I believe there is a difference between a starter and a closer and the approach they need to take.

There are exeptions. Some guys can do it with smoke and mirrors. But the majority of guys do it with some speed, not 85 mph fast balls. No intimidation factor there at all with a 85 MPH fastball; and itimidation helps relievers to be successful.

No, its the heat. To a major league hitter, having all that extra time to see the pitch, will eventually catch up to Zero. Plus remember this is a guy whose best years are behind him. He isn't a 27 year old. If the difference in speed was what really matters then why have all the top strikeout pitchers had a blazing fast ball? And you want strike outs from your closer. Nolan Ryan wasn't known for slow pitch softball and either is Rocket. You want 1-2-3 strikes your out from your closer, not in and out, fast slow, setting the guy up.

If not Koch, who are you going to call? Once Ozzie drops Koch as the closer, Koch is done for the season, I don't think OZ can revive him. So please, do not make that decision hastely, Mr. Guillen. While Marte or Zero may be a servicable closer, ride this one a while longer. It is still early. If we are complaining about Billy's speed, imagine Zero. I swear some of his pitches may not register. After a trip around the league, he may be worse than Billy. Marte isn't exactly a leave him in against righty or lefty it doesn't matter.
