  1. How do you pronounce BEGOOD? Does it sound like a Monty Pythin skit? Does it rhyme with Pam or Ham? Can you get it in a can? Sorry BEGOOD, I couldn't help myself.

Man, it is by far my all time favorite animated series and in my top 10 comedies But In the back of my mind I am thinking why not do something even better. Put the team together and keep innovating. Why stop here?
  3. He's a poser. The original and still #1
  4. collapse last year? What collapse last year? :fthecubs
  5. I absolutely refuse to get excited. I'm not even going to watch the first televised game from ST on March 13 vs. the Cubs; I just can't look
  6. You do have point there. They did not do so well in the favored role last year. I'm starting to be optimistic and dammit, I did not want to do that. The opening weekend sucked the life out of me last year, I was so pumped up. A brief recap KANSAS CITY 3, CHI WHITE SOX 0 KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Tony Pena may have found a new way to set his rotation. Runelvys Hernandez , who won a coin toss to earn the Opening Day nod, tossed the best game of his brief career, combining with two relievers on a three-hitter as the Kansas City Royals posted a 3-0 triumph over the Chicago White Sox . The 24-year-old righthander allowed just a single, a double and a walk in six innings. He struck out five and threw 55 of 77 pitches for strikes. KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals are off to a sizzling start, at least by their standards. Joe Randa hit a two-run homer off Rick White in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Royals opened a season with back-to-back wins for the first time in 24 years with a 5-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox . Rookie Angel Berroa reached on a throwing error by shortstop Tony Graffanino before Randa belted an 0-1 pitch from Rick White (0-1) over the center field fence to break a 3-3 tie. The Royals, who blanked the White Sox , 3-0, on Monday, are off to their best start since winning their first three games in 1979. And who can forget Billy Botches :fyou effort here KANSAS CITY 12, CHI WHITE SOX 6 KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Royals have opened a season with three straight wins for the first time since the days of Amos Otis and Pete LaCock . Brent Mayne matched career highs with four hits and four RBI as the Royals rallied for a 12-6 triumph over the Chicago White Sox . Kansas City is 3-0 for the first time since 1979 and just the fourth time in franchise history. "We've been talking about that (starting fast)," Royals manager Tony Pena said. "I believe it is very important since we are a young team. In spring training, we played so well (19-10, the best mark in the majors), it was important to carry over the momentum from spring training and that's what we're doing right now." The Royals were trailing, 6-5, entering the bottom of the eighth inning when Ken Harvey 's go-ahead two-run single ignited a two-out, seven-run rally. On the next pitch following Harvey's single, Mayne belted a three-run shot to left off closer Billy Koch - who pitched to six batters in the eighth without recording an out.
  7. Kong went on to say "in 2002 I batted over .300 and I noticed the opposing pitchers were sad and then got mad at me. When we were on the road, they wouldn't invite me out for a drink. Finally, last season when I was flirting with the Mendoza line, they liked me again. They bought me nice gifts and smiled when they saw me come up to bat. I liked that. It's nice to make people smile isn't it?
  8. We're #18! I'm drinking my White Sox kool-aid. Wow. Yeah! Anything can happen in a 162 game season. Hell 8 teams make the playoffs, we're practically there. This is the best team we've had in years and years. :begood
  9. The manufacturing jobs are dying both from overseas competition and technology. Save jobs, let's all throw away our computers because it eliminated secretaries. Let's go back to albums and save the vinyl record industry. Put away the automobiles and save the buggy whip manufacturer. We could stop companies from trying to produce products for less money. Do we want to go back to $2,000 basic computers? $1,000 cell phones? So we save manufacturing jobs in the US and pay 2X what the rest of the world pays for the same item? How does that help our economy? If we could roll back the clock, would we be better if we saved Zenith by putting a tariff on TVs so we all pay $400 for a 27" color set while the rest of the world is paying $200? Would we be better off if we built computers in the US at double the price while the rest of the world leap frogged us? NAFTA has increased jobs in some corners of the US. The largest Japanese Chamber of Commerce outside Japan is 10 miles from me. Japan could not compete with NAFTA so hundreds of Japanese companies have moved throught the NAFTA countries. Michigan (and other states) have been offering tax incentives for companies to move there. How does that help the people in Ohio who lose their jobs when a factory moves to take advantage of those incentives?
  10. I'll take back the jab at Republicans but I stand by my comment that if it was a homeless person instead of a dog, the reaction would be different. If a dog sits there and looks starving, dirty, etc. we feel pity and someone will toss him some food. Same look from a human being, and most people will walk on by. 2 for the price of 1 Presidents get too much blame and too much credit for the economy.
  11. Oh yeah, let's put some ugly guy out front.
  12. Awesome What a perfect way for Sox fans to crash the party. I am laughing my ass off that they couldn't come up with something original and had to borrow from us. I personally think it was perfect. My guess is a Sox fan had something to do with it. To me it would be like playing the Wisconsin fight song at a NU rally.
  13. And if we get to the playoffs we'll kick the Bo Sox or the Yankees or whoever? I'm tired of half ass attempts by this organization. They didn't try very hard to replace Colon, didn't find us a lead off guy. This is the exact opposite of last season. Then mid way through we'll hear JR whining about no one coming out to the games.
  14. Exactly. Does anyone else remember the blown save by Koch and the opening series against the Royals? Sorry, if the Sox had done anything during the off season besides letting a couple players go, I'd be optimistic. We lost key pieces of a 2nd place team and expect to win?!
  15. But I still vote democratic
  16. What is really sad is if it was homeless guy, people would honk and flip the f***er off for slowing down traffic. Especially in Republican neighborhoods

If, IF, If if ifs were skiffs we'd have the biggest navy in baseball. If Koch blows a couple saves early in this season we better cut our losses quick and give him a nice assignment in the minors somewhere. If he comes back in form we take a giant leap forward to winning the division.
  18. They are crossed.
  19. And he isn't into wasting his personal time on the likes of us
  20. Please tell me that should have been in green . . .

From Pasttime RE: Slonerko getting hit by a pitch in ST He got hit in the left elbow by a Jason Grilli pitch and left for the trainer's room in considerable pain. He came back out and charged the mound. He'll be getting there around 4 pm.
  22. Last season I saw a three or four year dynasty starting. This year I see us taking a step back while the Royals move ahead and the Twins look about the same. As positive as I was last season, is how negative I am this season. What have we really done this off season? Replaced JM with an unproven Manager (I like the move, but at best put it in the ?? category) Brought in a Japanese reliever who again is a ?? Lost Colon who was solid down the stretch Aged one year at DH and SS Lost our second half 2nd baseman and CF Last a good reliever in Flash Aged one year from behind the plate and down the 3rd base line!! Lee, Crede, and Olivo that is probably the best thing that happened this off season. I think at least two, if not all three, will have break out years. But on a balance, our only hope is that we underachieved last year and can over achieve this year. But with 38 days until opening day, I am not feeling alright. :headshake :headshake :headshake
  23. I am so damn happy for him
  24. Texsox replied to Butter Parque's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Oh God, I am so excited. I can't wait for the season to begin. It's Billy Botch until he proves otherwise This actually could be better than last year. I'm still holding my breath on Mr. Koch.
