  1. BeGood, MAYBE every once in a while, properly done, it would be nice to see an all cap kick off. Or soon we will have a Teddy Patalak on our hands. Obscure reference.

I believe this assertion should be verified, for the integrity of soxtalk. You'll need to send photos

    I feel the love . . .
  4. Then would you be against a draft? After all in times of war, it is in our best interest to have a full military. As far a public transportation; would it be wrong to shut off sections of a city to private vehicles to help eliminate air pollutions? Mexico City uses a system where based on your license plate number you can drive on certain days and not others.

    More idiots...

And all of these people are in the gene pool
  6. This could be a very significant year in Sox baseball. Lee, Crede, and Olivo are on the rise, Mark and Kong need to regain some career momentum, Frank needs to hang on. Maggs just needs to keep doing his thing. At the mid season point we are going to have a tough decision. If we are in the race, we will be buying. If we are out of the race, we could be in a situation for a big sale with some very good trade bait. If we are not winning we will see a huge turnover of personnel and a few years of crappy teams. I could easily see any of the following gone: Frank, E-Lo, Kong, Koch, and a couple others.
  7. In four months we will be either buying or selling. If we are 8 games out, hell the Yankees may be talking about Mark or E-Lo.
  8. Hmm, would we rather have Marge and a WS victory or JR and a pack of promises?
  9. One issue that is central to this debate is Does our government have the duty to legislate things for our own good? For example increasing the mpg on vehicles reduces our reliance on foreign oil. Many people will agree this is a good thing and in our collective, national best interest. Even though we individually agree that reducing our reliance on foreign oil is good, many Americans believe * you * should drive the small, lightweight, fuel efficient car and I'll drive a Hummer. So left to market conditions, we would not see an increase in over all fuel efficiency. Consumers also would not spend more for fuel efficiency. So by legislating this, the government is telling all Americans you cannot be trusted to do the right thing, we need to do the right thing for you. Is that correct?

Some people have built up a lot of credibility here. They earn that credibility by their posts through the months, and now we can say years. This isn't a government supported forum for free speech. It is owned and continually paid for, by private individuals. (not me) They can establish any rules they like for membership. So far they have been very loose on allowing board members to speak their minds. They have accepted personal attacks and moved on. Some people have been banned, others suspended for their behavior. Other times they have watched as friends and good posters have moved on when things did not go their way. As a moderator, I try and seperate useful debate and disagreement from personal attacks. I do not want to stop a debate that is moving forward and staying civil. I will and have locked threads that have dropped to name calling with the only goal of making another member here look bad. Those are personal issues that can be solved or not, away from the boards.
  11. Too many what ifs. I am glad you recognize the premise that Al would have managed it better I think the auto mpg might be good. Would someone like to summarize why government mandates are a good thing in this arena? Anyone care to summarize why government mandates are not a good thing?

    Mid Term Updates

Switching decades and Universities has me going back to redo a few requirements that either have been added (computers, higher level math, history, bio 2) or moved from Fresh-Soph level to Jr.-Sr. level (Abnormal Psy, Theories of Personality) So I'm going to wind up with about 150 hours for a BA in Psy. I'm just going one semester at a time. I guess by waiting this long, histpry should be easy. I'll remember some of it from when it happened.
  13. I am a very active Boy Scout leader on the unit and District level. I also collect Boy Scout memorabilia. I also am an almost full time college student I spend too much time here And I find time for a career.

    Mid Term Updates

For many of us college students, it's about mid term. How's it going? American Autobiographical Lit. I just got back paper 1 of 3 (30%) of grade and scored a 240/250. Prof said nobody ever gets a 100%. Research Methods in Psy is my most interesting class. One test so far and I received a high A. Missed the same question as a multiple choice and short answer definition. Damn internal validity. All would be well it wasn't for Algebra. I do not have proof, but I believe that alchohol first attacks the math cells. I have lost my ability to perform basic math functions. I am shooting for a C and will never darken that end of campus again. I'm in trouble when I go to my High School son and ask for help.
  16. We can pick up a topic later, something not to emotionally charged. Perhaps a couple people on each side, taking turns, being civilized. We could set up some guidelines. How about government mandates on automobile MPG standards? Statehood for Washington D.C.? Minimum wage? ??
  17. I just wish E-Lo could be the next E-Lo
  18. Dam Dam Dam I am getting excited. Must remember KC sweep, must remember Minny series, must remember we signed almost no one,
  19. Keeping track, so far at least, we are ahead of last year in the managerial department. Will that overcome losing a key starter and make up the 4 games we needed last season? Maybe. I wonder if the players are as excited as the fans about the switch to Oz . . .
  20. Big f***ing deal. So you are having a birthday. Is everyone suppose to kiss your ass and wish you a happy fricking birthday?! OK. Then let me add mine And a Cake
  21. William Tremmel filed a lawsuit in September against a company repairing the boardwalk at Virginia Beach, Va., after he used its portable toilet without permission; some of the workers, fed up with strangers using their facility, blocked Tremmel inside for 25 minutes before letting him out, for which "mental suffering" he now wants $100,000. [Palm Beach Post, 1-28-04] [Newsday, 2-4-04] [Virginian-Pilot, 9-27-03] And in October, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District revealed, in a request for more funding, that it was paying a man about $460 a day to scoop used condoms from the chlorine tanks at its Jones Island plant. Haiti

Yeah! Another place to send our soldiers; where there is armed conflict to worry about. Let's all back the president in his re-election bid and support our Troops. Nothing like sending Troops into danger to help the sagging polls. Sorry, but I cannot get worked up over Haiti to the point where I think they need US Troops. Hey, it's a small country, let someone else handle this problem. Then again, it probably isn't that dangerous, the French are sending troops.
  23. "honey we have a lot of catching up to do. Here are pictures of the wake and funeral we had for you . . ." Somehow I think the dad was in on it also. I hope they find the kidnapper.
