Court: Mom's Eavesdropping Violated Law
The article I read said the ruling had basically zero to do with the daughter, but every thing to do with the person the daughter was talking to. Do you mind if anyone and everyone was allowed to eavesdrop on your kid's conversation? I know I don't want some pedophile being able to listening when my daughter is talking with a friend. This ruling basically protects us from that.

Whose story do you believe?
I believe the White Sox look at their history with guys who left. Is any team better at having players leave and still love the organization?

Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
None of these guys have won a damn thing and they have had years trying. Any player with more than three years on the team can be tossed and replaced for all I care.

Court: Mom's Eavesdropping Violated Law
So do I. But as many people pointed out, this purse snatcher is free because we cannot eavesdrop on his call to his girlfriend. I don't think any of us would mind if the government monitored all our calls. Wireless already has the potential. Any hobbyist with a chip change can scan the wireless phone frequencies. It's illegal, but I bet entertaining.

But when you see a assclown like this purse snatcher rotting in jail instead of whining about his rights, it feels good.

Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
Earlier in this or one of the other Maggs threads someone quoted a WSI piece that called Maggs surgery "experimental". FWIW, from a friend of my son's father, an orthopedic surgeon I saw last night. He had no idea was was meant by "shock therapy to the knee" he went on to say . . . "the US is very slow in recognizing any medicines or procedures that are developed in this country. They are even slower in recognizing anything new from other countries. What we call "experimental" is sometimes common practice for decades elsewhere." he went on to say that in a pharmacology class way back when it was the professor's opinion that aspirin today could not pass FDA approval. Stomach issues, future fertility problems if kids take it, and some other things. So common aspirin could be "experimental" in the US. He was trained in Mexico but is board certified in the US. He doesn't think the US has a monopoly on truth and knowledge. That some advances in science and technology could be developed outside the US. There is intelligent life in other countries. It may or may not be more accurate to use the phrase "cutting edge" or "best known course of treatment". Or it could be Maggs bet his baseball career on a back alley quack with a Micky Mouse degree.

Maggs: 'Why not the Cubs?'
I should have said, Maggs health isn't an issue to the White Sox. He wasn't going to play for the Sox next year no matter what. The lowest they could offer (per SS) was a 20% pay cut and no matter what condition the knee was in, that wasn't going to happen.

Whose story do you believe?
There is no way that either side is 100% truthful in all this. There are too many opinions and emotions involved. There are also too many privacy matters involved for anyone to tell the whole story, so we are going to only see the edited parts.

Maggs: 'Why not the Cubs?'
Sorry I should have started a new thread. I was just thinking Maggs health today isn't really an issue, it's how it will be come May. And then I remembered Frank was still questionable. Sorry

Damn millionaire baseball player having emotions like normal people. :fyou Companies merge everyday and people have to go work somewhere else and they don't whine and pout. Baseball players aren't like you and me. They are different. All those millions proves it. They should understand if the GM thinks the team is better off without them. Now an average Joe or Jane who is perhaps leading their company in sales or whatever when they hear that the company thinks they can do better, they don't pout or whine, they just realize the company is doing what is best for the company, and work extra hard.

Tell the truth, you are bored at work and what to pad the post total- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
Whose Pat, and why is he involved?- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
And what difference does this make? So the offer came with a "if approved by MLB". Aren't ALL contracts approved by MLB, not just the big ones? I cannot think anyone here thinks Maggs is coming out ahead for turning down the last offer. He lost that gamble when he collided in the outfield. The Sox may have dodged a bullet on this one. I cannot see 5/70 looking like a bargain.- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
Would the player's or owner's insist on more stringent regulations regarding deferred compensation. I find it strange that either one would have negotiated less flexibility into their contracts.- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
From that portion quoted above and the few articles I just read, it seems they could just fund the principle within two years. Taking say $20,000,000 if it is deferred for 20 years, the principle amount would be lower than if they deferred for 10 years. Hence the negotiations. It may only need $5,000,000 set aside instead of $10,000,000.- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
A-Rod was deferred More than 20 years. Not saying that Maggs is in the same position. That is what is meant by having it fully funded within two years.- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
Steff,do you have a link to the CBA? I was searching and counldn't find it on-line?- Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
I wonder how much a cap in Cooperstown is worth?- Sox Shopping Carlos Lee?
Imagine this scary scenario, the Cubs laughed at the Bartman incident. Got loose, Gonzo doesn't bobble the easy ground ball etc. etc.- Maggs: 'Why not the Cubs?'
Loyalty has to be a two-way street. Thank Curt Flood for this. I would not want a career that allowed the company to tell me where to live. I support the players having free agency. Too bad it never is pretty. - Magglio doesn't go so quietly aft
