See that south-east-most area of Texas? That's me.

I just picked my first orange of the season off a tree in my backyard. Not quite as nostalgic as picking apples at Heatley Orchards in Round Lake, but it will have to do.

I always empty my pocket of loose change and singles whenever I pass a kettle.

Welcome aboard 10-1 this is somebody we know. By the way, Sex, Lies, and Politics (SLAP) is the best place to post this.

The World Series drought will continue. Getting past the Red Sox or Yankees would require a miracle. So reality states we are just trying to win a division. It doesn't take a $90mil payroll to win the Central. Until baseball decides that having 3 or 4 uber-teams and some road kill for them to play is a bad idea, we'll continue to march towards 100 years without a World Series win.

After I stopped laughing, I realized this really is a great lesson in economics. If enough people value something, it has value. My understanding is that he now has rights to develop the property and sell lots on his island. If he sells enough lots, he could make a profit. It is a gamble, but not much different than betting the Bears can cover the spread tomorrow, or that your system of blackjack will work. Welcome to the new age of economies.

I did some searching and I cannot find any mainstream software site that talks about either of those two programs. If you decide to pay the registration fee, their additional features really are nice. If they are loading some 3rd party crap, they have fooled the the mainstream press.

I just sold him naming rights to SL&P for US$10,000, Jas, I hope you don't mind.

We needed a lead off type guy. Sometimes overpaying for waht you need, is what you have to do. Imagine you where drowning, would you swap your Suburban for a 14' row boat? Now that he has the money, he can fill the hole he created. This probably will do little more than bring us back to even. But isn't that what we always do.

If it is good parenting to not allow your child to play these games, shouldn't it be good social responsibility to assure that all kids do not have easy access to these games? Isn't being a good parent also making certain that other kids, those same kids that are on sports teams with your kid, in the same classroom as your kid, do not have easy access to these materials? What good is it if your kid is fine but another kid decides to practice something he learned in a video game on *your* kid's head? What if some kid decides your daughter is going to be his b**** ho and he's going to dominate her like he just did for 14 hours on a video game? A good parent, and a good citizen, works to make our society better for the everyone, if that isn't possible, then for the majority.

I was thinking he was getting a little slow on the DP pivot so going to 3rd should be helpful. His arm strength is solid and he's resonably quick. My guess is a dozen E-5 early in the season, then he should settle down and do ok.

I heard this on ESPN this afternoon. In a 7 game series, the Yankees could be favored against a team made up of the remaining AL ALL_Stars. If they get Johnson, he'd be their starter. Give 1st and 2nd base to the AL ALL-Stars, then SS, 3B, L-C-R to the Yankees.

That is the funniest thing I have read in a long time What happened to loyalty? Valentin was a hustler, good to children, always said nice things about the organization. Damn greedy owners. I hope players don't start acting like owners and just worry about money and winning.

I'll take Thursdays. Actually, once again, I believe he has done a very good job of putting together a cabinet. I thought in the beginning his first cabinet was outstanding, and with only one small sidestep, this one is also shaping up very well. I hope his party can pull him towards the center. I am very optimistic he will have a steller 4 years.

Look, only a couple changes and this could have been written for Saddam. Over a 1,000 US service men and women have died fighting to give the Iraqi people freedom of speech. God I hope they don't use it to criticize their president

I find it ironic that Cadillac would never have used a Led Zeppelin song when it was popular in the 70s. I do not mind as much if the song actually works with the show. CSI using Don't Get Fooled Again and Who Are You work nicely and I never tire of a good Who song.

On almost every list of great free agent signings is Fisk to the White Sox. On some worst free agent signing lists is Navarro for $20 mil. I thought Belle played well, 79 home runs and all.

Elvis is already atop the charts in earnings for a dead celeb. There is more Elvis crap than anything else besides the last supper. Why religion and Elvis spawn such crap art work is beyond me. Which reminds me I have to go clean my Blacklight Elvis on Velvet painting.

And in that is where the problem with drunk driving falls. In a cruel paradox, the moment you are least equiped to judge your condition, is when you really need to judge your condition. It is easy to say while sitting here we aren't going to drive drunk. Then you are out with friends and have a drink, you check yourself and know you are ok to drive. You have a couple more, laughing, joking, and of course you still believe you can drive. Then a couple of shots, you start to drink a little quicker, the music is picking up the pace, you are getting sleepy, and after all that, you need to get home. This is the time your judgement is at it's worse. I am not making any excuses for druk driving, just pointing out the unfortunate reality of the problem.

Take a trip in the way back machine to 1999/2000 era. The White Sox were the envy of MLB with their minor leagues filled with can't miss prospects like Jon Rauch. :headshake One of these guys has to break through to at least a 6-8 kind of record. Anything than 0-season.

Alcohol is manufactured under controlled circumstances, you know what you are getting. Not so with illegal drugs. Alcohol use by itself will not cause you to be arrested, tried, and possibly convicted of a crime. Thus negatively impacting your ability to be hired in certain jobs. Alcohol can be purchased at the local convienence store, much safer than most drug deals. Just a couple differences off the top of my head.
