I like that the players union and owners are willing to adapt during the season as problems arise. With games postponed for Covid related issues, it seems reasonable that a lot of doubleheaders will be happening. I could see a point near the end of the season that has playoff implications where teams have two or three doubleheaders in a week. This seems better than having teams like the Marlins forfeit.

fixed Players seem to like the idea, but what do they know? In Japan they allow ties. Thus this play until you win is different as they play 12 innings max during the regular season, 15 innings in the playoffs.

Originally baseball was played until one side scored a set number of runs. The idea of ending on a set inning was unheard of. So y'all already ruined the game with this inning thing. That's not baseball!! Same with the number of players. That came along later. Nine players isn't baseball! ? Designated hitter, 162 game season, specialty players like closers and Loogy, it's all against the traditions. And why not toss in all the advanced metrics that take a computer to calculate? The game is ruined. The game already changed to slow and football zoomed past it as America's game. If we keep it as a sacred cow it will be butchered.

From my superintendent to the state of Texas which threatened to without school funding for schools who are teaching remotely for an extended period of time. "What I’m essentially saying to the State of Texas is, You can talk about 8 weeks all you want. We’re going to do a phased in plan that’s going to be based on public health metrics, period. And if you choose not to fund us, then we’ll see you in court," said Dr. Woods during a podcast interview. https://foxsanantonio.com/news/education/tea-guidance-about-school-funding-prompt-nisd-to-consider-legal-action He went on in interviews to discuss the health and safety of students and teachers and learning outcomes.

I actually could see making it permanent. Thirty years ago doubleheaders were were common. But they fell out of favor because two nine inning games were too much for fans, didn't work really well for TV, it was difficult on the players especially the bullpens, and the vendors. I'd love a twi-light double header of a scheduled 14 innings. This isn't some sacred tradition handed down by 12th century monks, it's a game. Eventually the old fans will stop complaining about how much better it was in the old days.

Good thing high fives are banned ?

The analogy is a useful concept for many fans.

Five games is 14 games in 2020 years. It's basically a 3-11 start.

Two days for my results through my oncologist.

I don't believe I would make any trades which goal is to help 2020 results. I'd be looking at this as a warm up for 2021. Hell, we don't know if we'll be playing in September.

Friday: Baseball, National Tequila Day with $3 margarita and taco combo delivered, Roberts' first at bat . . . I was younger, innocent, perhaps naive, hopeful for the season then Monday: Yeah, I really don't care. There are problems in the world.

I really do not believe he is making career decisions based on trying to limit the amount of child support he would have to pay. If he is, then he's a class A ass in my opinion for wanting to cheat his child out of any support and risking his career. Support your kid to the best of your ability anything less is wrong. It's not like he'll be eating ramen six nights a week no matter when he starts playing again.

It is also a no fault state as long as there are irreconcilable differences or living apart for two years. We're surprisingly liberal in getting into and out of marriages.

And as his financial situation changes child support can be adjusted.

Cause of death has been an on going discussion. If someone has heart disease and dies from a heart attack after getting shot in the head, what is the cause of death? If covid starts a series of health events that leads to a death, do you count what started the series or what finished the series? The two deaths I'm closest to follow that pattern. Person with an unhealthy heart for years dies a month after contracting Covid. Would he be alive today had he not caught the virus? His doctors say yes. Second person had lung issues. Caught Covid at work and dies from multiple causes. Pick one. Sure both would have died eventually, probably from their other issues but that could have been years from now.

It's an interesting paradox. I agree the season will always be tainted, but on the other hand it may actually take more talent and resolve to win. This will take a deep organization to win. Your fortieth player will have to be better than the other 40th player. You'll also have to have a flexible thinking manager who can think through the new rules without having decades of stats to guide him. -
A strong support system can help him get through this. Parents aren't thinking of him as a rich celebrity athlete. Old friends and relatives could also be helpful. It's a different perspective than team mates and new relationships.

Hopefully he finds his way through this. It's got to be a difficult time as anyone who had lived through a divorce will understand.

We're not finished in Texas. We'll make y'all look like slackers.

Free speech isn't really free. ChiSoxFn writes a check each month to keep the lights on. Here's been doing that since he was a poor college kid.

Not regardless of the situation but I understand your point. We've generally avoided speculation in the private lives of players through the years. It's telling that many of the mods have been doing this for over 15 years. We've gone through personal births and deaths, marriages and divorces, and it probably weighs on our decisions. We're not the young, brash, upstart board like we were at the turn of the century. The fact that we have outlasted other Sox boards and remain relevant is something we all should be proud of.
-
That's a great question and it seems impossible to define in advance. Instead the owner has placed the decision in the lap of the mod team based on over a decade of experience making these decisions. We have missed the mark before and will probably make a mistake again. In this we felt it's a 24 year old kid going through a professional nightmare and speculation seems cruel.
-
I believe out of respect for two human beings going through something like this we should avoid speculation. It must be a painful situation for everyone involved. It doesn't really matter what they do for a living.
