Tony LaRussa to plead guilty to lesser charge
Do we have to derail every thread with TLR DUI talk? ?

Egg Nog Poll
@southsider2k5 what do you think Tony La Russa puts in his egg nog?

Day 12 of no new Sox News
Which banned poster should we allow back in next? Although thematically we should do this around Easter not Christmas for a religious tie in along with sports and politics. I believe ironically we brought back Birlilo on SS2k5's birthday.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
When we started here there were three very active WS boards. We were the smallest. No one has devoted more time and energy building this forum than SS2k5. Now it's the largest WS forum by every metric. The thousands of unpaid hours for almost twenty years working the behind the scenes stuff is truly unbelievable and I for one appreciate all of his efforts to build this.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
Lol. Of course you would think that you have a better idea of why you were banned than the people that actually decided to ban you. We've about given up that you would actually stop trolling every thread and attacking mods. You don't care if you're banned then in a week or so it will be week after week of you keep trying to get back in. So eventually we take bets on what you'll write and let you back in "bro" <-- which was a winner for me, although I was worried at first that you had taken bro out of your vocabulary. Now to be completely transparent there is a response I'm trying to have you write.

2020 Election Thoughts
Ok instead of forgiving student loans cut their taxes the amount of their loans. It's their money then that is paying off the loan.
-
2020 Election Thoughts
Isn't that what they did with the $1,200 earlier in the year or any of the tax cuts?

2020 Election Thoughts
I couldn't agree more.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
Lol That wasn't the only reason you were banned. Fortunately there's other White Sox message boards for you to post on. And after this banning we'll find another slow time on the board when we're bored and repeat the process. Having old friends return is good for the soul.

2020 Election Thoughts
There already are programs tied to community service. A popular one with teachers is $5,000 in forgiveness for teaching in lower income areas for five years.

How serious is expansion in the next 5 years?
San Antonio would be an interesting choice. It's the largest city in the US without a MLB team. The financial struggle is the stadium will require a dome or a retractable roof at the minimum.

2020 Election Thoughts
Isn't it lawful order of the president?
-
2020 Election Thoughts
Many Dem leaders believe the President can make it happen by executive order. The numbers mentioned are up to $50,000 with $10,000 getting mentioned the most. Several candidates in the primaries talked about it. It's interesting in that it probably would benefit middle to upper middle class families the most. Most debt is held by students that went to graduate school and usually the most capable of repaying the loans. Still, it seems like a good idea to me if it is combined with increased financial aid for students attending community colleges. I'd like to see public education move from 13 years to 15 years free via the community college system.

Egg Nog Poll
Perhaps a little known fact but at least one of the Oberweis clan was a really strong chess player. He kicked my ass a time or three in tournaments. I still buy their egg Nog when I'm in Chicago.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
Correct. So even more damming. After concluding the investigation they went ahead with the charges. And to the broader point, obviously to me at least firing him is different than hiring him. Supporting a current employee with a problem is different than hiring the problem. Hiring shows a much higher level of acceptance to the problem. Society has many ways to protect itself and enforce behavior. The laws and courts are just one.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
He was arrested the day before he was hired. Your post said if everyone who drove drunk was fired. Not even the case here. The team knowingly hired someone who had been arrested the day before. Bailing someone out of jail to hire them isn't something that should be encouraged to stop drunk driving. You really should read your own posts. Lol

Day 12 of no new Sox News
You're timeline is off. More accurately if everyone who drove drunk was offered a promotion the day after they were arrested there would be more fatalities.

2020 Election Thoughts
So who is hoping for a student loan forgiveness program? I've been reading many of the arguments for and against and my gut tells me it would be helpful to a lot of people.

Homemade? Store bought? I enjoy using it to make freedom toast.

. . . maybe plan what mix of fake and real news to say in front of the fast work worker who is always eavesdropping on your conversation.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
I wonder what the mood is at the office. Pressure to do something? Patience? Thinking and rethinking? Come in scan the newspapers to see if Tony's ok, check for an email from Liam's agent, figure out what's happening for lunch. Discuss if JR liked his Hanukkah gift, thinking about what to get Kenny for Christmas. Take bets on the new name for Cleveland's baseball team. b**** about the cold and when it's going to snow. Scan Soxtalk for advice.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
In one of my undergrad psych courses I recall a lesbian saying something similar.
