  1. Does anyone remember the stats that Ventura put up one month when he was player of the month. I think he had like 15 homeruns, batted .500 and capped the month with a homerun which may have been a walk off. I really enjoyed watching him play, but I only want him back to join Ozzies coaching staff.
  2. Oh, you are wondering when we had a solid 5 starters. Before my time, ask CW, it's a history question
  3. I don't want much, just the 2004 edition of
  4. Last season. It was Estaban coming out of the gate
  5. We went to Iraq to help them, give them Western style democracy, find Sadaam's WMD, etc. We did not declare war on the Iraqi people. I am having a hard time keeping some sympathy for any Iraqi people after seeing the gruesome photos of the assasination of Berg.
  6. FlaSoxxJim, Excellent points one and all. Of course our view of the world is the only right one and we must kill anyone who disagrees with that. Once the rest of the world understands that we will not have these problems. Fan, why were these pictures and videos shown? Because we can. We offer that freedom and question other countries who wonder, as you, if we have too much freedom. I do not want that treatment for American servicemen and women and believe we have to stop it when ever and where ever we see it. That begins at home. When we administer capital punishment in the US, we prefer firing squads, hangings, lethal ejections, and the electric chair. France used a guillotine, the Iraqi's used a sword. Who is to say which is most humane? The US has capital punishment, we execute foreigners who commit crimes in the US. We've even had various standards of crimes that allow for the ultimate punishment. Kill me and you may get 20 years, kill a cop and be electrocuted. Is my life wrth less? Many people claim capital punishments should be aired in the US to deter crime. The Iraqi's have shown us what that looks like.

    Wednesday's Jokes

A young man walked into a jeweler's shop late one Friday, with a beautiful young lady on his side. "I'm looking for a special ring for my girlfriend" he said. The jeweler looks through his stock, and takes out an outstanding ring priced at $5,000. "I don't think you understand ... I want something very unique", he said. At that, the jeweler went and fetched his special stock from the safe. "Here's one stunning ring at $40,000." The girls' eyes sparkled, and the young man said that he would take it. "How are you paying?" I'll pay by check, but of course the bank would want to make sure that everything is in order, so I'll write a check and you can phone the bank tomorrow. Then I'll fetch the ring on Monday". Monday morning a very pissed off jeweler phones the man. " You bastard, You lied there's no money in that account" "I know, but can you imagine what a fantastic weekend I had?"
  8. Again, I've always like Jay. I thought last year, that dispite his .500 record, that Colon was the guy I wanted pitching in a big game. I do not have the same feeling about any of our starters. I suspect that JR and KW will make some moves in June/July. I am hoping that part of the slow offseason was keeping some payroll flexibility to fill holes as they come up.
  9. I am going to limit my list to players I have seen play. Pitcher: Rocket, Nolan Ryan Slugger: Bonds Batter: Thomas RP: Eck Athlete: Ricky Henderson
  10. Minnesota is a large market like New York and Boston and can afford players. When you're team is in a small town like Chicago, you cannot. Maybe if another couple million people moed to Chicago and a few went to Sox games we could add $10,000 or $20,000 to the payroll.
  11. Yo Willie, it should be "see their wives *or* their girlfriends. At least pretend they are all behaving
  12. Gee, Cubs sold out for every game. With everyone watching there, I wonder why the media covers them more than the Sox and their 10,000 at the game.

    Jobs in Iraq

$100,000 to maybe get shot at! Wow, sign me up. This leads me to a question. While guys like Tillman receive a great deal of attention, deservingly so for their patriotism, how many guys are action junkies, that would fight for whoever is the highest bidder?

    Jobs in Iraq

I was just reading a little bit about the man in Iraq who was murdered (beheaded) by terrorists. He is a small business owner from Philadelphia, trying to make some money rebuilding the country. How does one get linked to a job like that? I cannot believe anyone would move over there and work but I guess some thrill seekers will. I just googled and found this link. Amazing
  16. Could that be after meeting you
  17. From one of the humor lists I subscribe:

    Sooo....

OK, if you say he's a nice guy, how about he gets a ND today? And watches his pen give up 10 in the 7th?
  19. Not that it in anyway excuses or justifies disrespecting corpses or murdering prisoners.
  20. So I guess you do not agree with the old adage, it is better to give than receive
  21. My understanding is that is was common knowledge inside the country. Detainees would tell their friends, etc. We just dismissed the allegations.

    Sooo....

    Hopefully by the 3rd Inning
  23. Actually we were torturing before, we just didn't believe the accounts until we saw pictures.
