Nap on the train?? Do you enjoy getting groped and robbed by strangers?
-
Nah, I'm starting my own show. Seems easy enough. I'm bashing the Corrupt News Network (CNN)

Kerry punched grandmothers in the face when he got back from Vietnam

It's over the counter in Mexico, and prostitution is legal. See the marketing synergy. Old guys stopping off at the pharmacy before a trip to Disney World aka Boy's Town.

You're premise is we would be out of it before the season started. You never see us competing with the Yankees and Red Sox? I think you get better by competing against the best. Not only on the field, but in the GM position, the ownership position, the travelling secretaries position. Imagine if we were trying to unseat the Yankees instead of the Twins? Then we would be trying to build a WS Champion instead of a best of the worse team. True, most seasons we would be chasing a wild card, not a battle to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Put another way. Would a Championship AAA team in the Cell outdraw the Sox finishing in third? If the only reason to go to a game, was for Mr. Fair Weather, Bandwagon Jumping Fan to see a winner, why not be the biggest market minor league team? I'll answer that. Because people want to see baseball talent. They want to see Bonds, Jeter, A-Rod. They want to come out and jeer the Yankmees. Let's stop thinking Smallsville USA and compete in the premier division, not the bottom feeders.

As a manager I expected my employees to get offers and listen to them. I figured if I was half decent at recruiting and training my people should be most wanted. Most of the time they would tell me before going. It was the time they didn't that I knew I was close to losing them.

Kerry voted against 2+2=4 and clean water for our Troops
-
AT that time there were only two divisions and it was prefered to the east. The division was very geographic with only Milwaukee being west of the Sox and in the East Division.
-
I agree. In our division the only reason to go to a game is if the Sox are winning. If they are losing stay home because Central Division baseball only offers mediocre talent and non competitive teams. It is the weakest division. Sox fans would rather watch the Sox beat up on a talentless Tigers team than watch the best teams in baseball. I believe seasons like 86, 87, 88, 89, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2002, 2003, and 2004 would be helped by better teams to see.
-
And just to be clear, I believe it would be a disaster from a competitive side, but I believe JR would make more money. That is why I could see him exploring the idea. Plus he would have a built in excuse every season for not winning. No pressure, just cash the checks.

Look at Baltimore, Tampa, and Torontos HOME attendance. I believe we will inch closer to Baltimore than Toronto with better games and more national exposure. Do you want to compete in the big leagues or try and be second fiddle of the worst division?
-
Most seasons we are out of the playoff race. OK, the once a decade when we win the division our attendance will be better. The rest of the time, it will be better. Perhaps attendance would not have fallen off so dramatically if we were playing the Yankees and not the Tigers. Let's follow my logic. The team is out of the race. Who's in town? The Tigers, I can see Pudge. The team is out of the race. Who's in town? The Yankees, I can see Jeter, A-Rod, etc. I can understand why Sox attendance would take such a nose dive. And the Sox outdrew each of the past 3 seasons, and we were further out earlier. So give Sox fans credit for also being baseball fans. We are not such a group of fair weather fans. Of course winning increases attendance, but so does good baseball and superstars. You may prefer to watch the Sox beat up on a s***ty team, but there are other people who enjoy good baseball. The battle is for the casual fan. The hardcore attend the games regardless of standings. The casual fan will come out to see great teams and superstar players.

Why JR would place profits over competitiveness?
-
Plus, in those years when we are out of the playoff race, which game is going to draw more Yankees or Indians? Red Sox or Twins?
-
No matter where the Yankees, Cubs, and Bo Sox travel to, they draw bigger crowds. I am showing the ROAD rankings of attendance. So the Yankees draw an average of 40,000+ away from Yankee Stadium. Let's look at home attendance: #1 Yankees, #12 Boston, #13 Baltimore, #25 Toronto, #30 Tampa Bay #22 White Sox, #23 Detroit, #24 Minny, #26 Cleveland, #28 Kansas City Which group do you want to be part of? Do you think we will drop down to Toronto type numbers or increase to Baltimore type numbers? With more games against the premier teams in baseball, those teams that draw national attention, are in the thick of the race, with the superstars of baseball, we will increase attendance. Now the downside is we will be closer to the Washington Generals than the Globetrotters. But from a business profit standpoint, I can see why JR would explore the idea.
-
We would also recieve more mention on ESPN, with their East Coast bias. More nationally televised games, and that could help develop more fans. I think it sucks for our competitiveness, but from a business stand point, I could see JR accepting cheerfully the switch. That would give us the complete sweep from Central to West Coast to Central to East Coast in my lifetime.

MLB attendance stats (road) Road Attendance Numbers: #1 Yankees 40,503 #2 Cubs 37,100 #3 Red Sox 36,228 Who would want more games with the #1 and #3 biggest draws in baseball. When they could have: #25 Cleveland #27 Detroit #30 Minnesota #31 Kansas City I should add Baltimore is #18, Tampa Bay is #24, and Toronto #26.
-
Then how does Baltimore draw all those fans? 2.5 million in 2003; 2.7 in 2002; and 2.5 year to date? Maybe Sox fans are not as loyal? Our stadium isn't as nice? The weather is better in Baltimore?

Lawyer shopping. There better be ambulances when he's in line for 755. -
Plus if God really was involved Texans would be getting their ass kicked. Did you hear that Kerry voted against hurricane relief and wants to abolish FEMA and the National Weather Service? I hear his is also against locking prisoners up.

If we cannot beat the Yankees and Red Sox and compete for a World Series, why does anyone go now?
-
Here's the question: Would attendance increase or decrease? Series vs. Twins and Tigers or Series vs. the Bo Sox and Yankees?
-
At $50 a barrel it will pay to uncap some US wells that have been shut down. Some oil is more expensive to get than others. Location, depth, quality all come into play. We'll see what impact, if any, that has. BTW, for those individuals that sold their oil and mineral rights, they usually do not see an increase when crude goes up. Same payments.

He doesn't care if there are 30,000 Yankee fans in the house.
