  1. You made that sound like a bad thing lol I'm new here. I really didn't realize which forum it was in.
  2. Since I wasn't involved and haven't talked with JR personally I'm just guessing. I believe your points are valid. What they will be taking about is his multiple DUIs
  3. People have formed ideas and beliefs and will argue with people with more knowledge and experience that they are right. JR isn't unique in that. He's owned a baseball team for decades and has learned a lot. I don't believe he's stupid, he's made plenty of personnel decisions in his life, and he made a decision. I find it easier to believe he said "I believe TLR is our best change at winning a WS" over "I don't care if we even break .500 I want to hire Tony back."
  4. That is assuming that JR wants to employ Tony more than he wants one more WS. I think it's a possibility that JR is convinced Tony is the guy to bring that WS. JR is willing to go through all this to win that WS. If all he wanted to do was give Tony a paycheck there were other ways. I think JR will be quicker than usual if there is an issue that affects winning that WS. I know we'll disagree with JR that Tony is the best choice as manager, the discussion here is JRs prime motivation, was it to employ Tony again at all cost or win a WS at all cost. I think that WS is bigger.

And then the damn Democrats must have changed those votes to Biden. More proof of the widespread fraud perpetrated by Democrats.
  6. Nice. Making America Great Again!
  7. Which is why I believe they are much the same. I wasn't a Trump fan, but I didn't want the country to fail. Same with TLR circa 2020.
  8. You wouldn't have wanted to be wrong about the President?
  9. How about this scenario, there are some posters here, I'd say we make up the majority, that love to say I told you so and prove other posters wrong. It's easy to get the feeling in December that that feeling is stronger than wanting the team to win. I doubt there are many of us that take it that far. Certainly by April those people are probably gone. But a blown save, a miscue by Eaton, a poor pitching change and we know what will be posted in the game threads.
  10. Is 6 am night? I don't understand why ignition lockout devices are required after the first DUI but certainly they should be after the 2nd.
  11. I think it's a good guess based on past history with other issues. To me it fits the "I knew this (insert bad thing) was going to happen!" posts.
  12. Isn't it comparable to not wanting the President to do well, but wishing the country does well? And we both know there are some people that can't wait to show that Tony can't relate to players, can't grasp advanced statistics, etc. For that to happen it would seem the team would need to falter. I don't think it's a sizable number, but there are always some that want to be right.
  13. True. I will guess that by April 1st they will be cheering like the rest of us. I'm a big fan of character and setting the example. I also believe Tony deserves the HoF ring. We're just getting a guy before and after he was great. But I already reserved the name southsider2k20 for after the WS.
  14. Or quicker if the team wins a World Series.
  15. I actually believe people will impulsively and always spend the $10 a week. I think if you hand someone $520 they will begin actually thinking about and planning what to buy. They may actually spend the $520 months from now. And for people who aren't impacted financially by COVID they may just move $520 to savings but would spend the $10 a week.
  16. It always seems messy to include pitchers and maybe even designated hitters in this sort of debate. On days he was playing I'd take Buehrle over Konerko. With a little bit of hindsight I will say that Buehrle is my favorite Sox pitcher of all time. Certainly the only pitcher I bought a ticket to a game specifically because he was starting. If I had to name a second most valuable player behind Thomas, I would pick Konerko. But the question is second "best" player. Konerko fell off the HoF ballot, Buehrle is just starting. I think of outside chances of one day telling a cop late at night that you're a hall of fame baseballer, I think Buehrle has the best shot. So, I'm going to offer Buehrle as my choice. And in less time than you took to read this Mark would have faced two batters and probably have a 1-0 count on the third.
  17. But it does include a billion or two for more border wall. I guess they think a wall will keep out the virus.

For public schools that's a great question. Why are public schools still so expensive? The government is already covering some of the cost of those schools. Why aren't they covering more? Are you bothered by the tax dollars that were already spent for those students or just spending tax dollars after the education? Again, just speaking for the public, taxpayer funded schools.
  19. Great marketing move, no one is talking about the Cubs today.
  20. That's really the bottom line. Driving drunk when you have the resources to hire a DD. The I'm a Hall of Famer and lying is just a little extra.
  21. In related news Tony pled guilty to making insensitive remarks ending speculation that he is a racist.
  22. Well we can close this thread. We have actual Sox News finally. TLR pleaded guilty to a lesser charge today.
  23. Do we have to derail every thread with TLR DUI talk? ?
