I forgot, baseball owners never hand out asinine contracts. I didn't claim it was a good deal for the ball club that signs him to it. Remember, in free agent bidding the winning team always overpays. They bid more than another team. Sometimes it pans out, other times it doesn't.

Who else is a FA, which teams need a DH / 1B guy, how the Sox finish next season, all come into play. If he improves on 2004, If there is a smaller FA class, I could easily see a 4/40 contract in his future. Maybe a 5/50.

At least they are trying to provide a service. One thing I can say about Mexico is I have never seen an able bodied man asking for a handout. There is an army of squeegy dudes, (They do a great job), shoe shine guys, guys selling .05 chiclets for .50 etc. but they are trying to do something. The guys that won't at least try something bug me.

Obviously this is a GOP inspired tactic to remove anything blue from the landscape. I'm surprised the decision wasn't to go with red seats
