It's MLB.tv without blackouts. Make MLB the primary and any local stuff secondary. Obviously anyone with a little tech skills can get around blackouts, but it shouldn't be necessary.

If you pay to stream your favorite team it shouldn't matter where you live or where the game is being played. I remember as a kid driving to Indiana to watch a Bears game because it didn't sell out. Times have changed and sports has to keep up.

At least he understands that a sizable number of fans have cut the cable and stream. It seems more like he wants to have the MLB national contract supercede any local deals. Which makes sense in a modern world.

The Oilers changed names. The North Stars altered their name. Nightmare scenario A group buys the team and moves it to Nashville. Immediately MLB announces an expansion team for Chicago with an ownership group led by JR. Who do you cheer for and death isn't an option?

The As have gone coast to coast with the name. Cardinals, Raiders, even the Utah Jazz have all kept their names.

Take what they say as seriously as any other advertising. We thought it was New Sox but it was Sox Classic.

So Getz put together a much better group and it was mismanaged by Pedro resulting in 50% less wins? That's a lot of screwing up by one man that other men couldn't overcome. I hope you are correct. Then the organization is in much better shape than I'm thinking.

I'm not sold on any manager, for any team, being worth 20 wins. I'm also not sold on our next manager having significant impact on player development. The rest of the organization will have their thumbprint all over whose on the roster and how much they play. We will get someone with little (Grady) or no MLB managing experience. They will be learning on the job and "growing" with the team. They will also be fired to appease the fans after two or three seasons. With little experience, and tiny pay, they are vulnerable and will do whatever Getz and Co. "suggest" to them. The coaching staff, of which they will have little or no say in the hiring will have a greater impact. For better (hopefully) or worse (likely) this will be Getz's fantasy team playing for real.

It's not what they can afford, it's the total jobs they bring and how much that economic development is worth to the area they move to.

Every major business is looking for, and receiving something, for relocating. Just look at the bidding for Amazon and Tesla locations. I think most of us agree that it's easier to justify public dollars going to Amazon or Tesla.
