And he isn't into wasting his personal time on the likes of us

Please tell me that should have been in green . . .

From Pasttime RE: Slonerko getting hit by a pitch in ST He got hit in the left elbow by a Jason Grilli pitch and left for the trainer's room in considerable pain. He came back out and charged the mound. He'll be getting there around 4 pm.

Last season I saw a three or four year dynasty starting. This year I see us taking a step back while the Royals move ahead and the Twins look about the same. As positive as I was last season, is how negative I am this season. What have we really done this off season? Replaced JM with an unproven Manager (I like the move, but at best put it in the ?? category) Brought in a Japanese reliever who again is a ?? Lost Colon who was solid down the stretch Aged one year at DH and SS Lost our second half 2nd baseman and CF Last a good reliever in Flash Aged one year from behind the plate and down the 3rd base line!! Lee, Crede, and Olivo that is probably the best thing that happened this off season. I think at least two, if not all three, will have break out years. But on a balance, our only hope is that we underachieved last year and can over achieve this year. But with 38 days until opening day, I am not feeling alright. :headshake :headshake :headshake

I am so damn happy for him

Oh God, I am so excited. I can't wait for the season to begin. It's Billy Botch until he proves otherwise This actually could be better than last year. I'm still holding my breath on Mr. Koch.

I never saw Bonds in person

The issue was timing. Frank was ON STRIKE at that moment as a union employee, with HIS union urging the other unions to not cross their picket line, and Frank goes and hires non union labor. Silly in a union town. Especially silly when I would guess the Sox are more popular with the rank and file union members than the Cubs. As a batter, he is the best I've ever seen in person circa 1995. As a help to compete with the other team in Chicago, as an ambassador for baseball,a nd all the other intangeables he rates very low. Could that be why his check is a bit lower? God this was years ago, I should not have even brought it up.

Not exactly. He is paid for everything he brings to the team. Look how some teams were fawning over Maddux. "Thinker, can help the other pitchers, he's a winner, etc." He is paid for everything he does. Some things increase his pay (hitting) some things decrease his pay.

And let's dust off this idea. With Zero in house, maybe Koch could be reborn

Then later in the off season

Here's what we thought at the end of last season

Allow me a couple bashes: His PR skills suck. As often as not, he's unhappy about something. Salary and dimished skills? It's the f***ing contract you signed Frank. Why do some people bash A-Rod and the Rangers for "not lying in the bed they made" and rush to Frank's defense? Baseball goes out on strike, Frank talks about how important the union is and during the strike, he builds his house with non union labor. I'm not a big union guy, but it is another PR error. Postseason batting average: .000 in 2000. That's correct. ZERO, Zip, Nada, Nothing. 0-9. IN the mid 90's he was the greatest overall batter I ever saw in person. I say batter because he is more than a hitter. He could work a pitcher. When I think of Frank, as often as not, I picture him dropping his bat and jogging to first on ball four. I have never considered him the club house leader. If his clubhouse and off field skills were 1/2 as good as his batting skills, he would be a perenniel All-Star instead of zero appearences in the past 6 years.

I'm sorry was this article from 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, or a projection for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 . . .? Frank, shut the f*** up. No matter why, how, what you say, it always comes out bad. He has to have the worse PR skills of anyone.

Gee baseball promoting a team that has a legit chance at the WS, who would have thought. The best teams always get the press. I'm seeing and hearing Cubs stuff down here, mostly along the lines of can Houston beat them this year? I wonder why no one outside Chicago cares if the Sox are going to finish 2 or 3rd. It's a nightmare and getting worse.

They let him in?

But you can't use one to justify the other. Which is better, volunteering as a coach for a baseball league or selling weed?

Baseball, near the dugout. Close enough to hear Basketball, center court 1/2 way up or lower Hockey, all over. Sometime up high to watch plays develope, sometimes down low to feel and hear the hits. Football, in front of my tv Wrestling, who the hell goes to wrestling just kidding. everywhere is good. Boxing, In front of my tv

I am sorry to be so pessimistic but I see the biggest nightmare season in White Sox history. We'll hang around for most of the summer before fading to 2nd or 3rd while the fricking ScRubs are having a magical mystery tour over on the north side, probably returning to the LCS or even the (I cringe at typing this) the WS. It's a fricking nightmare. At least, unlike last year, the Sox can only surprise me. Last year I went flying into the season and crashed and burned. I am expecting this to be a nightmare. Anything will be better.

Pain and misery fill the air people running everywhere . . . Colon gone and replaced by ??? We need not one, but two break out guys this year. Mark and E-Lo will combine for the same number of wins. E-Lo goes down, Mark goes up and it washes. Hopefully someone can just match a .500 record of Colon.

But Steff, when you get in the mood, are you thinking of just getting to second base or rounding all the bases? Barry White can make reading the instruction manual for a desk sound sexy.

this is what happens when we stop using common sense and legislating everything. Teachers have had their responsibilities taken away and replaced by this. It is soft porn, not a sports magazine. BTW, cool I get to log in from psy course.

Actually, Fanof14 has provided a couple nice opportinities and we found some mimes to make fun of; and like flasoxxjim says, who doesn't want to maim mimes? It has been a bit quieter around here during the day time.
