunch of $2mil a year guys out there and win something. If you load the team with all average players, you will get average results. Also, without some star drawing power, the casual fans aren't coming out to the game. So you could trade away anyone who ever makes an All-Star game to wins a post season award, but it costs you in the end. Imagine a promotional campaign built around Joe Crede and Russ Gload. Yeah!

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) I say, let's wait and see what he does in 2005. And many teams do. But we certainly have a lot of experience with Paul, know his strengths and weaknesses. Using a 4 year contract as a starting point, the team and the player expect certain performances, whatever dollar amount they decide on, during those 4 years. So the team is guessing on 2006-2009. I think they could make that evaluation just as easily today as 5 months from now. If Paul has another solid to great season, waiting could price the Sox out of the market. If Paul returns to 2003 levels waiting could save them money. I think the best strategy is to sign him quickly to a 4-5 year deal.
  16. I believe a 45 minute Oz fest would be hilarious. I don't put a lot of stock in motivational speeches from managers, not when these guys have millions of reasons to stay motivated.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) I have no problem with a 3 year $25 million deal. Either would the White Sox. If I was Paul, I'd have a problem. He's going to be 29 in about a week or so. He better be looking at a 5-6 year deal. Someone will give it to him. My guess is if he signs with the Sox during the season it will be around 5/$50. If he waits until the season ends, has anything close to a season like last year, something closer to $60. If the Sox make the playoffs and he does anything in the playoffs, someone will really open the checkbook. Next question, When May becomes June and there isn't a signed contract do you see him getting traded for a couple second tier prospects and a serviceable 1st baseman? Obviously that will also depend on where we are in the standings. But I'll bet there are a lot of GMs in the league with Mr. Paul "Queen Prawn Fanof14" Konerko name in bold letters just waiting to see what happens. If I had to predict the 2006 home of PK, I'd say the Sox followed closely by Yankee pinstripes.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) It's sad too because he was a great utility backup. He'd rather be a starter on a last place team than be a backup on a contender... Pride, I wouldn't want a guy on my team that didn't consider himself a starter.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Siriusly though, I'm expecting an increase in spelling mistakes in the south.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Is Maggilo Ordonez worth $105 million though Tex? If Maggs didn't hire Bora$$ as his agent, who knows what type of deal he would have gotten. Is he worth 105? No. But I have a hard time with all these salaries when someone like A-Rod makes more in a day than Nuke or a teacher in a year, our society is really screwed up. With his past injury, I believe Borass was his best bet. Remember much of this contract hinges on his continued good health. Without the injury and based on the ridiculous economics in baseball, I think he would have settled into the $90 to $100 range without any trouble at all.

  23. QUOTE(winodj @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) I was born in Michigan City, Indiana. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Oh, so it just smelled like France.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) I'm pissed. Now I'm pissed I missed the obvious joke and have no mod powers to edit the title.
