  1. I agree it should be the goal. How are you balancing the fact they are playing in a tough division? If they win ten games and miss the playoffs, is that satisfactory? I'm not certain
  2. JR would have went with Ron Rivera.
  3. He's a rookie head coach. He'll make some mistakes. But two years in a row they have landed #1 picks who are potentially franchise changing. A player and now a HC.
  4. While I'm really happy with the choice, I am not giving the organization much credit for vision, or football IQs. I think they just hired the guy that will sell some tickets.
  5. When is "Mathematically Eliminated" night?
  6. She's dead, wrapped in plastic.

  8. Collusion would be an arrangement between the Sox and sending team to give back the player at the deadline. Now that would be interesting. We'll send you John Doe for a player to be named later who wow! Is John Doe.
  9. I think it would be slightly more possible in the NBA where a single player could make a bigger impact. But also less likely for the same reason. It's actually a weirdly interesting concept. I'm also thinking if I'm an East Coast or West Coast team every game against the Central becomes much more important.

For the first time in a decade or so I'm getting home delivery of an actual newspaper. I forgot how much I enjoy the Sunday NY Times. Digital just isn't the same experience.
  11. I'm sure within ten years they all will be. Let's not be the last team.
  12. I do think a NFL head coach needs to be proficient in all of the tools available. I think if you have one that is so far behind the times they can't handle a zoom interview you are starting too far behind the curve. The Knute Rockne era is long gone. The next coach should be proficient in data analysis, advanced statistical analysis, and use every edge tech can offer. If be more worried if the team was using a 1990s style business model of flying everyone in and meeting in person. It's a step into the 21st century.
  13. Because they work year round but aren't in season for much of it. If they can't master the simple technology would you trust them to know advanced technology?
  14. Plan A - play the future. Give the young guys every chance to go from survival mode to contributing at the MLB level while at the MLB level with cheap veterans watching from the dugout. Plan B - have those cheap guys with MLB experience step in and be the crash test dummies if the kids need more off time or reps at the MiLB level. Or is Getz just trying to master his domain?
  15. Silly me, my first thought was we signed all these catchers on the cheap so it's really not a problem cutting a couple later. Then I remembered it's JR's team. He probably rations toilet paper in the locker room.
  16. That's an old bowling tradition.
  17. That seemed kind of weird to me. I never would have thought a player would ask an opponent for a jersey. But the main comment is right. I have a few friends that played pro sports. Whenever they made comments about not being good enough I remind them they signed the back of checks to be at the game.
  18. I wonder when Wiki will update the notable alumni page of South Hills High School? Notable alumni [edit] Jacob Amaya, professional baseball shortstop for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball. Jeff Cox – Major League Baseball player/coach David Denson – baseball player[6] Deorro - American DJ and Producer Ty France – Major League Baseball player Jason Giambi – Major League Baseball player Jeremy Giambi – Major League Baseball player Derek Klena – Broadway actor and singer Tommy Lee - Drummer of Mötley Crüe Cory Lidle – Major League Baseball player Chris Limahelu – USC football player[7] Milt McColl – National Football League player Mitrice Richardson – dancer Matthew Rogers – American Idol finalist, 2004 season Aaron Small – Major League Baseball player Shawn Wooten – Major League Baseball player, minor-league manager
  19. First test, can the coach communicate in the 21st century? I like it.
  20. You need to trademark that phrase.
  21. https://sports.yahoo.com/bucs-got-mike-evans-3-213310733.html I didn't see any Chicago team owners putting up with this.
  22. "Chicago sports history" I would toss in the world series win in his positive column. A few Cub owners never accomplished that. But there are obviously a lot of negatives. And again from my original post, in twenty or thirty years the folks that are the most passionate now will be dead or not nearly as smart about baseball as they are now.
  23. https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/news/lions-called-league-office-vikings-ticket-purchase Vikings buy up a 1,000 tickets and sell them at a discount to their season ticket holders, many of which flipped them back to brokers for a profit lol Lions contacted the league office.
  24. I was thinking of both team's first seasons when they were fielding rosters that weren't fully recruited while the team was playing in the SEC. You are correct y'all have been bad recently. Is that because the SEC is a stronger conference than the rest? Would they have a better record playing in the Big 10? I don't think so.
  25. Seeing how well Texas and Texas A&M have done in the SEC is another factor to consider. Both programs quickly established their ability to complete, which makes me believe the SEC historically wasn't easy better than other conferences, probably not even 5% better. If they were the best, it wasn't by much. Will conferences even be a thing down the road. I think they lose relevance once they get so big that a round robin schedule is impossible.
