How's this for a strategy? Keep finding spots for him to pad his stats and then trade him to an unsuspecting team? Oops, that's how we got him. 8 of 10 and I am happy. I think Billy will be in the upper 1/3 of closers this season based on save ratio, the only thing that really matters. Wins and loses, saves v. blown saves.

  5. I think if Florida had been a traditionally Democratic state we would be talking about Gore not W. And that scares me. Not having Gore as President, but that an election could be decided in that fashion.
  6. Imagine the gridlock in a 3 or 4 party system. That could be far worst. I blame it on the voting public. Demand more. Criticize your own party, and don't let them play the we suck less than the other guy game.
  7. Colon is 4-2 His replacements are 0-5 How big would that be in September? My point is don't judge Colon v. Estaban or Mark or Scott or John judge him against our 5th starters and as much as I am happy that Neal is getting a chance, and would greatly prefer Neal at 4-2, and on his way to $51 mil., Right now, Colon looks good to me.

  10. Looking at the American Public and their political views, if you could somehow plot them on a graph, you would have kind of a bell curve with the majority being moderate, middle of the road types. Plot the politicians over that same graph and, in a private moment, and being honest, they would mirror that. But to get elected they need a political party. To be in the party, you have to toe the party line. The parties are dividing the issues and heading all the way to the extremes so in their minds, the idiot voters, can tell the difference. There are very few McCain's in the world who are so moderate and middle of the road that they could be elected from either party. It's Coke of Pepsi all the time. A politician who likes both doesn't get far. I would love to see the public stand up and say, I do not care if you are a Rep or Dem, serve the country. I am not going to defend a mistake because you are from "my party" and I'm not going to champion a cause because it is "my party".
  11. I didn't know where to post this so I thought I would put it here REDNECK LOVE POEM Susie Lee done fell in love, She planned to marry Joe. She was so happy 'bout it all, she told her Pappy so. Pappy told her, "Susie Gal, you'll have to find another. I'd just as soon yo' maw don't know, but Joe is yo' half-brother." So Susie put aside her Joe, and planned to marry Will. But, after telling Pappy this, he said, "there's trouble still. You can't marry Will, my gal, and please don't tell yo' mother, but Will and Joe and several mo' I know is yo' half-brother." But Mama knew and said "My Child, just do what makes yo' happy. Marry Will or marry Joe, ..you ain't no kin to Pappy."
  12. musically they did cut some cool albums prior to SNF. The whole what to do with Andy hurt them.
  13. Colon or Wright, Diaz, Cotts . . . Doesn't seem like a hard question and since I'm not going to be in JR's will, I don't mind him spending the bucks.
  14. Kudos to Jester for his new Avatar and FlaSoxxJim for his Elvis Impersonator Series of Signatures
  15. Interesting debate would be if Disco made or killed the BeeGees.

Coming back from Minny even in the standings (takes 3-1) would be awesome. Let's see how the series could end 4-0 we are 2 games up 3-1 we are even 2-2 we are 2 games back 1-3 we are 4 games back I am really glad this isn't September.
  18. Hey, they also have to rearrange the furniture, if you know what I mean . . .

  20. 42 and watching cartoons Family Guy is the greatest cartoon in my lifetime. Peter breast feeding Stewie was the funniest moment I can remember on TV. I fell out of bed laughing, and even with a bump on my forehead, continued to laugh until I almost passed out.
  21. That may have been the worst movie of all time. I read where half way through they new it sucked; but couldn't find a strategy to save it. By then it was too late. I can not blame the Bee Gees for that disaster. Guilty pleasure, I watched a Bee Gees concert film from a couple years ago and dammit, I wanted to make fun, but wound up enjoying the crap out of it.

did you like the firing on all cylinders But Like Jester posted, it always seems we go in a funk after scoring 10 runs or more. I'd be hard pressed to bet we score more than 10 the rest of the series.
  23. Anyone know where to find stats to look at performances after scoring a lot of runs? It seems teams build to a big hit, big run, performance then tank for a couple games. I liken it to being in form as a track athlete. You get firing on all cylinders for a given day, set a personal record, then crash for a couple weeks. The trick is peaking at the right time. Bottom line, I will be more suprised if we score 7 today then if we score 1 or 2.
  24. What I find interesting, and has been proven by literally thousands of cover works, is so many of their songs could have been hits a dozen different ways. It would take a mad scientist to screw up Yesterday. It would take a deranged metal head to screw up Sgt. Peppers, etc.
