  1. Balloting will begin soon on the 2004 Best of Soxtalk Awards. Each category will be vote only, no discussion, but feel free to use this thread for any contest related questions or comments. This year there are a couple tweaks in categories. There wasn't a battle of the threads like last year, and that category was dropped. The post of the year was in reply to how to ask a girl at Blockbuster out on a date. Critic replied The only nomination and clearly a deserving winner. Voting will end at the end of this year. Happy New Years
  2. GMAFB? GM Air Force Base?? You lost me kap. Sox fans are so thin skinned about this. JR having a major thorn in his side pushing for a better Cell, better FA, better results, is better than the yes men, cheerleaders, they are trying to line up. I expect the Cubs to tightly control what is said about the Lovable Losers, but when the Sox bully a station it's just sad. I am smart enough to know when to disagree with any reporter/columnist when they are wrong. I also can agree with the same columnist when they are writing right. Basically the Sox said "he's being mean to me, make him go away. We are good people, we've tried very hard to get to a world series." That seems childish. The Lee Stern letter is the start. Now they will rid the airwaves of anyone negative. Soon we'll be basking in the same glow as Cub fans. :headshake
  3. insert gay innuendo joke here
  4. Elaine thought the same thing. Then she discovered that trying to compete when you only see one once or twice a week is tough against someone that actually owns one of those . . . great episode.
  5. Regardless of party? Whoa, I thought you voted for Bush?? I suggested to a congressional candidate that the number of years of elected office should be next to the candidates names on the ballot. I thought it was good info for voters to have.
  6. If Lamont from Sanford and Son pops up, that would be freaky
  7. I guess I would feel the same way about Rush or Hannity. Interesting that some people who are disliking Mariotti for his biased, one sided, view of the world, love the entertainment that is the GOP radio network and their biased, one sided, view of the world. Interesting in one thread people were pointing out how the Cell sucked at first but a series of renovations have really improved it. When Mariotti was criticizing it, everyone said it was his personal attack at JR. Just to pick one example. Now that no one in the media will be criticizing JR and CO. we'll have that World Series for sure. I'll bet attendance will go through the roof. Free Agents will be lining up to play for the Sox and Bulls.
  8. Solid citizen. Exciting player.
  9. I hate cheerleader sports guys. Down here, in a small market, that's all you get. They have their noses so far up these coaches and managers's asses it isn't even funny. Then, if they have a chance to visit Cowboy training camp, it's break out the chapstick and kiss every ass in sight. Trust me, having someone in the media, like Mariotti, thinking the Sox should act like they are in Chicago and not Des Moines, and nothing less than a World Series should be the goal, is a good thing.

In the epic choice of Rome v. Marriotti (bush-kerry II) I'll take Mariotti, at least Jay can pronounce names right and usually limits his comments to something he is at least close to.
  11. Great. Now we can get reporters who will keep telling us great we are. We need cheerleaders to tell us Jon Garland is Cy Young and Pods is better than Ricky and JR is the greatest owner in all sports.
  12. As much as I hate to admit it, I believe Sox spending is fair. I would like to see just once filling a hole without digging another. Or possibly doing more than just filling the hole, maybe building something there??
  13. I see one or two of these guys knocking over a White Hen in Rockford while wearing their letterman's jacket.
  14. Are all liberals pinko commies or just the ones that stand out next to the skinhead, racists conservatives?
  15. That makes two of us . I guess my point is we do not need to spend $150,000,000, we need to maybe spend $90 million to make the kind of move to domination that the Yankees did. I do not believe JR is wiling to do that. He is the consumate everyman owner, enjoying being everyone's friend.
  16. From what I remember the "Pentagon" plane was travelling over populated areas and shooting it down would have caused deaths over a wider area. QWhich comes back to the Penn plane down at the least populated spot along it's route. Luck? Divine intervention? Or good pentagon planning?
  17. My recollection of watching it live was all the confusion about how the 1st plane went in. Pilot error, pilot suicide, etc. were all being discussed when the 2nd plane hit. I'm fuzzy on the time frame but I thought it was less than a half hour.
