  1. The rest, of the story How sad, and in front of all those kids.
  2. Here's the Sun Times Link
  3. As his friend Paul Harvey says, now you know, the rest, of thye story. Interesting guy. A few great quotes. From today's Sun-Times
  4. But there is a ceratin type of people, and I'm not refering to any specific race, that teach their kids how to work hard and get ahead. Those kids watch other people get the breaks and promotions and it gets a little frustrating.
  5. If your employer said they could increase their market share by 2% if you took a 20% paycut, would you? If an employer made you an offer 20% more than what you thought, would you turn it down? Would you tell an employer, hey I'll work for this price, no need to pay me more? Give me a break. And teams don't lie? Don't use deception? Texas made an offer, A-Rod accepted. Texas made promises to continue to spend money and surround him with some players and didn't. How many other teams offered him that much? None. So whose to blame? I can never blame someone for negotiating his best deal.
  6. Colon I cannot believe the organization that was touted as having the best minor league arms just a couple years ago so far has not produced something. I say give Neal at least two more starts then bring up someone else.
  7. The same thing you should do if a friend is getting bashed for looking dorky, wearing the wrong clothes, acting like a dork, etc. Tell people to knock it off.
  8. Everyone who ever negotiated for less money from an employer ,please raise their hands.
  9. I have a very hard time voting a DH as the greatest ever. This is my argument against concept, not against Frank because IMHO Frank is the greatest batter I've ever seen, Frank's combination of power, hitting to all fields, great eye, all make him the best all around White Sox batter, hell the best on any team I ever saw in person. To be considered the greatest ever, IMHO, the person needs to play the field also. Joe looks mighty good, and Fisk deserves more mention than he is getting. Then what about guys who played only a few years for the Sox? Tom Sever deserves a mention. Just my opinion but, a DH is avoiding injuries and only playing half a game.
  10. I got split in the YNOT, and I have plenty of company wth that pick. Including Mr. SS2K4
  11. I would have applauded A-Rod. He signed a hige contract and worked his butt off for the money. Far better than the guys who sign a contract and only start producing in the "out year". THe guy flat out played every game I watched. And like Kap, the Rangers are my "home" team for baseball, but I also get a lot of Astros games.
  12. They were my exclusive pizzaria for bacon pizza.
  13. Since Admins are the only ones that know who these people are, why bother the list? Sounds like someone is playing with his new Admin powers and not liking it. So basically the admins sit around and look up IP addresses to see who they are letting in? Sounds like fun "big brother". I really dislike any hint of being exclusive. I say let anyone read, lurk, go anon, etc. I really do not care and cannot think of a reason, beside just being petty and vindictive, that anyone would care who is reading, lurking, etc. And if someone vowed to quit and wants to just come back and read, that's cool too.
  14. You are in the Pizza Delivery Hall of Fame. I hope you got a great tip. I once delivered two large in a frickin' blizzard (on my way home) and received the $1.23 change. :fyou Dikta and some players once gave me $50. So I guess it all balanced.
  15. just looking for a spot to upload a pic

    Weekend Humor

After years of married life, a man finds that he is unable to perform. He goes to his doctor and his doctor tries a few things but nothing seems to work. Finally the doctor says to him, "The reason that you can not perform is all in your mind!!!" So the doctor refers him to a psychiatrist. After a few visits to the shrink, the psychiatrist confesses, "I am at a loss as to how you could possibly be cured." So he refers him to a witch doctor. The witch doctor says, "I can cure this." He throws a white powder in a flame and there is a flash with billowing blue smoke. The witch doctor says, "This is powerful healing, but you can only use it once a year! All you have to do is say "123" and it shall rise for as long as you wish!" The guy then asks the witch doctor, "What happens when it's over and I do not want an erection any longer?" The witch doctor says, "All you or your partner has to say is "1234" and it will go down. But be warned; it will not work again for another year!" The guy goes home and that night he is ready to surprise his wife. He showers, shaves, and puts on his most exotic shaving lotion. After he gets into bed and he is lying next to her he says, "123" and suddenly he gets an enormous erection just as the witch doctor said. His wife was facing the other way and turns over and says, "What did you say "123" for?
  17. How about from a season perspective, not a day to day thing? This was partially out of a comment yesterday about a coach I don't remember that went He could take his team and beat yours, then he could take your team and beat his. That sounds like a huge difference. Would a different manager have WhiteSox v2004 2 games under .500?
  18. He plays small ball really well. When he swings for the fences, he seems to have problems. Overall, he's doing fine. He's lined up the talent to win the division, from there it's 95% the player's responsibility and maybe 4% for the manager. I'm not a big believer in luck.
  19. Nuke, Yas, you aren't far off and those same leaders have hijacked a large portion of the Dem party. But from my working with and around minorities, getting your own house in order crashes down when they are denied an apartment, denied a job and advacement. You've been screwed because of your race and along comes Sharpton, Jackson, etc. telling you it isn't you, it's because you are non-white. It's easy for me to see why these guys get so much traction. On the education front as long as we fund schools through property taxes, the rich will raise well educated kids and the poor will struggle. Highland Park, Texas required a PhD for their High School Science teachers. They literally give money to other school districts, they cannot spend it all. Los Fresnos High School's top pay for a teacher with 25+ years experience was $3,000 LOWER than Highland Park's STARTING pay for teachers. Who has the better teachers? White Highland Park, or Mexican Los Fresnos? Whose getting a better education? Truely interested in fixing public education and helping poor people succeed? Stop using home values to determine how much money a town has to spend on education.
  20. So anybody play dodgeball recently?
