New White Sox social media manager or strategy?
Texsox replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And perhaps the inverse is also true. You can't be a Sox fan and give a f***. -

I think it's awesome. -

This is such an important part of their marketing and connecting with fans I hope they promote that guy and give him a raise. -
Sox hire David Keller from NYM to run int'l scouting

Another box from Acme. JR is determined to catch that roadrunner. If we didn't have fifty years of things turning to s%*# I'd be encouraged by this. -
Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
Texsox replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The past couple years were the first that I didn't plan my Chicago trips until after consulting the schedule. It's also the first time in decades no one in my family has full season tickets. -
If this organization had a history of actually developing players instead of ruining them I could believe that they analyzed the players, set certain milestones in development, all to avoid rushing the player into the majors before they were ready and hurting their development. But we know that's not us. So once again they did the exact wrong thing. I think we can assume the guys were ready and we lost an opportunity to get these guys experience during a throw away year.

Yet here we are. Still paying attention. -
He finished the line silently to himself . . . "fifty games a year"

The most ironic moment of the past few years, Liam came to the Sox, in part, to play for TLR. So there are some outliers. Why would others? Other organizations frown on domestic violence. You haven't played in the US for a few seasons. Any stats from this century prove you aren't very good.

. . . like they should be 😂 I also expect him to talk up the players on the roster, speak of the future, etc.. We know it's fake, but it's good practice. Way better than "hey this roster sucks and if we win 45 I should be manager of the year". The manager we want won't take the job, and we won't like anyone that will take the job.

The Athletic: Must Read article on Jerry Reinsdorf/White Sox

I'm not thinking changing livelihood, how about changing teams? I believe many of us here have switched companies while staying in the same industry. It could be that baseball is harder to do that in. You get on with one team and are stuck there until they fire you. -
Obviously other things are more important as I mentioned. But as you noted, it's either luck or toxic environment. I lean towards toxic environment. The likelihood of someone bringing a toxic environment vibe with them seems more likely from someone coming from a losing environment. Again, plenty of other factors to consider. But keep bringing in everyone from managers to players from losing organizations doesn't seem to be working.
-
Would you say "expecting to lose" is a toxic environment? While I don't value it over most other stats, it seems like winning is a cultural thing and players coming from winning programs bring "luck".

And there's sending out your resume and finding another job before that happens. In most industries it's easier to get a job when you have a job. Maybe baseball is different? -
I don't believe anyone thought he was *the* problem. He was *a* problem and easy enough to remove.
-
It didn't work out for the team. It didn't work out for him. Best of luck in the future. Perhaps the Savannah Bananas need a manager for the visitors?
-
Perhaps for some fans. I think many of the million plus that will go to games just want some entertainment value for their money. They aren't really as invested in the past or the future as are folks here.
-
It seems crazy to think they could be worse. Yet, it's totally possible. If today there was an over under at 45 wins, I'm not certain which way I would go.

I agree. If it's a bad deal for the taxpayer it's probably a bad deal for private investors. As much as I'd like to see the fans and players in a new park, I just can't see Illinois being in a position to gift a stadium.

True. I wonder why any of them stayed long enough to get fired? Isn't it odd that people voluntarily stay? -
I wonder if the number to approve a move is the same as the number to approve to expand? Simple majority? Super majority? It would be interesting if a small group of owners could wag the dog in that regard.
-
The As have moved about three or four times. I wonder if anyone has tracked how those moves affected the rest of the league? Another consideration. Would Illinois and the city have more political capital to spend on a new stadium for a post Sox move expansion franchise? Wouldn't that be a kick in JRs balls? He moves and the state builds a new stadium for the new team. I almost like that scenario. I prefer the JR sells and immediately after the deal closes a new stadium is announced scenario.
-
I'm shocked the Sox attendance has been as great as it is. I would hope the other owners would consider attendance versus how bad the experience is and protect the Chicago fans.
-
I'm thinking 2028 or so and on. Multiple years of bottom five attendance (justifiably so and self induced), and no give away the bank from a cash strapped state. 50-50 seems fair.
