If they killed everyone in the capital that day, do you believe Trump would be president two weeks from now or would Biden?
  2. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
In less than two weeks Biden will be president. Dems will control both houses. We will survive this. How many Americans do you believe will support a deadly takeover of the government? Will the military just get in line and follow Trump? But OK, how close are we to eliminating our government? If these terrorists had been successful and killed everyone in the capital that day, would Trump be President in two weeks?
  3. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
And we survived. Are you suggesting that next time they might be successful in subverting election results? How do you see a violent mob like that being successful?
  4. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
I grasp it. It was close to being one of the biggest acts of terror on our soil. Would it have been worse than the Oklahoma City Bombing? We survived that. But perhaps because those 168 souls were just federal employees and children, it wouldn't have been as bad? In less than two weeks Biden will be President. The Dems will control both houses. I'm very optimistic about our future.

What if instead of five people dying they planted a bomb and 168 people died in a right wing anti government attack? That was Oklahoma City when domestic terrorists attacked a federal building. Are those federal workers somehow worth less than elected officials? And it has continued. It continued from president to president. We've been facing this crisis for a very long time and sadly we will continue to face this crisis. Anti government types have been around since the government was founded. Each time we battled back.

LOL. How close did they actually come to overthrowing anything? How many Americans supported their actions? The country hasn't lost our collective minds. But hey, build that backyard bunker and start stockpiling guns and ammo, I guess your going to need it when millions of American fascists mount a takeover attempt. LMAO that you think they were anywhere close to overthrowing the government. You need to stop watching reruns of Designated Survivor. Greg would be so proud of y'all. Folks labeled him crazy when he made these same predictions.

Great analogy. So how many Americans are agreeing with our modern day "Nazis"? How many Americans do you believe will act and continue this? A million? Ten million? All 70,000,000 Trump voters? We'll survive, but if you are worried what weapons do you own? How are you planning on protecting yourself?
  8. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
Liberals are going to destroy America and turn us into a socialist state!! Fascist conservatives are going to overthrow the government!! I believe we'll be fine and we'll survive this crisis just fine. You think perhaps a civil war? Massive uprisings across America involving millions of people? Are you fearing those 70,000,000 Trump voters against the 75,000,000 Biden voters?
  9. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
People were fighting for what they believe in and what they believe is best for America. Other Americans believed the opposite. We survived just fine.

I realize that. There were many more protestors in Chicago and the anti war protests continued all across America. Also, today we have far left leaning protesters who want to defund the police leaving Americans defenseless from the far right.
  11. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
We've had liberal protestors attack police. Liberal protestors tried to stop the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and attacked the police. What did Democratic elected officials do? How many resigned? How many were held accountable as you suggest? I have faith in America and Americans. This part of our society has been always been with us. Those 70,000,000 Americans who voted for the Republican candidate aren't going away or suddenly deciding that a more liberal policy is the way to go. We've survived violent protests before and we will survive again. Despite the hyperbole one violent act isn't bringing down our democracy.

I believe we saw many moderates and leaders within the GOP step up. I believe that fringe element within the party will be drowned out, much like the extreme liberals become a side thought.

I remember a commentator claiming that firsts don't happen back to back. We wouldn't go from first black president to first female. I thought the comment was wrong at the time, but maybe it wasn't that far off. An old white guy after Obama may have had a better chance.
  14. So we're rapidly removing unproductive members of the population. That's got to be good for the overall economy. Their wealth gets redistributed making those who recieved it in better shape.

Rick Perry was close. With partisan politics the norm, I can't think of anyone. The political parties force everyone to the party platform.

  17. Here's a crazy idea. Parity is easy. Make every player an employee of the league and assign them to teams each year. Reset rosters every year and it won't matter who the owners are or their resources. In fact, why should each team have an owner? Merge all the teams into one corporate entity. It's all a travelling road show.

Who are you including in your definition of the party? The 70,000,000 people who voted for Trump?
  19. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
70,000,000 Americans voted for him and in various amounts agree with the protestors, (but probably not the actions). I'll take a guess and say 60,000,000 will never ever vote for a Democrat for president. I'm hoping some moderate within the party can gain traction and build a base that pushes Cruz and his cult to fringes where they belong. The GOP is facing a serious crisis. Or, perhaps a socially liberal, fiscally conservative, party can gain ground. I'd look seriously at that.

The difference that is in his favor is its probably not a friend or family member convincing you to buy a Cross Fit franchise. I find the most anti MLM people are the ones that tried and failed. I've known a few folks that earned a decent income as a side hustle and one that made it a life long job. Twenty plus years and a nice living. Pampered Chef, World Travel, Prepaid Legal Services, Cutco, and others generate a lot of income with their products and services. But it's very hard work to make it a full time gig and to generate the income that is projected. Most will fail. But they will fail with a few hundred dollar loss and a closet full of cooking gear or an overpriced off season vacation memory instead of bankruptcy and collections after trying to own a restaurant or other business. I did Pre Paid Legal Services for a couple years. They allowed you to sell your business which I did and the person I sold it to, an insurance salesperson, was doing really well at it last I heard. I love sales, it was my full time job, and I had the exact contacts and skill set to be successful with that MLM. I also didn't try to recruit someone I knew didn't have a skill set to be successful. More because I didn't have the time or desire to train them in sales than any fiduciary or ethical high ground. Often times I saw someone who has a spotty work record who can't keep a job think this is the answer. Be your own boss. Then they discover when you have your own business every customer is your boss and if they fire you, your business fails.

The success rate is exactly why they are so widely disliked. Anyone can buy in. No one is vetted or denied the opportunity of they can make the investment. Too many people believe sales is easy. Jack, you want to be protected from investing in something that you will not be successful in. Just because you will fail in MLM doesn't mean others will or it's a scam.
  22. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
One of my former employees and White Sox fan has built a career in MLM. I argue with him that's it's not really like owning your own company and that 95% of the people he recruits will lose money. He replies that they will get discounted travel and an opportunity. I reply if we were back in our previous roles how many of the hundreds he directly recruited or the thousands that they recruited would he have hired and paid a salary to. The answer is not many. Every organization looks like a pyramid. There are more salespeople than CEOs. More VPs than middle managers. The reason they are legal is they aren't predatory. If you want the opportunity you can buy in. Businesses fail all the time. That doesn't mean they were victims of predatory business models.

I'm differentiating it from a Ponzi scheme. It's a low cost franchise that doesn't screen anyone out.
