  1. Lol It would be just like JR to buy a 737 MAX on a steep discount. Here you go guys, barely used. Who can pass on a great deal?
  2. Or more to my point, I don't want to hear him complain about his playing time, either too much or too little. If he wants to apologize, that would be a bonus.
  3. And Esteban Loaiza. It seemed like there were a few more that he worked some magic on. Besides presumably generally below average coaching, when the GM constantly dumpster dives hoping for turnarounds and miracles you'll be eating a lot of garbage as the coach. @southsider2k5 mentioned in another thread that we have developed some lefty starters. That could be the player's talent exceed our ability to hold them back.
  4. No. And I think they probably have an older plane than most teams. I think they need to have something better than average in every area. I also believe the Airbus is a nice plane with doors that stay on. But that's beside my main point: I'm just not interested in anyone involved in the worst season in baseball history to open their mouth to say anything but apologize to the fans.
  5. Has he ever publicly discussed his reasons? I know it's tough to leave a place you put down roots, and the Chicagoland area is a great place to live and raise a family. And to piggyback on a post prior, I want to hear apologies from this organization not excuses and whining. I'm not apologizing to anyone past or recently present in the organization.
  6. He didn't quit and we didn't quit. He's gone and we're still here.
  7. Exactly. Sox fans have always supported the team when it's worth supporting.
  8. Fun time today in the heat. Seven freshman playing their first tournament. Nice clean hats, no sweat stains on the uniforms yet. Their excitement is contagious. We have three JV tournaments next week. Hopefully we won't be touching 100 degrees like today. I sometimes can't believe how lucky I am to share my love of the game with these kids.
  9. I object to the worst owner and worst team in history whining about anything. I have no problem with upgrading the plane to be competitive in the free agent market. Some team had to have the worst plane and I would prefer it not be the Sox. JR should latch onto this. They are playing in an antiquated stadium, the sixth oldest in baseball. Time to upgrade. Point out how out of date the facility is for the players. Get a few players to complain to the media. If the difference between the Airbus and Boeing private charters is that important imagine what a new stadium (where they spend even more time in) would be.
  10. And I'm certain they are nice guys. Whining about the charter jet while giving the fans 120 losses is annoying to me. How about winning some games, get fans back in the ballpark, then upgrade the jet?
  11. These guys should be riding a bus for some AAA club or out of the game.
  12. I did for years as a VP of Sales. Just about every week. Out on Tuesday back on Friday.
  13. f*** these guys if they can't play because they don't like the charter plane. Fly fucking commercial. Sorry if they aren't pampered enough. How about win 63 games and we'll upgrade?
  14. If they are going to play our future I want to see some wins and help with their development.
  15. I just want the comedy factor of him limping off the field.
  16. In 1998 if the Sox hired DePodesta instead of the As, I would have thought JR was full of crap and trying to sell us cheap ass players. I don't want innovation, I want things to stay the same. f*** JR for trying to fix the front office and take it in a new direction. The front office doesn't play. The front office is fine and has been for decades now. Just give them a $200 million payroll for next year and all will be fine. Well, maybe this might be a small step in a slightly better direction. I'll leave open the possibility it might help in ways we'll never know.
  17. We either rush them to the majors or we stunt them by not having them play every day.

    First Move

It may be the only feasible way to keep wins to under 35. Random chance with a similar payroll could accidentally create a 40 win team, thus showing improvement. My hunch is the next manger isn't someone who will weigh in too much on free agent signings. This will be his first managerial job. They might as well jump on some guys early to at least start some framework.
  19. The Cubs have more wins against AL teams than the Sox
  20. Put young players in positions they can have success with good matchups and let The vets take the lumps.
  21. It didn't seem like anyone had the appetite, or felt the need, to make a big move. I doubt that Getz had many offers and they were probably easy to pass on. Hopefully the off season will be better.
  22. Getz was trading for the future. Even what turns out to be the absolute greatest trade of all time would look bad in the short term.
